  • I love how everyone's so shocked that Damian Lewis (Major Winters) is British xD Some of the cast said they refused to believe he was British cos his accent was so good :D

I love this miniseries. It was, and still is, awesome :3

  • Do anyone now what happens whith the rubber guns then? Can you buy them somehove?

  • this guy who disliked this is a little girl

  • at 7:38 its the norwegian flag :D

  • who disliked this i mean come on just because you are a hippie war hater doesnt mean you have to dislike this

  • A big reason things like this are produced in the UK is the fact that apart from our expertise , a whole wealth of props are never more than a few hours away , as we are a nation of hoarders, collecters, generally nerds lol. If you were to film it in America ie Hollywood , you may have a company in NY state that does the smoke, another in Texas that does costumes etc, and its all a bit expensive & time consuming getting it all in one place. Being a small island has its advantages !

  • where did they get the rubber guns, i want some

  • when the nazi guy got ran over be the panzer how did the do that thumbs up if agree

  • @quinn12358 what makes you think he was a nazi?

  • @snipski0894 look at the battle of broncute and watch he runs falls and the panzer backs up you can tell by the helmet

  • @quinn12358 I re-watched it and there doesn't seem to be any indication that he was a Nazi. You understand that not all Germans are Nazis right?

  • Tom Hanks with the beard, lol.

  • 10 days at boot camp and they think they knew what it was like to be there >_>

  • @kingewan no. but it gave them an idea. they can take what they went through at boot camp and mentally multiply that by a hundred and they have a clue that the average civillian doesnt.

  • I feel slightly sorry for Damian Lewis because this is a wonderful American accent he's put on, but he's overshadowed by other actors like Hugh Laurie. I think that Hugh and Damian have the best American accents out of all British actors.

  • @hatakekaishi Damian totally fooled me. Great job.

  • 7:04 awesome tom hanks beard!!!

  • Nice Beard, Tom at his Cast away times.

  • never would i have guessed that any of them were british!

  • @KuostA The fact you are 'flabbergasted' that he is English shows he obviously had no problem with the accent. He was picked because he was not only a good actor but had the right look to represent Winters.

Winters, Roe, Wyn, Alton, Martin - English, Liebgott, Welsh, Heffron, Christenson, Talbert, Penkala, Cobb, Hoobler, Blithe, Dike, Ranney, Meehan, Evans all played by British actors.

If you want an actor to be from the actual country then Mel Gibson would never find work!

  • Waste a good T-34 in 7:58 :S

  • i think i prefer band of brothers to the pacific dare i say!!

  • this mini-series is awesome and strong.

  • it might have costed too much, but I wish they would have shot real paratrooper extras jumping out of the planes instead of cgi

  • I never would have guessed lol

  • i never knew winters was a british actor

  • @popsnacks2 a lot of the actors in this are Brits

  • band of brothers is 1000 times better than "the pacific"

  • @kounabi13 the pacific has barely even started!! they havnt even fired m1 garands in combat yet man

  • BWAHAHAHA I love at 7:47 on the tiger tank, it has the L for Learner. good stuff

  • Holy crap! Tom Hanks had a huge ass beard. Awesome sauce.

  • @wasabi622 He was filming the movie Cast Away at the time they were making this.

  • M1 Garand, best rifle ever invented.

  • dam good show well done all loved it :)

  • MAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • winters looks like that guy from the show scrubs...

  • damian lewis is british? i thot he was american... at least he sounded american

  • He has probably the best American accent, for a British actor, that I've ever heard. It's flawless.

  • i didn't realise that liebgott was english too. Londoners eh, they get everywhere. Incidentally Damian Lewis is very posh and went to Eton. True story. Probably means nothing to you if you're american but it means he has a lot of kudos for not being hated for being posh. There is a horribly class war in England by the way. If you're wealthy and successful you're hated. It's kind of like the american system in reverse. Visit England. It's nice. Sort of.

  • lol no dont go to england - chavs eveyrwhere!

  • @IHateBarnett

actually Ross Mccal (liebgott) is Scottish

  • @Salguine Don't forget Hugh Laurie......a Brit as Dr. House.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 no shit? is he brit?? fuckin actors who blend there accents lol thanks for the interesting fact

  • @Salguine agreed

  • @Salguine lets not forget about hugh laurie either =P

  • @Salguine only Hugh Laurie can do better at that

  • Comment removed

  • Haha convincing isn't he? :P I can do a pretty convincing British accent myself..

  • Hats off to the airborne. During D-Day nothing worked as planed. Airborne made it work.

  • would love to have a rubber MG-42 just to do exactly what Tom Hanks did, toss it at someone, would be funny as heck to see their face right before they catch it!!

  • i like that Learner's sticker on the back, LOL

  • hey its tom hanks when he was in his role for cast away at 7:00

  • What I want to know, why does Winters look so weird when he talks. It's like he sucked on a lemon and his face got stuck like that.

  • Movie Magic!

  • THAT IS ABSOLUTELY FLABBERGASTING. The most AMERICAN guy, winters, turns out to be English, with a british accent...WTf?! Enlighten me, why did they bother using him inthe first place for an american person, why bother having to make him fake an ameircan accent whenthey could just find a true americanactor and get over this voiceproblem to begin with>??

  • yes but WHY have the actor have to even ACT the language when they could easily find an american one and avoid that all together?

  • There wasn't a voice problem... if there was, you wouldn't have been surprized he was English. Just because he's Englsh doesn't make him non-american. Plenty of American citizens have accents. Should we start profiling people based on their race and how they talk? Besides, what it comes down to is how they played the role. And he played it to a tee. I'm pretty sure that if your going to agrue the casting of him by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielburg, your not too bright to begin with.

  • because the guys that played him fit the part i dont know about you but i didnt hear a british accent come out of his mouth through out the whole series

  • Lol, 2ndpadrummer. Almost none of the men even knew he was British. That's what I call a grade a actor.

  • yeah man a bunch of the guys on this show are from the uk, its crazy

  • @KuostA The fact you are 'flabbergasted' that he is English shows he obviously had no problem with the accent. He was picked because he was not only a good actor but had the right look to represent Winters.

Winters, Roe, Wyn, Alton, Martin - English, Liebgott, Welsh, Heffron, Christenson, Talbert, Penkala, Cobb, Hoobler, Blithe, Dike, Ranney, Meehan, Evans all played by British actors.

If you want an actor to be from the actual country then Mel Gibson would never find work!

  • i love guns! i like very much the m-16

  • I have a rubber M1 carbine and it looks exactly like the real one.

  • I have a real M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, M1911a1 45, Walther ppk, Walther P-38, and Luger P-08 and they are all authentic and I fire them regularly.

  • Yo I just got a job called battle reenactments and I can choose between germans, england, and america. I can choose the company, redgament. I get the clothing, gear, and any gun I choose for that army. If you be a jeep driver, they give you the jeep.

  • i'll bet tehy are norinco =p jkjk

  • Lucky :D

    Do they fire well?

  • I envy you - in Czech Republic, no relics like this are available... I would also like to collect weapons from WWII - I only have authentic ammo for Mosin Nagant

  • so what is the difference between M1 Carbine and Garand? are they not the same?

  • Technechly they are the same but the Carbine was much more easy to carry around, espicialy for the paratroopers they had metal foldable stocks unlike the Garand and I heard somewhere that the Garand get jammed/breaks more often than the carbine does. But other than that they are pretty much the same

  • thanks for the reply....great start to do research...

  • no problem, i love facts on guns, espicialy old wwii ones!

  • yeah, man! from the BAR to the thompson to the stg44....

  • Yeah! I also looking up stuff about weapons that a lot of people dont know, theres some intresting ones such as the Panzerwurfmine, Einstossflammenwerfer 46, and ur gonna think its funny but a Nazi explosive chocolate bar grenade, look these up :D

  • The M1 Carbine fires a small .30 caliber round which is more like a pistol round. Some had folding stocks, which are what the paratroopers used. Others had regular wood stocks. The M1 Garand was a rifle and fired a large .30-06 round. The Garand shot 8 rounds from a clip, and the carbine fired 15 rounds from a magazine.

  • M1 Carbine was fed from the bottom and it was faster shooting. Garand was fed from the top and slower rate of fire.

  • Awesome! Thank you for the precise response, cwood4ever!

  • the m1 grand also shot a much bigger round, the carbine shot a pistol round

  • an m1 garand round can take off your arm

  • not true the the M& carbine shot many different rounds includid 30 cal

  • Sweet rubebr guns!

  • i have m42 jum suit :D

  • nice hippie hat and beard tom hanks lol.
