I'm a mechanic and we do this all the time in our shop as well,except we LOCK the safety locks that are there to stop the hoist in case the hydraulic pump leaks! These guy are lucky this didn't happen when someone was under it! SAFETY first!

This happens alot at non-dealership places such as Sears, Tire Kingdom, Discount Tire, etc. I worked at an NTB and Sears. They hire idiots and don't train them. Training consists of following another Tech 1 or 2 around for a week. I stopped working there and went to work for a private custom shop mainly because I got tired of these companies hiring jackasses off of the street who didn't know shit about cars. Be careful when taking your car to these places.

Those in ground lifts are dangerous, because the air pressure leaks out over time, allowing the

fluid out of the cylinders, and back into the holding tank causing the lift to drop.

NEVER EVER park a car under one of these lifts.

Modern Rotary lifts have no problem with the car dropping, because they hold pressure, and

have safety latches. Even if they were to loose pressure, the car won't drop.

We use to double park new Lexus cars at the dealership all the time on Rotary lifts. With NO prob.
