My sisters & one of my friends all took 12 years of piano lessons at a very professional studio. I've been trying for a long time to get them to learn some Hornsby songs.
A great song that should have been a major hit--when an artist speaks out about issues such as the environment, pop radio usually ignores the song. This song had trouble getting airplay 20 years ago--today it wouldn't have a snowball's chance because of Clear Channel and the rest.
@bobbo428 IT WAS a major hit in Australia, apart from that Bruce Hornsby is a very special musician. His message is clear but his style is so endearing, it draws you in.
My Dad was a great piano player. He preferred the Ragtime Jazz style but back in the sixties when I started playing guitar he could play any Beatles current pop songs after just one listen. I wish he had heard Bruce Hornsby's stuff Dad would have been blown away.
Wow, GREAT piano playing. Love Bruce!!!!!

Great song, classic Hornsby tune. I remember the video for this song with Levon Helm in it on MTV.

This song is brilliant. It's also one of the few I know that have a downward key change - B to A...

Message or no message this is one of the best pop songs of the 80's. Those who recognize that are definitely enlightened.
