the biggest item on the checklist that keeps would-be travelers stuck on the ground that i can think of relates to any type of heart malformation, defect, deformity, weakness, or any problems with the circulatory system (even an abnormal blood pressure). this is the MOST COMMON dream crusher to wannabe astronauts that i know of. i, personally, have MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse), in which extra tissue has developed in the mitral (bicuspid) valve, preventing the valve from closing and...
...allowing blood to re-enter the left atrium from the left ventricle, which is supposed to pump that oxygenated blood into the body and to the brain. so that means i have heart palpitations and shortness of breath -- BIG no-no for being an astronaut. heart murmurs, palpitations, or other things are the biggest problems. it is common, though, for astronauts to undergo heart surgery to correct these things -- that extra tissue can easily be removed in surgery. that would allow me to go, i'm...
also on this checklist is a height requirement -- if you're too tall, you can't ride. there are other things -- i'll try to find this "checklist" for you, i'm sure it's on the NASA site somewhere.
Sorry to hear that you have the heart challenge, I understand the topic far too well, but you've got a very good approach to doing the best that you can to maximize your opportunities. Don't give up!!
Well, apart from money, you also need to pass many medical and psychological tests, before you are allowed to go to space, don't you?
Another thing is that people who say "I'd do anything to do this or that" actually mean no more no less than "Wow, it'd be cool to do that, but I wouldn't like to spent whole my life pursuing such whim, the gravitation of my everyday problems prevent me from even trying...". People rarely express themselves in precise words.
Soo cool.....

Hey, is there anything which you know would positively prevent you from going? Also, it's pricey, but commercial spaceflight might work out.
