These suckers are NASTY! They built a nest right outside the front door of my in a cedar bush. Well one day to my unfortunate surprise I discovered it when I was watering my garden. I was stung 4-5 times before I could run into the house, and it was the worst pain of my life. My arm swelled up, went weak and numb. I was dizzy it was awful. I'm all about live and let live but these guys had to die. They are not friendly or peaceful. If they build a nest in or around you home get rid of it fast!
Ever hear of the term wasp waist? Wasps are very skinny near the abdomen!
Understand that bumblebees are hairy and fat!
Wasps have skinny midsections and can be yellow black and brown such as a paper wasps or European hornets.
Baldfaced hornets are white and black and are fatter than wasps where yellow jackets are smaller and have bright yellow and black markings and are extremely aggressive!
Now is the time of year of the yellow jacket! They are either aerial(above ground nesters) or below grond nesters! Do NOT MESS with yellow jackets! They will send off a scent phermone if one is killed in the nest!
The yellow jacket sting is extremely painful! These wasps are very aggressive!

They are agressive and stay away from them if you are near their nest!

@padude64 Thank you padude64, yes, I believe you are correct. This does indeed appear to be a bald faced hornet and not a wasp.

@michael6malone The Bald Faced Hornet was misclassified as a hornet due to its size and shape it is a wasp closely related to Yellow-Jackets.

Ah kent aw the fences were daeing a nash because of these wasps.
I think this wasp comes to Gracemount and thinks ah huvnae noticed.
I used to huv 6 feet fence panels but now the neigbours rabbit jumps over them. Wasps are distructive wee b*st**ds.
