You can either steal something or kill someone and go to jail that way you get the brotherhood as well as thieves guild note as soon as you come out of jail wait around in the imperial city a dark elf women will come up to you and say its from a friend i forgot her name.. Or you can make a beggar like you and ask him about the gray fox that will also let you join hope this helped.

u r all wrong about it, all you need to do for the theives guild is go to jail, once you are out of jail you will get the letter. Or just visit a beggar and bribe them, then ask them about the grey fox.

Guys the Gray Fox is that Stranger u have to go to for the letters aswell when u deliver the letters to the countess look behind u on a bench its the gray fox ( Stranger) the stranger is the old countess's husband ( AKA the gray fox) He was cursed by his dad or uncle or some old bad relitive.

There are alot of bugs and glitches in this game, i mean ALOT. Just be careful when doing quests that you do exactly as the quest tells you and you wont run into nearly half the bugs compared to if you do things out of order

If you talk to the beggars after returning the stone to The Gray Fox, rather than before, Amusei may never come for the next quest.

Probably. If you have a PC there is a code you can use to fix the problem. If not starting over is the only way I know to fix it.

Yes there are two options.

1. Open the console (by pressing ~) and type in "setstage TG08Blind 50". This will place you at the next stage. You will then receive a message stating the Gray Fox wants to see you.

2. Use the console command "player.placeatme 0003563B". This will put Amusei directly in front of you.

Use both codes without the parenthesis. I was just showing you what the code is. Hope that helps. :)
