The gay part of Benny is what they are talking about, but the gay storyline was meant to play a bigger part on the game, but they decided to cut it out for some reason or another.

In the book, Benny is a gay scientist. They changed his character in the game from a gay scientist to a demanding military officer who killed his entire unit.
It's not a book. It was originally a short story. A lot of stuff was just added on to flesh out the story enough to make a game. In the story, they find the canned goods, realize they can't open them and Benny snaps and starts gnawing on Gorrister's face. Ted realizes that AM won't prevent them from harming each other, so he kills Benny and Gorrister, Ellen kills Nimdok, and Ted kills Ellen. AM, now superpissed, turns Ted into a blob so he can't harm himself. He has no mouth, and he must scream.
I saw this on top 10 ftw and had to see a playthrough of it, and this is the best i could find. Your commentary provides an intelligent backdrop to the grim storyline that makes the entire ordeal just wonderful.

About the mana bit, he's referencing the bible. In the bible, god sent a fruit called mana from heaven to help his people. I believe it was during their voyage to the promised land. btw, did you ever notice the more cultured the author the more cultured their characters tend to be? XD

I find the expressive voice of AM somewhat hammy and uncharacteristic of a cold, hateful machine. However, if that's what the author envisioned, providing the voice himself, I suppose I can't argue with it. Still, from the description of this story I imagine a voice more like the HAL 9000.
heres what i think benny did: benny was hitting on brickman (if you know what i mean). brickman rejects benny's advances, angered benny shoots brickman. Thomas comes by trying to save brickman (not knowing who shot) with hopes of him being alive. Benny however, thought that if brickman was still alive, will tell who shot him. so benny shoots thomas to keep benny safe
Tuttle somehow manages to find out benny was gay (overhearing benny's advances on brickman) and runs off. benny chases him
@Infernoman48 and drowns tuttle in the rice paddy to keep things quiet. benny runs off and finds murphy. murphy says that he was investigated gunshots and wanted to investigate and walks off. benny is frightened and shoots him in the back of the head to keep things quiet.
however, thats just my theory of what benny did to his men
I love this game, it's soo creepy when you let it get to you. But there's one thing that bothers me, that I can't figure out: The torture boxes in the beginning.

Nimdok: an oven, similar to the ones used in the concentration camps.
Benny: A POW torture chamber (?)

Gorrister: A padded torture room, similar to the padded room his wife is in (?)

Interesting adaption of a great story. If you haven't read it Necro, you could just look it up on google.There's an only version somewhere. I wouldn't call it a book, though. It's only a short story. They greatly expanded the personalities of the characters in this version.
I finished watching this LP yesterday, and I read the short story today (you can google it, it's only like 14 pages). It's interesting to see AM fleshed out in this game (by the original author no less) having read the short story.

Originally Benny was an intelligent, handsome homosexual. In the story i dont think it was referenced if he tried to hide it, but it did say how he only thought of himself like a beast, so AM turned him into one with large genitals
i'm sorry but the way he said "TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDD" is absolutely hilarious enough to make me forget about the pyschological damage this short story did to me for 10 seconds

Great game, one of the best in horror style!

Interesting adaption of a great story. If you haven't read it Necro, you could just look it up on google.There's an only version somewhere. I wouldn't call it a book, though. It's only a short story. They greatly expanded the personalities of the characters in this version.

I finished watching this LP yesterday, and I read the short story today (you can google it, it's only like 14 pages). It's interesting to see AM fleshed out in this game (by the original author no less) having read the short story.

Originally Benny was an intelligent, handsome homosexual. In the story i dont think it was referenced if he tried to hide it, but it did say how he only thought of himself like a beast, so AM turned him into one with large genitals

Harlan Ellison is an amazing voice actor... usually too cheezy to be taken seriously, but as AM he is PERFECT!
Plus i think it's so great you get to hear the authors actual take on his own character.
