I wonder what is so beautiful about this style of gameplay. I could sleep in between the passes and wake up only when barca starts to create chances. @JimmyGuitarist not exactly defensive or attacking style. tiki-taka is the expression that is used to describe the pinball passing style. total posession all the time. that way you can control the game however you want. you can increase the pace or slow it right down like barca are doing here in this vid. but the thing is, it can be implemented in defense and attack. it is done to play the game at your own pace, so that you can apply your attacking/defensive tactics at any moment.

@ReiTirona Yeah, well I was more aiming my comment at the people who were saying it's "boring". Tiki-taka/total-football is just total control of the game, I know. Lots don't understand it, especially in the land of kick&rush; England. In this specific clip though, they're passing it around the back because there opponents wern't pressing them at all and they didn't need to take any risks, considering they were 4-1 up already.

@JimmyGuitarist dont even get me started on the land of kick and rush.... where strong physical players are almost always prefered over technically skilled players. no wonder their youth system is shit, and theyre not winning anything. wasted around 10 years playing football here, and unless you know someone then theres no chance in hell you will get spotted. if i was in another country, good chance i would be playing at a much higher level. the sadest thing is wasted talent.... :(

If you have the best squad in the world and such world class players - sensational I would say, you have to be show your brilliance in big games, Barcelona disappointed very badly against Real with their negative tactics. Playing defensive isn't wrong for me, ofcourse it's not what you want to see as a fan, but depends on you, but Barca had some very negative tactics coming into the game of the 1st leg were just utter shit. Ive started hating them since.

rofl, 28 of those passes were between defenders, then Xavi hits a long ball for iniesta who hits a perfect pass to henry, although he's lucky the defender was horribly bad. if barcelona had upped the tempo of their passing, they could've done the same thing with 5-6 passes, it'd be much prettier to watch, be much faster and it'd be better and more entertaining football

I wonder what is so beautiful about this style of gameplay. I could sleep in between the passes and wake up only when barca starts to create chances. Seriously, anyo t football team can do this 80% backpasses to their own half and go forward to get the goal in the remaining 20% passes. But they don't becoz this is lame and boring footbal. I prefer watching a team that lose but play at great pace and varies style of football, unlike barca who just know how to pass like in the training.

It's what barca does.... why give away a ball with a 50 yard pass attempt when you have a wide open teammate a mere 10 yards from you. And if you play enough attention to it.... the player receiving the pass is usually always wide open (a good 90% of the time)

I don't thinks this is a good example of great passin, I mean... Zaragoza had clearly accepted defeat, and never put any pressure at Barcelona's defence. And Barcelona passed the ball behing the middle line for almost the entire video, they were clearly 'cooking' the game without any objective. Nevertheless, at the final surge do they come up with something really great.

@187izm The game was 4-1 and he wanted to make his goal, he was good enough in this season that was 2007-08, and in 2008-09 he was even better, but he became bad at last season, thats why he left. But in the first 2 seasons he was great, but not at his best, cause his best was in Arsenal when he became a Legend!

Netherlands played FAR better than Spain and they implemented the old tactic in the final. Spain on the other hand played the classic Spanish overload tactic where upon they pressure the opponent countless times until the ball is given away. Simple as that.

they use "tiki taka" which was employed by Johan Cruijff, one of the creators alongside Rinus Michels of total football, very much the same except they dont interchange positions as often, so yes its very much the closest thing to total football as it is attacking and fluid.
