The creates such a wonder, mellifluous sound. So rich and deep. Even the high notes are nothing like that squeaky noise you hear from a violin. My favorite string instrument. Apocalyptica makes me proud to be a cellist.

Im currently writing a dark fantasy novel; and some days I come home and just cant be bothered to write anything..Then I listen to any apocalyptica song and suddenly my mind slides so perfectly into the right state and I can write for hours with this in the background. This song came on during Maria's death in Gears of War 2...Made me wish they had had it in there by default...well...and kind of wish it hadn't. It made the scene much more depressing. What made it better was when another of their songs came on just after the scene when Dom gets angry. That song was one of their heavier ones. It was awesome coincidence.

Compared to most who associate with the metal genre, the Apocalyptica guys actually look fairly normal. Of course, they're also amazing artists, and don't have to make up for not sounding badass with make-up and clothing like other metal musicians might.

Personally I don't think the make-up and clothing is as much to make up for the music as it is a way to give the fans something extra. Those people want to give something more than just music, they want to give a whole show (unlike some pop singers who just hump the mike stand like horny dogs)
