  • He was president of the continental congress, not of the united states.

  • Wasn't George Washington the 1st President? WTF?

  • It reminds me of the excellent TV series I saw recently about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.

  • The flagging of the transfer casket, with the background trumpet orchestra, was quite moving.

  • ahhh treasure hunters

  • And this is why the super natural exist :T

  • Sen, Dodd. He was a Britt, not a fucking President, Moron!

  • Brainwashed nuts

  • It should be made clear that the tomb was ready to cave in on itself. The Archeologist for the State of Connecticut came out and the tomb was entered, the remains documented and then removed to a local funeral home. The tomb was re-built and the bodies of the Huntingtons reinterred with an honor guard as he was a governor of the state.

This was done all on contributions and at no cost to the public coffers.

  • Cameras off quick dump that shit in the bag

  • Oh Go,d thay make up this shit

  • What a waste of time, money and resources. Funerals and preserving bodies are for the living because the dead don't give a crap. Cemetaries are a waste of space, the death business is a multi-billion dollar enterprise that are a bunch of weazles.

When my mother died they bought a 8 thousand dollar coffin and argued over the color because my mother liked blue. BFD, she couldn't see shit because she is dead.

  • Come on you yanks. These were brits. Why do you have to go digging them up.Leave them to rest in peace.

  • @suzukix5owner They were not Brits. Samuel Huntington and his wife were born and died here in Connecticut. Not to mention he was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, which renounced the Crown.

  • @Quasimodo1957 DOH!.....I stand corrected.

  • @suzukix5owner brits dig up brits all the time, look for the necropolis(SP?) vid

  • wow, even when your dead,..still you have no peace.

  • as a briton, this is interesting and i found it very humbling on watching those restore the gravesite on such an honourable man and his wife

  • Our four fathers laid in state to behold the grandness of America, Samuel Huntington

and the rest those great men who risked everything to be free.....Thank you for what you did for us all.....Thank you

  • As a direct descendant of several individuals who served in the Revolutionary War, the infamous Chesebrough family of CT, some of the first European immigrants to the New World, and those who helped found several of the now-major cities in CT and on the East Coast, this is a beautiful tribute to our founding fathers. Thanks for posting it, and thanks to those who helped rebuild the Huntington gravesite and participated in their reburial and careful exhumation.

  • That was a wonderful video and a reminder that it was a struggle to define our country. How soon we forget the Articles of Confederation over shadowed by the Constitutional Convention but it was an important and necessary step to create this country as we know it now. Again, thank you for reminding us of that transition.

  • Some people are rude. they should kiss off. such as that guy that cant seem to shut up on others comments.

  • Some people are rude. they should kiss off.

  • should have just left them alone.

    Sen. Dodd? That's a disgrace.

  • Very Good video! Samuel is signer of declaration of independence, first president of United States and governor of connecticut!

  • The tomb was falling apart, they removed the remains to rebuild the tomb. then they will put them back

  • Yep... this is why I want cremation.

  • @bettescorpio

What difference does it make when you're dead?

  • Comment removed

  • @LewisLaVita the tomb was falling apart idiot

  • @REAPER1279 Your an ass. it doesnt say that in the description, IDIOT!

  • someone tell me why the fuk are they exhuming a perfectly peaceful grave...

  • @Breathlless the tomb was falling apart idiot

  • Hmm why?...why not let them be?

  • the tomb is actually a crypt, I wonder who else was in there

  • Shows what a good job the ancient Egyptians could do with embalming.

  • Nice video, but George Washington was the first President of the United States. Another website claims a John Hanson was the first U.S President. (1715-1783) But neither his name nor Samuel Huntington is on the White House website listing of all U.S Presidents.

  • ... but this is VANDALISM ... .

  • Because Huntington was the President of the Continental Congress when the Articles of Confederation were ratified, some amateur historians and civic groups in Connecticut have claimed that Huntington was actually the first President of the United States.

    "amateurs"

  • What an honor it would have been to be there,

Thank you for the video. And for the great respect given to a past President and first lady.

  • Kind of find it funny that they were so dissapointed that the remains wer little more than dust. "one of the worst preservations i've seen." Exactly what did they expect after 200 years? People wern't emabled at that time, and being placed in a crypt open to temperature changes will have a tendecy to have bodies decompose as normal.

In fact why did they hve to take them out inthe first place? the tomb looked secure. If you need to do some rebricking,, why go in the tomb?

  • Wonderful documentary.

    Thank you for sharing it.

  • @onmilo who body r they talkin about

  • @pema954 Many people, myself included, consider Samual Huntington to be the first man to assume the role of President for the fledgling United States though the office did not exist at the time that he undertook the duties.

He is one of the founding fathers of this nation nonetheless.

  • that what happens to your body damn!!!

  • When they laid that modern day flag over those caskets it almost brought tears to my eye's. It's sad to think how corrupt this country is. I bet they would be ashamed.

  • nicely said melarry,.. i am 100 percent native american and i appreciate that comment.

  • We were born from England, and it was a difficult birth, but let us pray that we can honor our parents and keep their love of liberty alive.

  • :::salute:::::

    God Bless America!!!!!

  • crrrreeeeeppppy alert...!

  • @icomefromtitybong You just talk like that because we Americans did something you Australians can't. We kicked the British the hell back to England and told them to keep their Kings, Queens, Prince's, and Princesses! So stuff your ass! If it were not for the United States of America, you'd be drinking Saki and speaking Japanese and honoring your beloved immortal Japanese Emperor.

every time i come back here to reply to you idiots and i hear the ppl talking in this vid i laugh so hard they say.

they say they cant believ how poorly the remains are decomposed like helllllooooo they have been dead for over 200 years stupid cunts.

  • @icomefromtitybong Yeah, we knew the Japs were coming. And only the carriers were not in Pearl that morning you ignorant wretch of of a shit brained owl. Several of our ships were sunk that morning, most of them are still on the bottom there. I don't give a shit which Muslim mother-fucker did 9/11 or who knew what or when, especially if the info comes from a stupid cock sucking moron like yourself! Go suck on your queens tit and leave self-governence to the people with balls!

  • @jasoneb2006 that's it mate show everyone how how intelligent your not stop talking shit and go watch the Camelot interviews

  • @icomefromtitybong Learn to type and spell already! You're giving me a headache. Whats in that bong anyways?

  • @jasoneb2006 i was born with a learning disability is to why i type like i do doesn't make me a bad person makes you one for picking on me for it for your info one in 3 ppl have trouble with writing in the world today i bet your the type of cunt that pokes fun at retarded ppl aren't you get a life im now done with you ...

  • @icomefromtitybong Ahhhh! Really? You're done with me? That really hurts! I just might kill myself because some dumbass that believes the world is run by aliens won't talk to me anymore. Those Camelot Interviews you're so big on are the second biggest crock of shit I've run into in the last 24 hours. The biggest, of course, being yourself. Sorry to hear about your disability, I'll give you a pass on the typing; not like I knew in advance.

  • @jasoneb2006 whats a bong?...is that like as backward thong?...and if so...why r u askin him that?

  • fuck me are there's cunt's an example of what Americans are like?

they are saying they are decomposed more than they would have liked WTF they have been dead for over 200 fucking years what did they expect fucking dick head American

  • @icomefromtitybong Its great to see they still allow mental patients internet access in the institution.

  • @Quasimodo1957 MATE YOU SHOULDN'T TALK ABOUT YOUR SELF THAT WAY

  • @icomefromtitybong Thats the best you can do cobber? No wonder you're on an island strictly reserved by HRH for convicts.

  • @Quasimodo1957 YOU WOULD BE A QUEER CUNT WOULDN'T YOU AUSTRALIA WAS A CONVICTS COLONY OVER 200 YEARS AGO ITS NOT ANY MORE YOU LIVE TO FAR IN THE PAST MY GRANDFATHER WAS A SHIPS CAPTAIN THAT BROUGHT THE CONVICTS OUT HERE HOW DOSE THAT IN ANY WAY MAKE ME A CONVICT GO BACK TO FUCKING YOUR MUM AND SISTER THAT'S ALL A DUMB CUNT LIKE YOUR SELF CAN GET.

  • @icomefromtitybong No, just as I'm sure you aren't a prime example of Europe.

  • so thats what a body looks like after 250 years of decomposition? creepy.

  • Song name? :D

  • So they put both bodies into one casket?

  • @Khaos696 No. The bones were retrieved from where some had fallen onto the floor of the tomb, inspected to ensure whose were whose and then they were placed in seperate caskets and reinterred into the tomb upon its dedication.

  • I was present for this. Both during the exhumation and the re-interment ceremony. I was overjoyed to be a part of seeing history in the re-making so to speak.

  • @Quasimodo1957 hmmmmm grate you were there to watch them desecrate there graves the idea is they are dead they should have left them alone that's the idea of having a closed volt when you die so no one will remove your from it this is a form of disrespecting the dead fuckers

  • @icomefromtitybong You chowderhead. The tomb was literally falling apart and was ready to collaspe. It was a restoration project to reinforce the interior of the tomb and rebuild the front. So as this couldn't be done with the Huntingtons still inside they were removed until the project was complete.

  • @Quasimodo1957 so let it collapse our body's were meant to return to the earth anyway what gives anyone the right to touch the remains of anyone once your placed to rest when it was built they would have known it wouldn't have lasted for ever.

its just cunts like your self that think its ok to fuck around with ppls remains you creepy little fuck i hope someone digs you up went your been dead a while see how you like it

  • @icomefromtitybong ahh the soul is gone it dont matter you think cremation is a no,no to huh...if not then wtf man the ashes go back to motherearth just the same..it dont matter 100 years after the fact..or whatever the soul is long gone man

  • @ltuomela ummm wtf has that got anything to do with the American people desecrating this guys grave and his wife's also wtf has cremation got to do with these people its there final resting place they should have left them be that's the hole idea of a bricked in volt so no one can get in there and fuck around with them tipical of American people tho they aren't happy unless they are fucking something up

  • i was commenting on a dude for one with American deal..2. cremation is very good idea as we are out growing this earth man...has nothing to do with what Americans do, narrow minded fuck, its my opinion not a nations..typical fuckin ass whip response..cremation will be rule of thumb and is close now..70% more are cremated now in the states in the last decade,it dont take up land so a ass hole has to dig ya up and move ya in 50 years..common since man..but i guess you dont see it this way

  • @ltuomela what the fuck are you on about you little bitch.

i have no idea how you got anything about what your talking about from what i said your been fucking your mother to much mate.

all i said was how fucked up are these cunts desecrating these ppl's tomb they were put in a tomb and bricked up so no cunt would go in there and fuck with them.

but because your got no fucking brains and your been smoking way to much crack your hearing things i never even said fucking wanker get a life.....

  • @icomefromtitybong yep knew it english all the way..man i think i it the wrong response from the start..in other words i responded to you instead of who i was trying to hit,k..clear now..lol...but at any rate wtf ever man..call me what ya want its still over your head..lol...

  • @ltuomela I CALL YOU COCK SUCKER COARSE THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE MATE YOU MAKE NO FUCKIING SENSE AT ALL

  • @icomefromtitybong ok bloody mate..lol..stay on that island and be miserable you arrogant fuckin prick..go suck your queens tit and fuck off..lol..now i insulted ya back you happy now fuck stick..i was trying to say i hit the wrong person on my reply but ya didn't wanna hear that so fuck you..stand in the rain and be depressed ass hole

  • @ltuomela well why didn't you just say that you queer little runt i meant cunt.

  • @icomefromtitybong i thought i did once i seen it was..lol...whew by now. im done with ya..

  • @ltuomela THE ONLY THING YOU DID MATE WAS YOUR MOTHER AND SISTER.

  • @Quasimodo1957 and another thing you freak they said they put them back in exactly the way they took them out that's a load of fucking bullshit they were mostly dust when they removed them they would have mixed them up also they found parts of both on the floor they said they made sure they got her parts and his seprit how could they have you need to do dna test to work that out you slimy little fuck.

and another thing they were reburied in plastic bags in the new caskets freakkkkkkkkkkk

  • This is amazing....

  • Flag was on the casket backwards, the blue field always lies over the left shoulder of the deceased.

  • why is the color guard wearing red coats was'nt the colonial uniforms dark blue

  • @mastermonarch They were the present day Governor's Foot Guard and were the honor guard for the ceremony.

  • I'm missing something here. WHY did they disturb the remains, and even move them, when the crypt looked fine? And too bad they didn't seal Dodd inside the thing.

  • @TheBelcherChannel The tomb was falling apart and had to be rebuilt. Go to Find A Grave and look up Samuel Huntington. You'll see the original condition of the tomb before restoration.

  • You could have had that speech left the bodies alone, they didn't have to dig them up to honor them.

  • @ChaosControl1997 they had to move em, the graveyard was bought by burgerking, . Hmm yummy.

  • @ChaosControl1997 The tomb was falling apart. It was rebuilt and they were reinterred.

  • they were treated with respect... and were reburied in with honor...

    kind regards from ireland.

  • Oh Come on.. did you really have to put an American flag on him?...

People saying it's honouring and stuff it's just useless... honour is something that humans have made up.. it's not a real thing it's just a state of mind which to me is very pathetic..

  • he was the 1st President of the United States of America, and, if you're an American, you'd need a swift kick in balls for disrespect to Huntington for he along with his kind gave much for your freedom.

  • @KryptonKyote He was a former govenor of the State of Connecticut Kryp.

  • I don't want to cause sparks here but if you want to start something off with me then go ahead.. but atleast make it sound intelligent.

I think they should just leave them there or actually bury them somewhere in the ground because they're suppose to decompose naturally like we're suppose to. I think it's a waste of time making coffins and resting places.. just let them get buried NATURALLY.

  • @KryptonKyote

Moaning about ceremony is a waste of time. Those involved will never give you a vote in it.

But I like the idea of wrapping a person up in cloth or in a pine box and let the ground reclaim them. Later people can dig around all they like. They'll only find rich soil.

  • I guess it's nice that they are preserving / restoring an important piece of history.

They obviously tried to show him as much respect as they could but to me it always feels wrong to be digging up peoples remains for any reason and there does seem to be a slight element of voyeurism with anything like this.

I'm sure people will mark this down but we are all entitled to an opinion.

  • GREAT RESPECT!!

  • On wikipedia I found out that Samuel Huntington was the 1-st President of USA Congress from 1779 till 1781.

George Washington was the 1 -st President of USA starting from 1789.

The question is: who was really the 1-st USA President Huntington or Washington?

  • Washington. We didn't have a president until 1789, after the Constitution was written in 1787. 1779 must be the Continental Congress.

  • @muzmarisa sam huntington was the 1st pres of The Congress of the Confederation which gov the USA from March 1, 1781, to March 4, 1789. It comprised delegates appointed by the legislatures of the states. It was the immediate successor to the Second Continental Congress. Peyton Randolph was both the first president of the First Continental congress & the Second Continental Congress.

  • @muzmarisa Washington was the first "constitutional" president (first pres elected by the people under the rules of our newly written constitution) and therefore the First president of the USA.

  • Exactly what date did this re-burial occur on? I'd LOVE to go back and look at the news archives & see why I've never heard of this.

My three guesses in this order would be Paris, Britney, and Hannah Montana.

    What a shame.

    Thank you for posting/sharing this!

  • @jettercat I believe the date was Monday, November 24, 2003. Check back issues of the Norwich (CT) Bulletin and the New London (CT) Day as well as the State of Connecticut archeologists web page.

  • Thank you for sharing this video. His part of our History

  • how nice is a body dead 200 years supossed to look

  • @sylar102882 good rack...tight abbs...shoulder length hair...good smile...oh wait...

  • that was nice

  • Those like them, if alive today would be imprisoned.

  • i am glad i watched this video,i never heard of this man before i am now educated more of this countrys history, why is he not memorized as the first president of the U S A

  • Fantastic service...I am glad I had a chance to make a small donation to help. huzza! huzza!

  • Where's the music from (at 2:44)?

  • This was very moving, at first I did not understand why you would do this, let them be. But I feel u were right in giving them both a more dignified resting place.

My only observation is that there was no minister for the opening and closing of the tomb. Why was this so?

There was a lot of kindness and dignity here.

    from the uk. Mark

  • Seems like you answered you own question. Why do you feel it necessary for a minister to be there? There was kindness and dignity shown anyways. It seemed more moving without that type of fanfare. I appreciate what they did and how it was carried on. VERY DIGNIFIED INDEED.

  • This video made me so proud to be an american.........thank you so much.

  • are you thanking me lol, as a english man my grate grate grate... grandaddy could av been related to yours. because your history only goes back like 300 years (colonial) do most americans trace where their family emigrated from, as we spawned you alot obviously will be english?????

  • im from Georgia (One of the original colonies) much like Australia, it started out as a colony for criminals and indentured servants! Yes my family has been traced to Ireland, Scotland, and mostly England! But im am also part cherokee and choctaw native american too!

  • could some one tell me why they are doing this?

  • @greenooze1500 green....the tomb had not been maintained since 1920 when a few bricks were replaced. It was falling in on itself and needed to be rebuilt. While it was being done the State of CT archeologist and team came in and took the bodies out. This was the reinterment into the new tomb.

  • This is the problem with videos like this on You Tube. It's author has made a huge and really silly historical error in calling Sam Huntington the 1st Pres. of the U.S. We all know who that was. He was one of several ceremonial Presidents of the Continental Congress (including John Jay) during the War for Independence against Great Britain .

  • But Reagan is dead now so I guess he didn't escape it....

  • Why is it always an indian curse? Why not some other curse since they are making things up.

  • what was that pile of dirt? Was that the remains of the body they were sweeping into the plastic bag? Why did the skeleton fall apart so quickly?

  • Well after 200 some years (without embalming either) that's pretty much all that's left...

  • 200 years isn't a very long time though. there are skeletons found from over 1000 years ago

  • 1000 years ago is a bad example lol...try millions!

  • It is all about the "conditions" though. But I also assumed that perhaps out of respect, they just did not show the skeletal remains.

  • and you can see a few bones and bones fragments around 1:44.

  • America has a very short human history though, in my home village the local church was built over 1,200 years ago and inside it, there is the tomb of a Lord who died in 1442. That's completely normal for England.

  • @Georgiahulse that because america was only formed 250 years ago. and they can americans stupid.....

  • @worldslayer The United States as a country was formed 234 years ago.

  • @Georgiahulse thats cause you guys are so small..lol..1442 was the Indians you think we dont have remains of Indians here? and i hate the world "lord" fuck that the dude aint no better then me or you..fuckin U.K man arrogant fucks..

  • @Georgiahulse U guys must think we're cooks when we tout a 50 year old 'antique'...lol

  • @Georgiahulse America has a very long human history ... as long as Europe's. The people of the Americas were building cities when white folk were still hiding in caves. Just because someone isn't European doesn't mean they aren't human.

  • @melarry America was a hunter gatherer society before Europeans put it on the map, Melarry. Basically savages.

  • @Caledonia62 Typical ignorance about non-European society. No, "America" (which didn't exist) was not a "hunter-gatherer" society anymore than England was. Even if it had been, it would have been as advanced as any European culture, merely in different ways. European anthropology looked at other cultures through the eyes of ignorance for many years. It's still going on, it would seem.

  • @melarry Nice thought but not true. Native americans had no concept of mathematics, had not invented the wheel,, no written laguage, no domesticated animals, no real knowledge of farming, no permanent structures, primitive weaponry, primitive tools, undeveloped form of government, no concept of other cultures. They had not advanced at all in the 10,000 years since arriving in North America.

To say that is comparable to European society is just political correctness gone amuck.

  • @xvoy2002 "Political correctness" is the primary counterattack against those who oppose European racism, sexism, and homophobia. You are assuming what "advanced" is. This is the very mindset that has caused white people to dominate and destroy others who don't share their culture. We even destroy our own people, trying to prove we are "better" than someone else by narrow and arbitrary definitions of "advanced."

  • @melarry That is an absurd argument. I'm not "assuming what advanced is"

I know what advanced is. Wearing deer skins and living in a teepee is not advanced. Blaming white people because they are farther advanced is just a cop out. A mantra.

Blame the white guy.. yeah. We built empires, ocean going ships, cities, airplanes, electricity, the industrial revolution, machines, automobiles, ect... to say this compares to native society is a stretch to say the least.

  • @xvoy2002 You're obviously a troll. Not even a young Youtube white guy is ignorant enough to think all Native Americas wore deer skins or lived in tipis. You will now be ignored.

  • @melarry Oh, you are very clever!!! An you didn't prove one point. Ok genius, tell one,, just one group of natives who were advanced,,, just one... ooops.. can't do it can you.

  • @xvoy2002 Cherokee developed their own alphabet, lived in huts and not tepee. For more info, look up Cherokee Companion on Google.

  • @xvoy2002 The modern world is very technologically advanced but we've lost the way. Most are machines. Our humanity has been lost.

  • @melarry im sorry but to say that native americans were as advanced as the europeans that landed in america is hogwashthe europeans were far more technologically advanced unfortunatley both sides were still blood thirsty time has changed our societies though

  • @phillip549 I'm sorry to see you know so little about the history of the Americas, except what Europeans taught you. Your decision that "technological advancement" equals "advancement" in culture is another big problem. Unfortunately, it's that kind of ignorance about non-white "savage" cultures that we give white kids in European schools.

  • @melarry technological advancement changes culture dramatically its not opinion its a fact thats been put to the test on numerous occasions to think that your people were more culturaly advanced then europeans is just as ignorant i beleive that if it were reversed and native americans found england the native americans would have attacked the europeans in the same way some peoples ancestors attacked native americans our culture is the product of a people who could settle and build societies

  • @phillip549 on the opposite ends native americas crossed over from asia over the land bridge following mammoths during the first ice age into americaa wich had many resources but the people that first arrived didnt have the technology to use it we came over and started building homes and towns european culture is far richer than native american culture

  • @phillip549 Again, you're outlining why a little information without understanding is a dangerous thing. I don't have time to explain relative technology to cultural development to you. I'm afraid your attitude explains why northern European culture has destroyed the rest of the non-white world. You can't see past your own arrogance and ignorance. That said, have the last word you will HAVE to have, and let's leave it at that. There's no way to make anything non-porous absorb anything.

  • @melarry its not like native americans werent destructive before we got here they were killing each other just fine all im trying to say is mankind is destructive you say native americans are better than the europeans thats exactl what happened when europeans got here ever since i was little teachers have told me of the atrocities europeans committed and for you to just say that were learning that europeans were great annoys me let history be told and let people form their own opinions

  • @Georgiahulse 1200 years....AMERICA???, don't blaime me if u ment a village in england, but u (should) know, that america was "found" in 1492..

  • Saw this on TV a few years back - very interesting documentary.

  • I can think of more disrespectful things.

  • I agree. what is the point of digging up dead people? let them rest in peace

  • Well, I don't think we need to pretend corpses are inherently anything special.

It does, however, seem vaguely disrespectful to film this sort of thing for public consumption--particularly as the subject was, in some barely-accurate sense, a head of state at one point.

  • At 2:15, what is a "cranal (?) vault" and why would her face/head be on a seperate shelf like that?

  • @MontereyMatt I was there. The wooded caskets deterioated and fell apart. When it did parts of the caskets and bones fell from the resting shelf they were laid on and spilled onto the floor of the vault.

  • All that I can say is, let us not forget what they have done for us,freedom is more than just a word....its our right!!!

  • OMG, so before they used to laid the people body on top of a piece of wood,, without even putting in a cage or anything, I think tha't better than now......♥

  • wait i dont understand where they looking at george washingtons dead body?

  • No, this was the body of Samuel Huntington. Mr. Huntington was the first president under the former Articles of Confederation. Years later, the Articles of Confederation were dropped and the new U.S. Constitution was created - George Washington was made president then. But technically, Samuel Huntington was the FIRST president of the United States of America UNDER the Articles of Confederation in the early 1780s.

  • No what they say is that, Samuel Huntington was the firts President of USA, George was the second........♥

  • i think he was......i learn it back in grade school...president didnt exist yet till the revolution war started....so the people of the united state decided and choose George Washington insted of Huntington.....thats why George fought during the revolution war and beat i think the British.
