Like anybody else i like your shows!!!! is it legal to dig in the states?
i have also a quastion about a detector u bought one but he bleeps on all metal while i turn the seting to tone and disc how come, do you have a clue? Gr, Raymond
be careful with live shells guy in richmound blew hisself up disarming one.i live in stafford va i have been digging for over 25 years and have alot of fun doing it most of the spots here are gone to shopping centers and sudivisions but i allways have the good memories
i was detecting around by a river and i found sumthing kinda like keith's at 3:48 but it turned out it was part of an old rusted septic tank. but good find you guys keep up the videos!
@SCdigger Hello Digger nice to watch this vid and see pieces of the items of that facinating episode of your history. I dig in England my home, also do the same digs across in France and around the Somme area. I always like to find personal items like a badge,a button or perhaps an eating fork from mess kits sometimes with the soldiers numer on it. Not possible to dig on the main sights in France now; one has to find a friendly farmer to allow you on his land.
What fun and cool stuff. I hope you're keeping GPS coordinates of what you find, and where--and giving the info to the state historical society so the pro historians and archaeology can then put the info in proper context! (grad school in history here, sorry!). It's cool to do this--but please please save and record the info if you do!
wow wish we had places with that sort of finds up here in vt. but all our places where any battles were fought are off limits. protected land. or the owners of the properties say no.
Awsome!! One of those bullets could have killed my 4th generation grandfather!!He was in the 41st infantry tuscaloosa plowboys! Died in the battle of atlanta
Do you ever consider documenting the GPS positions of the "greater finds", such as, the large shells and hopefully bigger pieces - so as to help the CWPT people or even the HISTORY CHANNEL? I'm a member or CWPT and CIVIL WAR buff and certainly commend your efforts to at least retrieving them, but would also hope their locations be recorded for future generations and historians.Best of luck in your adventures.
I love your videos! You got me started in this hobby. Once I saw you in action, I was hooked. I just acquired a White's Coinmaster 4000D...it's old, but it seems to get the job done. I haven't found any great relics yet, but I know it's coming. :]
I really like watching your hunts. But what I would like to hear is your target responses. If you could let us hear your target audio responses before you dig - That would be great! This goes for your other members of your team. Thanks again.
Great stff SCD, found some old bottles the other day, nothing like what you have though. Although did find a wood hold for a fire place very old. very brittle. Anyway lots of skimishes down here in the ox swamp area of Clarendon County SC. (Manning, SC) Maybe take a look at my vids, hope to get your opinion, thanks and God Bless....

hey SCdigger, do you have to get permission to do digs like these? Because I assumed that all battle sites were State parks?
forum157sf 1 year ago
This was private property, and yes, we had permission from the landowner. Thanks for watching!

Your attitude regarding interested amateurs and GPS is refreshing. The academic archaeologists are obsessed with irrelevant methodology.
These guys really love and care about this stuff.

Are those are discarded projectiles? They must have been left behind in retreat, for they would look a lot different if deployed, I think.
am I right?
