@ 43:43 Lewin writes down the equation 0.5mv² = mMG/R. I am assuming the right side of the equation should represent the gravitational force; but if this is true, shouldn't R be squared to make the equation: 0.5mv² = mMG/R² ? Or am I overlooking some detail I didn't see?
@Gigano1986 no, he said that the mechanical energy should be zero, so Em=0 --> Ec = -Up, where Up is the gravitational potencial energy, and that's what he wrote.
Dear texxxicano, it's not only M31 with a blueshift already observed. I show somewhere that NGC 4216 in Virgo also shows a strong blueshift. Perhaps because our local Galaxy Group is moving to the constellation of Virgo.
@lorent123 If he was a physicist he would write you an "error" ticket as well. Green is a higher frequency than red, not lower. Watch the lecture again!! LOL
@throwabrick "that would be a good joke, except that green light has a *higher*"
And if the policeman knew any physics (doubtful), he could issue him a ticket for exceeding the speed limit by at least 8% of the speed of light, or about 53 million miles per hour. And *that's* no joke.
so when people die and go to "hell" their universe collapses and they turn into billions of degrees of heat?
i agree with the 4D Concept such as u cannot see gravity and cannot see or thoughts have an equation so its being controlled in some way that is not in the "Scientific Universe" where everything is dealt with astronomical mathimatics such as how computer software physics and dynamics operate
u know when its better to be happy than wise is said.. well this is i think the Best Example

The Dutch accent of this teacher is really bad and very obvious for any Dutchie listening to this. Still, he does a good job explaining.

This was the clearest class I have ever listened to! No wonder, MIT, huh...
Teachers here should take notice.

Haha, imagine a guy saying to the police:
"I did not see the red traffic light because of the Doppler Effect, the light emmited came to me as green because the frequency was lower.."

He makes a mistake on the board at 7:15 doesn't he? He didn't substitute F=C/Wavelength for F and F'.
solo2wolf 3 years ago
He skipped a few steps. each equation would have a c that would divide out. All that matters is frequency and wavelength are inversely proportional.
