I never liked this kind of music - especially when it was on fashion - I found it too commercial ... but Mike was on another planet - I always had a lot of respect for him and his music - an original approach to trane legacy and light years far from being mere technical trial - ah incidentally I was there on that night in Perugia :) just for Mike..

I'd say MB is an odd man in. He is different enough from the others to be an irresistible attraction for them and different enough to keep them and us interested and coming back again and again to listen to him and others who operate inside and outside of the box. Fusion is very cool (a little play on words, 'cool jazz'). I'm not saying fusion=cool jazz, to explain.
Nice product placement @ 2:02

I was crazy about that band at the time. Now I'm not, but I still think that was a great gig. I would have love to be there that night. Lucky guy...

1st ,, fantastic video ,, it captures all of the mood of 80s fusion
breaker has always been the odd person out in my funk library,,,,,
but now seeing him on vid ,, i can see how much he realy wants coltrane ,as opposed to my idea of copying him ,,

I was back stage at this concert,
I made friends with Peter and Victor at the Pori Jazz festival.
Check it out one of those Basses that Victor has was a prototype with an exchangable frettless neck.
PS - Chuck Loeb is sharp
