Oddly enough, the radio edit of this song is superior to this album version. The 2nd verse and 3rd chorus were deleted, the 3rd verse was moved in front the 2nd chorus, and the fade out was altered slightly. The impact of that version is direct and resonant while in this longer cut Billy sounds like he is stretching and laboring to make the song more profound but he ultimately ends up lessening its impact. In this case, less was more.

This should have been one of Billy's biggest hits. The lyrics of this song really pack a punch and speak to all of us. When you listen to the witty, intelligent lyrics this guy wrote in almost all of his songs, you realize nobody on the charts today has this kind of talent.

She's really nice. She gave me an autograph and we talked about which different songs get us through the day. Kings of Leon was cited as one of both of our favorites and of course her father. So sad for her that she attempted suicide shortly thereafter over an asshole boyfriend who left her, definitely not worth it. But I'm glad she's doing so much better and going back out there entertaining crowds in small venues, it's cooler. She's been through a lot, she could write songs about it all.

I had the wonderful opportunity of meeting his daughter Alexa Ray, for which he wrote 2 songs (The Downeaster Alexa and Lullabye, both also underrated), and she has just as much talent as he does when it comes to singing and playing the keys. Saw her at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood FL last winter.
