@Kastraelie If yo go out and and shoot 100 pictures a day, which would be a ton, you could shoot for 8 years on that camera. Most people shoot 2-5 times a week, and you will most likely upgrade your camera before its exposure dies.
a question ... so lets say you had this camera and you went thru 300,000 shots ... do you take it to a camera place to get it serviced just like a car to keep using it? or just pack it in and get a new camera ....
you send it into Canon. I have a friend that has a ton more shots on his 30D than what canon said it would last. A new shutter unit is less than $200 I think

Yes just like a car.
All cameras should have a periodic check up after all, camera equipment is a considerable investment.

10 fps is good for some photographers not for all. The same goes for weather resistance.
Also, the differece between 1Ds Mark III and 5D Mark II does not justify the cost of 1Ds Mark III
