yup, they are gorgeous dogs. still no sign of the owners which means they were deliberately abandoned on my street hoping someone would take them in. In these hard economic times, PLEASE do NOT abandon your PETS!!! Call the breed-specific rescue groups or take them to the pound!!!
The latest on these two beautiful dogs is that their owner(s) NEVER showed up. Not even anonimously! It became impossible to keep the dogs together, so many people just wanted the Weimaraner, that we had to let them be separated and each went to their specific breed rescue organizations, to ensure that they would get proper care and be placed in good homes. The Weimaraner is with a family on 5 acres locally, and is an "only" dog, which she loves. The Setter went to a rescue home in Stillwater.
I laughed when the Weim went for the chair. Leave it to a Weim to try to find the most comfortable place in the house. The Setter looks like such a sweet dog. Hope they both find good homes.
Another update: the Weimaraner has many families wanting to adopt her, however we are still hoping the owners will show up. The Gordon Setter is the most loving dog and if she had puppies, they are weaned now! Hopefully they were weaned BEFORE she went on this adventure. The local AKC Oklahoma chapter of Gordon Setters will take her if we cannot find her owner or a new family soon. So both are being well taken care of, thanks everyone!
We would be more than happy to foster until the owner or appropriate new owners can be found. I tried to get in touch via phone and haven't heard back yet. I hope someone that is familiar with the breed is taking care of them. If someone is still needed, feel free to return the call on your voicemail or text message (if you got the text). Thanks!
I'm not sure who you contacted, but I couldn't find your e-mail in my inbox. But I have had quite a lot of responses, both phone and e-mail, plus I am in the middle of moving, so I could have missed it. I'm sorry! Thankfully, both dogs are being cared for, separately now, and if the owners don't show up soon, they will be carefully placed with new families.
a lot of people want the Weimaraner. but she is not being adopted out yet in case the owners do turn up. it has only been 3 days. thanks for your concern. :)
Well I hope whoever you're giving these dogs to you get all their information because I know someone is out there looking for their precious girls, these are well cared for dogs. Especially with the Gordon probably having puppies somewhere.
nope, haven't heard a thing from the owners. Hard to say what happened. we are still hoping they will show up. and no, they did not have id chips, or tags, we don't even know their names!
update: no one has claimed these gorgeous girls yet, and I have to move, so someone has offered to take them both and continue to look for their owner(s). They are obviously well-loved, well-taken-care-of dogs. PLEASE let me know if you know who they belong to or if you will take them both. thanks1
Both are extemely beautiful dogs - I do hope their owner claims them. If they do not, I am a foster for a Weim Rescue and would consider fostering the Weim. Please feel free to contact me if you cannot find a home for them.
