rob zombie seems too focus more than the original, on what michael went through as a child and why he did what he did, imo they are both brilliant films
Rob Zombie's remakes of Halloween are some of the only remakes to come out of classic horror movies that don't completely blow. Like the Nightmare on Elm Street remake somehow manage to suck all the personality out of Freddy and that guy had some sick charisma. Zombie did good.
If you actually think about it, the sequels weren't all that good except H3 because originally it was an anthology series (its often overlooked and not as bad as people think)and the movie itself was original, H20 was pretty good because it ignored the sequels. Looking at the bad sequels, it just gets worst and worst, curse of Michael Myers made no sense, the mask gets cheap from H4 and 5, and overall the sequels doesn't make sense.

halloween 2007 version was okay its still not better than the orignial, but it was good too see it come back and if you think about it halloween (2007) version started alll of the big movie remakes.. but john carpenter thought the movie was terrible
I still would like to see a film by Rob Zombie that is totally his own. No obvious homages or influences to 60's or 70's cinema like with House of 1000 corpses and The Devil's Rejects even if they were more his own then say the Halloween remakes. I would want something made by Zombie that I used to love with White Zombie and in his music videos, like Dragula and Living Dead Girl. That fantastic combination that was also hinted at in his films. Why go period and set it in the past, be the future.
Man if only I had the money like this guy did, I would remake 1-3 & then make a series like Carpenter, Hill & Wallace intended to do...I know people would hate me b/c I would keep them true to the originals, even use certain film stock to make them look like late 70's early 80's.

biggest thing that pissed me off being an original myers fan.... zombie had to make michael some big ass 7 foot tall monster. Every movie Rob Zombie ever made is a white trailer trash film. The only thing he does to try to redeem the horrible quality of his films is to get permission from music companies to use some great songs from the 70's. However, his films still do truly stink.
This version is too pat, too simplified. It seems cliched, cheesy. Insulting to the original's intelligence and depth.
Michael's mother wasn't a stripper, his parents were wholesome Americans, that's what made it so frightening. He should have been completely normal, but he wasn't. Also, Zombie makes Jamie into this whiny little bitch. Carpenter's Laurie is smart, sympathetic. People in Carpenter's film are for the most part smart, who make mistakes. Zombie made a film filled with dumb people.

If people out there disagree then ask yourself this. Somebody who is a talented film maker can be easily spotted by the style of film, you watch anyone of his films and know his stuff. It hits you straight away that the film your watching has been painted by his brush, just like Spielberg, Lucas, Kubrick ect

I think people are awfully stuck up when it comes to Rob Zombies Halloween, i fucking loved it, obviously i preferred the original but Zombies version had loads going for it, i loved the look of it and the kids that played Mike Myers was just perfect, i loved all the scenes in the mental hospital

The first Halloween that Rob made was okay, but the second just totally sucked. Maybe it's because I'm used to the classic Halloweens, and his movies were completely different. And in the second one, Michael even talks! Well not really talks but he makes noises when he kills people. In my opinion it sucked.

i just wanna say without saying i prefer one over the other. the first was a classic and i can't really say anything bad about it. but i do really love and dig Rob Zombie's style I loved House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. I wouldn't really call myself a Halloween or even John Carpenter fan but I do love horror films and will defend Rob Zombie in doing his own version of it.

Rob should remake Alien, that movie is 30 years old now so you can remake it. Thing is it was done right the first time and was wildly successful so it's only down hill when you remake a movie. Except the money I guess, taking an artists idea that has already been proven to be successful seems like a cheap way to make money.
The remake of Halloween had gallons and gallons of blood and really did not deliver any scares. The original by John Carpenter, fucking terrified audiences and used NO BLOOD.
Rob Zombies film is not horrible but definetly not good. the childhood aspect was good and creepy but when it starts re imaging the movie then its not so great. it took all the good suspenceful chills and kills and made them more admature. and the fact that your remaking one of the greatest horror films EVER MADE, you shoud put all of ur effort into this one.

Ok it was filmed in Pasadena CA, in the summer time I know have the fucking DVD, DR Sam Loomis is the famous British Actor who is deceased. Donald Pleasence. He was also in John Carpenters Escape From New York. The original mask was a clown mask but they decided not to use it cuz it didnt seem scary. Donald Pleasnce was in the first film for at least about 7 scenes, and was well paid too by the way.

This version is too pat, too simplified. It seems cliched, cheesy. Insulting to the original's intelligence and depth.
Michael's mother wasn't a stripper, his parents were wholesome Americans, that's what made it so frightening. He should have been completely normal, but he wasn't. Also, Zombie makes Jamie into this whiny little bitch. Carpenter's Laurie is smart, sympathetic. People in Carpenter's film are for the most part smart, who make mistakes. Zombie made a film filled with dumb people.

if you pretend the original halloween did not exist and rob's take on it is the original, people would applaud it more. I think he did a good job, its very dark and emotionally freaky. If people out there disagree then ask yourself this. Somebody who is a talented film maker can be easily spotted by the style of film, you watch anyone of his films and know his stuff. It hits you straight away that the film your watching has been painted by his brush, just like Spielberg, Lucas, Kubrick ect

Ok to be fair to Robb Zombie he tried to do something akin to repainting the mona lisa.
He of course, failed horribly.
But thats what happens when a hack director with little to no talent tries to copy and regurgitate the work of a true genius like John Carpenter.

The first Halloween that Rob made was okay, but the second just totally sucked. Maybe it's because I'm used to the classic Halloweens, and his movies were completely different. And in the second one, Michael even talks! Well not really talks but he makes noises when he kills people. In my opinion it sucked.

i just wanna say without saying i prefer one over the other. the first was a classic and i can't really say anything bad about it. but i do really love and dig Rob Zombie's style I loved House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Hey Rob had a mighty task on his hands, but the guy did a fair job. House of a 1000 corpses rocked. As for remakes there will always be a thirst for them Texas Chainsaw M, etc we all watch them including me. I would love to see remakes of the older stuff Blood sucking freaks, The Burning etc of course in digital 3D. Keep up the good work Rob stay twisted.

Rob should remake Alien, that movie is 30 years old now so you can remake it. Thing is it was done right the first time and was wildly successful so it's only down hill when you remake a movie. Except the money I guess, taking an artists idea that has already been proven to be successful seems like a cheap way to make money.

Rob Zombies film is not horrible but definetly not good. the childhood aspect was good and creepy but when it starts re imaging the movie then its not so great. it took all the good suspenceful chills and kills and made them more admature. and the fact that your remaking one of the greatest horror films EVER MADE, you shoud put all of ur effort into this one.

Ok it was filmed in Pasadena CA, in the summer time I know have the fucking DVD, DR Sam Loomis is the famous British Actor who is deceased. Donald Pleasence. He was also in John Carpenters Escape From New York. The original mask was a clown mask but they decided not to use it cuz it didnt seem scary. Donald Pleasnce was in the first film for at least about 7 scenes, and was well paid too by the way.
