Never saw this movie but recently heard audiobook of A Death in Belmont; Sebastian Junger feels that one murder in Belmont, MA, may have been actually been done by DeSalvo (who worked at Junger's house). May have, may not have.(Roy Smith was convicted of the Belmont murder, and as the book says, DeSalvo wound up being murdered in '73 while in Walpole State Prison)
I can't decide whether I like the split screen, split-split screen stuff. I found it distracting at times, and I'm not sure it helped that much in telling the story. Good movie, though, all in all.
@toopoable Saw your comment and it answered my question. They were experimenting. You concentrate on the larger picture and let the periphal take in the smaller ones.
The performance by Tony Curtis hans´t got even a nomitation for the Oscar . He deserved it . He always was an underrated actor . Rest in peace , Tony . You were great .....
You've cut out 2 crucial moments.1) As curtis subdues the woman @ 5:14 he catches his reflection in a mirror and 2) At the end of the film, as the final shot of him fades, he suddenly looks into the camera. Come on, man.
A lot of fellow actors and critics said he couldn't act, and was only useful as a lead. This film- especially the end scene- contradicts that early premise.

It's a shame Tony Curtis didn't even get nominated for an oscar for this. He was great in this movie.

Why was that " Woodstock " style of filming so short lived?

As good as he was, he couldn't manage the Boston accent for beans. It might have been better if they just let him be himself.

I concur calactus1969 exactly right. It's unfortunate they made this with all those split screens.he had a cool comic sense as well.
