  • hey! this is weird

  • gay

  • HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO GET FILM ASPECTS OUT OF THESE GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN YOU ASSIGNMENT!!! DAMN YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . . .

    caps makes it cooler

  • Cool

  • OMG a strongman in a speedo

  • Edisonseems like a dick , he stole patents and stifled competition. And probably gay by the looks of his films. Those were the worst boxers ever..

  • if you like to see the cinema history watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy.

  • Tesla always.

  • 1:06 GAY!

  • edison had a great R&D workshop where others would come up with ideas, the real genius is Da Vinci. Edison realy didn't do much just put his name on it

  • I will say, however, that whatever this music is, it is great!

  • pardon me, but - RENAISSANCE music used to back up movies set in the LATE ROMANTIC era? Come on! Some light classics, salon music, selections from operetta, and maybe some early pop music would fit the bill here, with a piano and maybe a reed organ and some stringed instruments and possibly a clarinet and flute.

  • The Serpentine Dances is always so weird and scary looking to me but it's still so beautifully filmed.

  • Tesla! Tesla!

  • if you like old movies watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy

  • The Boxing match was amusing, they didnt even puch eachother

  • the strong man first porn film?

  • yes..

  • MarsCubed and Bobbobato so funny are your nicknames; good luck;

  • is that kind of crap or somethin'.??

  • Love the color effects of The Serpentine Dancer. Very trippy visual.

  • While this is generally true, Edison did invent the light bulb. So he is like Bill Gates, who once wrote a version of the BASIC language for the first home computer (the one that had to be assembled).

  • Absolutely right. The "Elephant film" was actually made to discourage the 125 volts a.c. electricity early adaptors (he was pushing the absurd 12 volts dc) in an open war against Westinghouse & Nicola Tesla.

  • Tesla was a former worker who Edison steal many inventions and didnt pay him 50,000 dls he promised for improvents in DC use ). Actually the hungarian Tesla was the real genius behind the electricity and many "new" inventions as the wireless technology who he invented more tan 100 years ago. Even the phonograph was invented by a Edison worker. And besides this Edison hated his own latino-hispanic bloodline, his surname Alva denotes it (some researchers said it came from her actual spansh mother.

  • @universidaddelexito

Spanish (as in from SPAIN). He was NOT hispanic. Spain is in EUROPE.

  • @wingedsniper

I heard about him electrocuting an elephant to win a contract for the world's fair...or something like that....geesh !

  • @wingedsniper Nikola Tesla invented the radio.

  • Wow. I had no idea porn was so important to the film industry.

  • why?

  • Because Dickson invented it. Dickson worked for Edison so Edison got the patent in his name. Got his back though when he only patented it in the U.S. and in Europe they took the kinetoscope apart and then built their own.

  • Dickson wouldn't be able to realize it without Edison's support. So, Edison was a great incarnator of thoughts, may be even somebody else's thoughts. There are so many people having good ideas but without ability to make them practically useful.

  • Better still if you do not have a cartel monopolizing patent ownership and crushing any intensive to create.

  • pretty racey stuff for back then was this filmed in New Jersey it's all most g*y, fan dance, men posing why would Edison pick this for fist films weird...

  • This is great, and I love the music too! Thank you for uploading this :)

  • OMG so funny

  • This video looks great!

  • A little somethin fo da ladies..

  • I have seen most of these already. I especially liked the Serpentine dancer, and the one after

  • hey the first onscreen kiss! not very sexy, lol

  • @IrishDroog I actually thought it was LOL very sweet.

  • is this from landmarks of early films

  • I know they were only play boxing, but is that the 1st showing of boxing on film?

  • merci pour le video

  • Sandow the strong man was no Arnold, but he sure had a nice ass, didn't he? ;)

  • heh heh

  • So you can also say that the kiss was the first on screen kiss right? I love these films . I am also wondering about the music.

  • Does anyone know the name of the music playing?

  • So Is "Serpentine Dances" technically the very first film with color, not whatever one people say is first from 1914? (Or does it not count because its only a filter or something?)

  • it doesn't count, since it is a filter.. It is not the "real" color you see here..

  • thanks

  • colorised by hand. like sepia toning used to be.

  • I thought that a part of the film was dyed? Because the whole part with colour had the colour all over the film, not just in one part.

  • bloody hell what was that tune the theme to in the uk? gardening today? what?

  • Love it!

I gotta admit, that "Strong Man" guy had a great ass.

    woof!

  • thanks

  • Wow! I had read about all of these films in a chronicle of the cinema book but didn't think I could find any of them. Thanks for posting this.

  • Edison films wee only black and white, not tinted as is the second serpatine dance film.
