Don't take everything so seriously. (Randy is a satirical writer. He writes songs from the view points of people with extreme ideas about the world.) Thanks atomashen, I couldn't have put it better
Just because he's satirical, doesn't mean he's right. Its a cool style and I'm not saying he's wrong, but you can't think that just because he has an interesting way of writing songs he's automatically right.
@crazypianolady no.he would have you BELIEVE it is satire, but he really means it. short people are the most evil, historically....Hitler, Kim Jong il, Genghis Khan, and of course, the jews of which he is one.
@mrswozzle Maybe that's what you think but that's a slight overgeneralisation. There are lots of evil tall people too - Idi Amin, Saddam Hussain, Fidel Castro and of course Osama Bin Laden.
well, dear! you can't have an opinion unless you listen to something! So that bit of advice is a wee bit impractical. I did like one of his songs "you can keep your hat on" because of the hilarious lyric..the sight of someone you know being naked the whole time but wearing a hat! That is funny!
He is a very rude man! I have listened to his lyrics and he and I BOTH know that this is what he really thinks! Stop trying tog et him off the hook! just listen to "Political Science", "My country" or any of his so called "Great" songs. He is a small man with small man syndrome who appeals to others like him who are embittered and jealous of others, mainly jews.
@mrswozzle I respect your opinion, even though its wrong, and ask that if you dont like Randy's music couldn't you just reframe from listening to it ?
Randy is a satirical writer. He writes songs from the view points of people with extreme ideas about the world. Characters in his songs are sociopathic and don't reflect Randy's opinions. His songs are in some matter a protest. Here, he creates a money-loving stereotypical character, that racists would claim to be Jewish because Randy is. Songs like Short People, Mr. Sheep, My Life is Good are written in the same manner. "God's Song" shows what Randy thinks about religion, look it up.
Something about was said about truth being stranger than fiction I think the song could be more about truth than fiction but Oh Mama its money that I love - Ever try to live without it????????
I once dreamed I had died and went to heaven. St Peter welcomed me at the gate because I was a Catholic (he told me ever different person was greeted by whom ever would most make them feel welcome and at home, and we both laughed about that because that was so funny of God to be so accommodating seeing we do not really present him like that at all). Anyway Pete told me Jesus loved a good sing-along and asked me to sing. Next thing Jesus, I and everyone were singing "it's money that I love". Haha
Sigh , Is it AS rude as to disqualify someone else's lighthearted opinion , because your expierences ,not only include a god, but are also favourable towards that god? In fact , take away that line that so offends you and you HAVE your anthem :}
(since you like caps so much I thought I'd join in)
I really think its RUDE that TJcollatrella said this should be the national anthem! Did'nt ANYONE hear him say "i dont love god, he did nothing for me"!! Well i dont know about you but.. I do love god and he does EVREYTHING for me.
@InitiateZ Um...yeah he was - check out The Story Of A Rock And Roll Band. He also slapped the shit out The Who and The Stones in "I'm Dead and I Don't Know" ("every record that I'm making/Is like a record that I mad/JUST NOT AS GOOD" and Jackson Browne and Mellancamp on his last album. The man is fearless and doesn't give a fuck. He writes what he feels and it shows.
Randy's uncles, Emil, Lionel and Alfred Newman, were famous composers who worked in movies and TV. Emil wrote the 20th Century Fanfare. Randy's works for films is following in his familiy's footsteps, not selling out. I personally prefer his regular songs to the ones he's written for movies though.
I mean the song itself, with the lyrics especially, talking about how rock bands tend to be all about making the big bucks...and it is believed (what with the album cover) that he had Kiss in mind
on the cover of the 1979 album, "Born Again"...from where this song originally came, Randy is pictured with his face painted up somewhat Kiss-like...go to Google-images & type in "Randy Newman Born Again"...you'll see
@Eddie62070 Yea, dollar signs on his eyes, cent signs on his children in the photo, hahahaha, Randy takes no prisoners, album was a blast on on lot of different parts of society, but yes, the cover was clearly a slam on KISS (After all, its Money KISS loves....hahahahaha)
@Eddie62070 Meant no dis-respect, seriously. KISS had some great tunes. More that Randy had this take no prisoners approach, on the same album he blasted ELO pretty bad, also. KISS was really just the album cover thing. Randy started doing movie soundtracks. Actually, uh hum, remember Oingo Boingo, and Danny Elfman, hahahaha, big jump from "Little Girls" into ad nasuem SoundTracks. Its money that they all love, as well as me, but I don't seem to be as good at accomplishing that... |:-)>
