  • 11 Bravo!!! Woot woot

  • Turn back about 30 degree for the right head space timing

  • looks like another round was in the chamber and over heated this actually happens alot in the weapone because the size of the round and the powder in that round . or the gun is so old and there was to much powder in the round

  • Looks like the explosion happens on it's own, just after firing and before chambering. Is this the result of improper headspace and timing?

  • I saw this happen on a range in Baumholder, West Germany in 1982. The shooter wasn't injured, but it took four of us to pull his underwear out of his ass.

  • SHIT! Time to buy a go/ no go gauge!!! dang!

  • Timing refers to when the striker is released as the bolt moves into battery. The striker must release before the bolt is completely in battery (forward) but not before the bolt is locked. If a cartridge is slightly longer than normal, or a small piece of junk prevents the bolt from moving into battery, a stoppage will result unless the striker releases a few thousandths out of battery. If the timing is off and the weapon fires before the bolt is locked, look out!

  • The headspace is the distance from an arbitrary diameter on the tapered shoulder of the chamber to the face of the bolt. If the distance is too short (insufficient headspace), the bolt will not lock up and the weapon will not fire. It the distance is too great (excessive headspace), there will be unsupported brass when the cartridge fires. This can cause a rupture of the cartridge case and 50,000 PSI wreaking havoc to the gun (and shooter).

  • I wouldn't like to be a guy behind that gun when it happens.

  • idea for the day: Hey...lets go blow up 10 grand!!!!

  • This hurts to watch. :(

  • I think when this happens in the field it is because somebody screws the barrel in until it stops, maybe backs it off slightly from there, WITH THE BOLT FULLY FORWARD. On the M2 you need to retract the bolt (and barrel extension with it) slightly to release the locking detent so the barrel will fully screw in. Of course you do want to set the headspace with the gage too. The timing being off generally just pounds the gun loose, but if the headspace is 3/8" or whatever over then this happens.

  • Man... What happened? It seemed the bolt didn't lock cuz the headspace was to short... Then again your the expert please explain

  • Epic Fail !

  • I wish they would make more of these videos. Might cut down on lazy people hurting themselves and others and so causing some idiot politician to complain and pass laws to restrict our gun use even more.

  • Good way to lose a couple of fingers.

  • sad

  • Well, That was unexpected..

  • Thanks ....

I am going to use this on my next safety brief.

  • lol good vid & great screen name.

    QoB, Follow Me

  • they obviously had the barrel twisted all the way down.

  • If they had showed me that in SOI.......lol

  • Is regulable headspace a good thing or more of a downside... fixed headspace mgs won't do this right?

  • That will make you have a bad day...

  • HOLY FUCKING SHIT

  • Checking the headspace and timing with the gauge takes less than a minute, this video is a demonstration of what can happen if you fail to take that extra 20 seconds to check Ma Deuce before you fire her. If you have a M2, you better have the gauge, plain and simple. Some people will tell you all .50s are the same, tighten the barrel all the way down then back it off two clicks. Not true! Mine backs off 4, do your checks! Great video Blue Cord.

  • And it should be within the UCMJ to choke the fucks who misplace headspace and timing guages!

  • @wkbdtrav Seem to only get about 3 or 4 shots off at a time before it jams with the backing off two clicks method...

  • mine backs off 7 lol

  • im pretty sure ull gett sumthing more than a fucked a face

  • That... would certainly make me piss myself.

    Holy shit.

  • That would so suck. It could mess up your whole morning.

  • lol don't u just hate it when that happens

  • I know right! You're thinking "This is fun" then BLAM your face just gets fucked up! And then no one's there to help you cause your friend who planned on coming with you to the range got pissed off at you, how was I supposed to know that was his coffee I'm not a fucking coffee cup mind reader for christ's sake, and that thing with his sister, 3 years ago, so not my fault that she's into shit like that . But yeah totally sucks when that happens(I really need to go to sleep)

  • looooooooooool yh i'd get sum sleep man

  • Well. either our military has to stop using ordinance left-over from World War One, or our government better find better contractors.

  • They don't need to use new equipment if it's a good gun.

    And every gun breaks, btw.

  • ...obviously it was a test that was designed to fail for training purposes...

  • Agreed.

  • its not a matter of bad ordnance or bad contractors, its a matter of not having properly maintained your equipment. when you fail to maintain something like that, your gonna get some pretty spectacular results. believe me, i know. i work on these things in the navy

  • Yes, sir!

(Having never served in the military I should "look before I leap!"...and remember to clean my weapons!)-LOL!

  • we use em because nobody else has voulenteered any better design that is more effective at killing the enemy.

  • and killing your self :D

  • I was a unit armorer for a time while in special forces and this is a crucial aspect of maintenance for these weapons.

  • so, what exactly is happening here?

  • In a nutshell the round isn't being properly chambered because the bolt is either too far or too close to the barrel. The ignition that is suppose to send the round is exploding in the weapon itself.

  • @bluecord11b

Moral of the story, even your best friend can be your worst enemy!

  • i"ll stick w/ my 1919, and its cheaper by about $6,500

  • had a guy in my unit in iraq have that happen to em, got part of the gun or the bullet dont know exactly what go through his leg
