@Guitarpat100 Yes, it can be used with other software as long as the software supports the Mackie Control protocol for control surfaces. Unfortunately, Pro Tools doesn't support that protocol so it won't work with Pro Tools. Not sure about the others. I talk more about it in my free ebook... you can find more info at garrigus dot com?VStudio700
o ok thanks for the info. Will this system work with the new x1 from sonar.i've been using sonar since after high school class of 1991.It suites my needs.been wanting a controller tho.
@gadisrael Yep, the system also works with X1. Some of the features need to be updated, but Cakewalk is currently working on the update, which should be out in March.
Hello I have a question I have a G-Track USB Mic I was wondering Can you run this Console V Studio 700 and use the G-Track at the same time please let me know Thank You
@megaman1221 I don't see why not, but I don't know for sure. You would definitely be better off buying a better mic with an XLR connection so you can connect it directly to the V-Studio 700.
@ScottGarrigus Thank you for the reply I also asked a guy who is selling the V Studio 700 and he told me the samething you did that he said you can use the G-Track and the Vstudio 700 at the same time but before I had asked him and had ask you I called Sonar and the Tech guy told me no that I cannot use the V Studio and the G-Track at the same time yea I know what yor saying about the Buying another Mic but I mean I have 2 G-Track Mics so I figured if I can use the V Studio 700 with the G-TracK
@ScottGarrigus PT2 Then I will be better off and won't have to buy anymore Mics I mean I just want the console not the I/O Box I would love to get this console because everything is at your fingertips and it makes things even easier but thats why I was wondering if it will work with the G-Track by the way I purchased your Book Sonar 7 Power! Excellent book Thank You again for the Reply.
@megaman1221 Oh, okay. If you're just getting the console, then they should work together. Although, USB mics are known for causing trouble when used with other USB devices. The problem is that there's only so much data bandwidth provided by USB. I think the only way to know for sure will be to try it, unfortunately. You could also try talking to Cakewalk, but I don't know if they'll know for sure either. Thanks for reading my book! I appreciate it.
@ScottGarrigus Yea I just wanted the console I had already contacted Cakewalk and the Tech guy told me I cannot used them at the sametime but I don't see why not I believe it should work but I don't know because I don't have the console I just don't want to keep buying more mics which is kind of senseless I figured the console would work the tech guy at cakewalk told me that it will work but I have to keep switching from the console to the mic and only 1 can be selected good book your welcome
@ScottGarrigus PT2 since you already have the console does the console come with it's drivers? if it does then that's what makes me think it should work I don't see why not but oh well Thank You so much again for replying.
Correct me if I am wrong, but TRS is balanced, It has 3 elements. The same type of plug can be used for an unbalanced cable, but TRS can indeed be balanced.
TRS is usually balanced/unbalanced, supporting both types in modern devices.
@eschelar Yes, that's true. I made a mistake while filming, but I added a correction that shows up on the screen as text during that part of the video. You must have missed it. :)
@dali1088 Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed it. Just in case anyone else reading this wants to grab a free copy, the eBook can be found in the ProAudioTutor section of my Garrigus website.
hi scott. it certainly looks good and very tempting. i'm using sonar8 producer and was using the alesis mastercontrol (which didn't work out for me). i'll be interested in seeing how you get on with the controller in your sessions.
@curszondax Thanks! Yeah, it's a great system. I'll have some more videos on the DigiFreq site soon. In the meantime, check out my free eBook... Cakewalk V-Studio 700: A Closer Look. You can download for free in the ProAudioTutor section of my Garrigus website.
@lucamorris0 Thanks! Yeah, it's a great piece of equipment. I've written an eBook about the V-Studio 700 and you can download it for free at my website.
Not yet. Been busy with projects. There some other vids over in the Videos section of DigiFreq though. Do a web search for DigiFreq to find the site and then click on the Videos link.
Thanks very much! Glad you liked it. Yeah, I'm very happy with it so far. Still learning, but the integration with SONAR is excellent. Solid build quality. No complaints yet.
Does this only work with cakewalk, or can it be used for other software like Pro tools, Logic, Cubase etc. =P

why would they make the interface usb instead of firewire?
gadisrael 1 year ago
@gadisrael As far as I know, FireWire is on its way out. USB3 will probably become the new standard.
