  • He still charges, see him at the point and old mans alot. Specially during winter swells, taking off on double over head bombs. Very chill guy, never a ounce of agro, he's there to surf...

  • I grew up in San Diego. . around this time 1969. . Skip shaped a board for me, a 7' 4" that I so wish I had never sold. I competed on that board and did very well with it. It had that magic quality that is so hard to describe. Skip is also such a nice guy.

  • Very good, thanks.Nice music, muy apropiada para el estilo de la epoca.

  • i saw this legend at terra mar the other day. amazing to see him surfing that close up!

  • How dare you sir!

The world knows, the most accomplished surfers require a day-glo wetsuit, a helmet and a 13' board shaped like a banana to properly carve a curl...

    Bazinga!

  • @halbo007 It's nice to see children like yourself posting i suppose.

  • @RoyStewart wow roy stewart on youtube. skip and his boards ride waves much better than you or your equipment ever will. AND, he was doing it 40+ years ago. when you insult him and his equipment, you expose yourself for the narrowminded new zealand wanna be you are.

  • As usual, Roy makes a fool of himself. Mainly because he never learned to surf. The problem is, as usual, Roy's mental disorder.

  • @bartgos A ridiculous statement. Frye can't even string two logical sentences together. In my opinon his surfing is awkward inefficient flapping, and his longboards are poorly designed.

  • Respond to this video... having an opinion on the efficiency of a surfboard does not constitute mental disorder.

  • 90% awkward flapping, many uncoordinated moments. The problem is as usual the board design.

  • @RoyStewart thats why you're roy stewart...nobody...and hes skip frye...a legend.

  • @brendonmasters

Frye's flapping is not caused by me.

  • @RoyStewart Post something of you trimming a 7 6 foam board with no rocker

  • That ain't 'loggin'...those were 'radical' short boards back then.

  • Skip frye is my aunts husbands dad, fuckin awsome guy man.And if you dont believe me no worries, I can still say I know him hahaha

  • This guy owned PB Point even when it was packed. As a grom I patterned my surfing after Skip Frye, Billy Hamilton and Nat Young.

  • I grew up surfing the Cove watching Skip for years. I copied his backhand style. A true fluid, graceful surfer

  • Trunken and loggin... the way it should be!

  • On a surfboard, what is the contour of a 'rolled bottom'?

  • fantastics!!

  • love skip's completely unpretentious surfing. It was all about trim, not even about style. The style just flowed out of the focus on trim. It came naturally.

  • As a grom I patterned my surfing from watching Skip Frye shredding at the Point, Cove and Hairmo's. I did the same from seeing footage of Nat Young and Billy Hamilton too.

Thanks for posting this video! :-)

  • Frye's surfing style is obviously some of the best. More importantly, you were out there ahead of the pack as an East Coast surfer / movie maker. Great clip and classic Yerkes music as usual. Will

  • i can not get enough of Skip's style. So smooth...
