@hobosandbuttmonkeys at least the same country-lol Tucson has a tidy little psych underground, and lays claim to the just-about-unknown 60's group "The Bucket City Distortion Racket"
@hobosandbuttmonkeys all the same, it was better here in the 80;s when my own band (a truly obscure outfit by the name of "Died Orange") was part of the retro scene -- btw, I 'm digging octopusmime's spelling of "milquetoast"(comment below this one,I think...) - --- The Troggs and the Thirteenth Floor Elevators are other 60's bands I tend to favor
@akibubba1 My band.. What I have of one, my friend and I, call ourselves The Orange Vinyls. We love all all sorts of stuff. The Seeds, The Music Machine,= The Troggs, Strawberry Alarm Clock, The Zombies, The Doors. And like, garage rock revival bands like The Cramps, The Gruesomes, etc. I play bass and organ and she plays guitar. We have two songs up here on Youtube but I don't know if it's really the sound we're going for yet. We still have a lot of time to progress.
@hobosandbuttmonkeys good to see someone else w/ "Orange" in the name (lol...)- my group broke up in '87, but now my teenage daughter's a musician, and she can contribute to anything that remnants of the old members still write - I've got a ton of post-'87 lyrics still in a folder that haven't had music put to them ( maybe I send you guys some lyrics, and you add groovy tunes, and we all end up not-so-rich-and-famous...hee hee)
@akibubba1 We were stumped on names and so we decided on two things we like, the coluor Orange, and Vinyl records. How old is your daughter? I'm 14 myself, my friend is 17. She has yet to get her guitar. I have yet to get and actual organ that I could take places. I have a fancy official organ, not a Vox, which I prefer. And I'd like to see those lyrics! We get stumped on them.
Sorry if I replied to you twice, my computer is being odd. I don't think we've had a proper introduction. I am Shannon
@hobosandbuttmonkeys hello Shannon - I'm Dan, and my daughter is 16 - she is entering her Junior year of HS and has always been a hard core band kid (which makes me a band booster dad - oh,well--someone's gotta be the "yuppie") - I'll see if I can find a shorter lyric as a sample & send it w/ a future reply
r.i.p. Sky Sunlight...it was so nice meeting him in August '08, less uptight guy than most the crowd at his show. I think he embodied The Seeds' connection between the earlier garage "punk" and a trippier psych sound. The group were both at the same time, and their tough attitude (in Sky's voice and phrasing) made the message of longing for love and peace all that more urgent.

for me this is one of the seeds best songs, with the swirling organ and those lyrics,SKY SAXON WILL BE MISSED,BUT NOT FORGOTEN,i think that even john lydon from the sex pistols was even influenced by his singing syle.
come to the SKY SUNLITE SAXON MEMORIAL/CELEBRATION 24 JULY 2009 @ ECHOPLEX LOS ANGELES CA. WE WILL FINISH THE NITE WITH ORIGINAL SEEDS JAN SAVAGE-GUITAR AND DARYL HOOPER-ORGAN ALONG WITH ALL STAR SEEDS BAND !!!
I was going to say this is probably the most romantic garage tune ever, but no need to qualify it that way, is there? Lovely and rockin'. Rest in love, Sky/Sunlight!
i worked with rich the drummer from the seeds for the past several years. im a drummer . he told me about the band he was in but i didnt realize how big they were. to bad to say he sufferd a sroke in 200 or a round there and is currently retired
The Seeds' popularity here in Southern California must not be underestimated. They were a major band with hits like "Pushin' Too Hard", "Mr. Farmer", "Can't Seem To Make You Mine", "A Thousand Shadows", and "Tripmaker". LP cut "Up In Her Room" got nighttime AM radio play despite its length. Sky Saxon and The Seeds played The Hollywood Bowl to screaming fans.
FUCK THE BEATLES ! any true fan of 60s music knows they pale in comparison. i hate how popular they are.

Golly, it's hard to find people in my area with this music taste.
I have one friend who likes this music and we play together.
Sucks because it might be a while before we find people to complete the band.
