I think it's funny but I VASTLY enjoy the F-Word better (for example, in season 1 he was generally nice to the comies he had in the kitchen who were aspiring chefs). It's just not over produced and he seems more genuine.

@intheTea04 Actually, have you ever watched any of his British shows? He's actually pretty nice to staff and customers. He definitely has an acerbic sense of humor (if you have a tongue stud and say the food is bland, he'll call you out on it) but he's generally okay. If he's in teacher mode, he's totally super nice and just very enthusiastic. But he can be tough on the staff, especially if the staff aren't living up to their purported expectations. Basically, he's pissed off at stupid people.

Why I know this? I made some research. The guards are there to protect the staff from harm, not only Gordon. If they were NOT present, they had to call the police and actually handle a situation those guards easily can do, if they are present.
