I think that it is unique to note that Ralph does this thing,seemingly when he's nervous or a bit put off,he tends to cover his mouth, very gently, as if both comforting imself and hiding from whomever he's speaking with,the more forward or the bolder he becomes, he removes his hand. Charlie is somewhat of a bully I think in terms of extracting precisely what he wants to hear from his guests,as if, when they begin to tread ground that is too emotional, he shuts them down.
