Launchpad Tutorial: Part 6 — Using Launchpad with Automap (English)

This doesn't explain anything. I'm using Logic with Automap, and I cannot figure out a way to assign a control map to any of the groups. None of the pads on Launchpad are responsive, except for the session or user or mixer button flashing. Automap says, "There are no control maps assigned to this group," with 16 boxes below that, apparently for 16 control maps. However, there are no apparent functions in Automap to, say, create a new control map in one of those 16 boxes.

How do you open two automaps, one for launchpad and one for the skmkII simultaneously?

@RoboticusMusic You can not open two GUI's / applications per device, however you can gain control with either device by pressing the 'USER' button on the SL MK II, or pressing 'USER2' and 'DOWN' simultaneously on the Launchpad (accessing Automap mode) then press USER2 to select the Automap 'User' browser group.

@kayastar89 You can use the Launchpad as a midi device in FL Studio. As it is made for using Ableton Live it has more in depth control, however you can map the Launchpad buttons to controls in FL by right clicking the parameters in FL, selecting 'Link to Controller' and hitting a Launchpad button. Or you can simply use it to trigger your synths in FL.

What's the difference between Automap and Automap Pro?

@SynesthesiaMusic Automap PRO allows you to use more than one Novation controller together. Also, you can edit Min / Max values and assign keystroke assignments from your DAW to the buttons on your controller (ie. quantise, zoom in / out etc..)

@NathanMediaTV The LEDs can not be changed via Automap, but can be edited by the 'Velocity' device in Ableton Live.

e.g. a running matrix control for SLICE TO MIDI funktion

where i can graphically edit the midinotes in a runninx matrix

can i do it with some editor

or automap editor?

Is this only compatible with ableton? Or could I for example use it just to trigger loops from Cubase or Fruity loops?

@allanispro You can use the Launchpad as a typical MIDI device in Cubase and Fruity Loops and any other software which responds to MIDI.

I want to use my Launchpad with "DasLight", a DJ-Light-Controll software.

It just can get Midi messages, it cannot send.

My problem is: All Buttons are Red (dimmed red, and when i push the button its bright red).

Everything i can adjust, is that instead of acitvating the light as long as i push the button, the light is toggled by pushing the button and it's shines bright until I push the button again.

The Toggle-Function is good, but how can I change the colors of the buttons?

I'm confused^^.

As you can see in the video, any pad with a control assigned to it will be lit either dim red or bright red; these correspond to a CC value of 0 or higher than 0 respectively.

The yellow lights shown in the video occur when a key stroke is assigned to a pad.

Currently, it is not possible to change the colour of the pads during Automap operation.

Automap operation is different to the Live operation. Operation in Live is tailored to control Live, whereas in Automap, the Launchpad becomes an assignable MIDI controller.

Through Automap, each individual pad becomes assignable. You can use this to send note data or perform other functions through MIDI control messages.

The Launchpad can also be used to control any third-party plug-ins that have been Automap wrapped.
