  • hmm.. in alll my years of living in italy, i have never come across cheesecake.. maybe some cannoli filling, but baked cheesecake ?

    now i'm not saying thats not good, but its not italian.

    yeah i know i'm being fussy, but its kinda weird to claim something is italian when in fact it's not.

  • @dig6dog Nah. Read about it... in Ancient Rome, they used ricotta-like cheese, honey, and flour to make cheesecake. It was traditionally made into loaves, and some recipes even called for bay leaves.

    Italian-style cheesecake uses ricotta or mascarpone, sugar, vanilla extract, and sometimes barley flakes. It's usually drier than American cheesecake.

    I have friends from Italy, that's how I know this.
