bigragu, Great story. Years ago I used to train at Brixton boxing club in Herne Hill above the Half Moon pub. I used to spar with Danny Williams when he was around 15 16 years old. I was in Thailand when he fought Tyson and did not stay up at silly hours to watch the fight as I did not want to see my friend Danny take a beating. when I did watch the replay it is clear Tyson incurred a leg injury, he winces after a sudden move and from then on his punches have no power.
the ending of that story was amazing, what a nice guy buster was haha, but that shows his confidence. I think another factor of that fight for buster winnin was his trainer, (mike had clowns in his corner, erin snow sucks) that gritty raspy voice busters main man had u could ehar him every round "work baby work!" "don't lean!" "uppercut!" all at the perfect times. By the way it was in the 8th mike dropped buster, but buster finished mike in the 9th, good vid peace.
my bad Mike dropped him in the 8th, Buster did work on him in the 9th(mikes first rope-a-dope) then dropped him early in the 10th. It's weird everyone thinks Buster dropped him in the 8th or 9th, i even saw Burt Sugar(sorry if i spelled his name wrong) say on ESPN Classic that buster knocked mike out in the 9th, once.
It's all good. I think people get the KO round mixed up because of all the excitement in the 9th round. It was amazing to see Buster dominate like that right after being knocked down the previous round. But what people forget is that Buster wasn't really hurt from the knock down, it was more of a flash knock down. If the count was faster he would have gotten up faster. The 9th round flew by because it was so amazing IMO!
I have to admit that when I saw Buster on the ring I said ohh Jesus, you can see it on his eye.
My personal favorite sport moment was the fight of Sugar Ray Leaonard against Marvin "Marvelous" Hagler. When the fight finishes I will always remember saying to my Mom, "when I gorw up I want to be like him "She said a winner refering to Leonard" and I say NO, like the meanest bald head MOFO I have ever seen. Any way, in my heart Hagler won that fight.
I was 17 also when they fought and i stayed up to about 4-5 in te morning to watch, after the fight i could not sleep after what i had just witnessed.....great story!!!
Yeah. I kinda had the inside scoop on that fight. The bookie jump uup the odds because he wasn't getting any action. We got 110-1 odds for the KO of Tyson. But my dad never bet it. I gave him the money, he held on to it because he didn't believe me. Son of a....
