@Kyle7124 I personally am not the hugest fan of metallica, i mean I like them, but you've got to put in perspective that Rob's previous works were main works were in Sucidal Tendencies (a hardcore band) and Infectious Grooves (a Funk Metal band) and that a lot of the styles of writing that he does are very different.

@2ndperspective Well basicly it's a technique called slap, but he kinda customized it: the stance he has makes it easier for him to mute de strings and to slap with his left hand. Usualy the slap is performed by the right hand, but experienced bass players also slap with the left hand. 50% of this is just for the show, but I love it anyway =D

Like have you heard Cliffs intro to For Whom The Bells Tools compared to Robs intro? He plays a high note were Cliff just went on... There are many examples were Rob has made a little difference in the songs. I don't say Cliff was a better bassist, but he was the true metallica Bassist... he wrote the original songs!
