  • Sounds like butthole when hse say buttonhole :/

  • My mom taught me how to do this a long time ago, but I forgot and three buttons recently fell off my coat. I just sewed them back on :) Thanks for the help

  • Reminds me why I became rich. To pay other people to do things such as this!

  • Thanks ! As unbelievable as it may seem I never knew how to sew a button !

  • First off, thanks Jenny. I haven't sewed much in life so this is helpful. One question, if the garment to be sewed was worn earlier in the week and is in the wash, is it okay to wash first and then sew or vice versa? Just want to make sure. Thanks in advance

  • This must be for men. step by step. yes, i need a wife. SMH, until then, im forced to sew my self, dammit

  • I bought something off the store & when I put it in the Spin-Dryer, the button popped off. This is a very helpful video for people like me who don't have a background in sewing. The sewing action is a bit off the upper-left hand side, so I was struggling to follow it at first, but it got better (centering).

I was able to successfully sew my 1st button, LOL! Thank you, Jenny T.

  • Thanks, very helpful. I don't get the hate here. If you don't have seven minutes of patience for watching an instructional video, sewing is probably not for you.

  • do u have a criss croseed method?

  • @nihonjon Agreed

  • wow, such hostility for such a helpful video! thank you, i managed to get my button back onto my suit!

  • less is more, bitch

  • Nicely done. Thanks for the instruction.

  • This is a very good video. Don't pay any attention to the preceding comments. If you want to learn how to sew on a button, if you need a well-shot, close-up video with clear instructions, this is it!

  • Thanks for the help.

  • i used to sew....untill i took an arrow to the knee

  • Thanks a lot ! Was pretty useful and handy !

  • I used a little sewing kit from a hotel I picked up probably 15 years ago and it worked great! Sewed 2 busted buttons tonight!

  • I think Jenny T. is very hot. Where can I meet Jenny T.

  • thanx jenny t nice gunz

  • Jenny is kind of hot!! And she saved me a pair of pants

  • that was very helpfull tanx alot xx :)

  • @ 4:35 amen to that!

  • Many thanks :)

  • if she was standing at a table naked and in a warehouse this would be a lot easier to watch.

  • Thanx, I actually needed the introduction to help introduce my speech on "How to sew on a button"!

  • Thanks so much!!

  • Thank you. You made that look very easy. I have a a pair of shorts I only wear two times and the button fell of and they have been in the draw ever since. I will wear them today.

Thank you to you and YouTube.

  • You look hot in your tight polo

  • less talky more sewey :-)

  • Thanks so much, my husband can wear his favorite shirt again! (:(:(:

  • why did you do it straight? i never seen a damn shirt with the buttons sewed on straight.

  • Christ woman piss or get off the pot. Just tell us how to sew a stupid button without asking obvious rhetorical questions for 45 minutes on end!!!! Youtube is too democratic.

  • @EjkoUSC "too democratic." What a douche.

  • thanks for the great video. very helpful

  • Oh, i ran out of thread at the end and only do 1 round around the button. But it still looks intact. Thanks for the video.

  • the thread comes off the needle every time I try to do this. what am I doing wrong?

  • @sanan22 Make sure the ends of the thread are knotted together.

  • Thanks so much JennyT! It's exciting and empowering to learn how to sew a button and see how easy it really is! Now I'm inspired to reinforce the other buttons still on my shirt (they are very nice buttons and I don't want to risk losing them).

  • jenny t is cute and smart. nice video.

  • Elliot from Scrubs!!

  • Thank you for this video! :) I just fixed all the buttons on my laboratory coat!

  • YAY!!! I can FINALLY Sew a button on, this video realy helped me and for that ThankYou!

  • Hey, thanks. I just fixed my fav pair of short too!

I had to look up "how to thread a needle" first, but I agree.

    Basic skill everyone should know.

  • @myRisque Nah, you're just a bit thick, this vide is great - minus the preample (thanks egrl2444)

  • how the fuck do u double thread the needle :S

  • I've just successfully repaired my favorite pair of shorts thanks to this video. Thanks!

  • @ChipMidnight I just did the same. :)

  • You, madam, are a seamstress of superior quality. Not only do you know how to sew, but you are excellent at giving clear and concise directions. I thank you!

  • good job jenny t, thanks! you're cute too! :)

  • i want to know how to make a knot thick enough so that the tread doesnt pull straight through, thats the only bit you assumed people knew.

  • @m0nstermadness Try knotting it multiple times. It works.

  • Thank you so very much. This was a Big help

  • Thank you this was great.

  • i give up... this is why i pay my tailor.

  • Hey, this is very helpful. Thanks!

  • The best demonstration of how to do a shank button that I've found on YouTube. Thank you very much!

  • I agree with mem89756 - get to the explanation. Don't spend so long on the preamble. A boring one minute lead up. The good stuff starts at 1:15.

  • @egrl2444 True just start instruction.

  • thanks a ton for the instructional! i've never sewed a thing before, but the main button on my favorite around-the-house pants fell off. with your help, everything is perfect again. AND, i learned something new today :)

  • Thank you! I love my shorts again.

  • YOUTUBE SAVED MY SHORTS! Thanks DraperyIdeas :).

  • Don't sell my on sewing a button on. I am already here.

The how to starts at 1:15.

  • @mem89756 get some patience its 99 cents at your local store....

  • @Markofitch Our point is that we don't need to be "sold" on the idea as we've all sought out the instructions to begin with. We are not on YouTube randomly watching videos and coming from a place of spontaneously deciding to sew a button on. Call it constructive criticism. Thanks to DraperyIdeas for the original post.

  • @m18c65yt On the flip-side, the criticism was and is totally unnecessary in this regard. You all came here to find a video that explained how to sew a button on, you found it, you followed the instructions, you learned how to sew, and then you proceeded to bitch about how the video didn't fit your specific needs. If you can make a better video, do so. This fake concern for whether or not the video was concise and to the point is just that: fake.

  • @Ether6123 True.Btw,i finished buttoned back my shirt using this video. Not bad for man with zero experience in sewing. This video is all good XD

  • Props ma'am - you helped me sew a button back on my work vest.

  • THANK YOU!!!!! NOW MY SHORTS ARE FIXED :)

  • Jenny, I watched a couple of other how to videos before I came to yours. IMO yours was, by far, the clearest and easiest to follow. I especially liked the idea of using pins to help create a shank. I have saved this to my "How to do practical things" playlist. Great job and thanks so much!

  • thankyou! this was extremely helpful!;))

  • Thank you! This was very helpful!!!
