This seems like a silly experiment. I see leashes on very small children all the time, but the parents don't do it to older children, and they certainly don't tie them up to a pole in the street. What exactly is ABC trying to prove? That if you create some sort of outrageous spectacle people are more likely to react?

My brother and I were EXTREMELY hyper growing up and never sat still when we were out with our parents at the mall etc. We had wrist 'leashes' when we were about 3-4, until we were able to calm down a bit and behave haha. But my mom never told us to heel or tie us up to poles lmao. That's another type of insanity.

I would not say anything if I saw kids on leash because I would think the kids were probably running off and getting into things. However if I see kids tied to pole I would call the cops. Kids sometimes need to be on harnesses in order to keep them from running off and getting taken.

I spent a couple years "on the leash"...actually my parents preferred to call it a "harness". Apparently I had this problem where when I would get in any Mall, I would run and hide in the clothes dept lol. Anyways, i wasnt traumatized by being on a leash and it likely saved my life a time or two. Who knows?...but if they tied me to a pole, thats where id start to have a serious issue!

Sad but I had to endure something like this but worse. Long story short I drove past and they had him with a collar around his neck and the leash was tied to the porch. Not only that but it was cold outside and he had no coat or jacket on. I took pictures sent them to a friend of mines who works for child services and gave them the rant of their lives they don't even fucking look at me now. I agree with AddictedxToxLIFE. Leashes are not a display of bad parenting. If you're dragging your child along the ground, YES it's abuse. If you're tying your child to a pole, YES it's neglect. But like Addicted said, some kids do have ADHD, down syndrome and other things that may cause them to run off. What are you going to do, shun them from society?
