  • When I render a video as .avi or .wmv it makes it a sound file (even though the file type is .avi). It's that or the project isn't showing.

    Any help? :D

  • @FootSplit Are you say that when you render, you get only audio, no video? If that is the case, it is possible you are using a video source file that is either compressed with divx or xvid, or the source is unsupported mp4.

  • ola meu amigo eu não intendi nenhuma palavra que voçê disse é que eu sou portugues

  • Thanks very much, very helpful!

  • THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • thank you men!

  • THANK YOOUU!

  • 0:48 the Clip have a limit to drag how can i put that limit away?

  • @RaaayD After you reach the limit, render the video, then import the rendered part back into the project, and speed up again.

  • @guerillabill Is there an other way?

  • @RaaayD You can use Virtual Dub. I have a video on my site showing how to do it. Article title is 'Speed up video - compress 90 minutes or even 24 hours of video into 90 seconds of video using free software'

  • OMG so helpful! THank you!

  • Thanks google brought me to this vid

  • you know how fast you were going now im going to have to give you a ticket :P

  • Whatim woundering is how to put like fast motion in like a middle of a video or just the first part then its normal...

  • Does it work on version 7?

  • @Greenjamgamer Yes, this works on Movie Studio 7, as well as Vegas Pro 7.

You'll get better results with Movie Studio Platinum 10, which is currently available at Amazon for under $40.

  • Thank you unknown random skilled guy! :3

  • haven't thought of that. thanks!

  • awesome. none of these videos mention how to speed up EVEN MORE if i wanted. the top play rate seems to be x4, but what if i want x32?

  • @xilentpwn Speed it up to the maximum, then render the sped up section, then import that back into the project, and speed it up again.

  • this couldve been said in like 10 seconds flat but thanks!

  • thanks! ;D

  • thank you sir!

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!

  • THANK YOU!

  • What's the difference between sony vegas and movie studio?

  • @ElQueso57 Sony Vegas Pro looks and works exactly like Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum, except Vegas Pro has a few additional features including masking. Vegas Pro costs over $500, Vegas Movie Studio Platinum costs under $60. Move Studio Platinum has 95% of the features of Vegas Pro, including chromakey, pan and zoom, video effects, transitions, titling, and DVD authoring.

  • What if you want to have a slowed down clip, but you don't want it to be THAT long lol? Like have just a segment slowed down?

  • @EpicGirlxD See my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill thanks! :)

  • @guerillabill Will do! Thank you! :)

  • awesome thanks alot! =D

  • Thanks for the great video...couldn't figure out how to do this until I watched this.

  • Thanks a lot, this will help in my videos!!

  • I want to speed up only a part of the video, how do I do that?

  • @draculu See my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • thank you so much Bill Myers answered everything i needed to know instant like and favorite

  • is there any way to speed up past the limited space?

  • @PrioFreeze You can speed up to maximum, then render the clip, import it back into the project, and speed it up again.

  • Do this causes result to be choppy at playback; not smooth.

  • @mystic7muse The quality of the playback will be mostly dependent on the quality of the original video. If the original video is full frame rate and not compressed, the playback of the speed adjusted video will be smooth.

  • @guerillabill i filmed a camera pan on a sony PD150 at a framerate of 50fps in dvcam mode, yet when i slow it down it is horribly choppy... any ideas?

  • @squiddey4 Set the project properties to match the properties and frame rate of the video clip. Then apply the slow motion.

  • @guerillabill Hi, I'm going to post a video response of my problem and I would really appreciate some help with it. I slow down my clip using the velocity feature and the output is really choppy. Do you have any idea how to fix it without an extra plugin?

  • @Yunghunt187 The quality of the playback will be mostly dependent on the quality of the original video. If the original video is full frame rate and not compressed, the playback of the speed adjusted video will be smooth.

However, the playback in the preview window will not be nearly as good as the final rendered video. Try rendering to see if the video looks better. Also divx xvid videos are not suitable for speedup or slow mo

  • how i make this be normal speed,,,

  • @RareguyXwalkeR Right click on the clip in the timeline, choose 'properties', change the playback rate to 1.0, and the undersample rate to 1.0

  • @guerillabill ...just split the track into sections....speeed one up...slow one down...badda bing...

  • Is there a way to make it that the video slowly speeds up and not at once? So like frame 2 is there a little bit longer ´than frame 1, frame 3 is there a little bit longer than frame 2 and so on?

  • @guthixXXL I use Sony Vegas Movie Studios 9 by the way.

  • @guthixXXL That called ramping speed, and you can't do it in Movie Studio, but can do it in Vegas Pro using a Velocity Envelope.

  • at the beginning, i expected you to say "hi, billy mays here!".

  • thanks!

  • It doesn't work with the CTRL key... help :( I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11.0

  • @TheeEveFan Hold down the CTRL key while resizing the clip on the timeline. Works in all versions of Sony Movie Studio and Vegas Pro.

  • @guerillabill Like I said, it doesn't work... but thank you anyway... I found another way. I had to use an on-screen keyboard xD

  • I have a question: if I have more than just one video on a track and I want to slow it down one in the middle what should I do so that won't collapse on the next one??? I don't want to just remove all the videos after the selected one because I saw somewhere that there is a button or smth that if its pressed than the videos after the dragged one just rearrange themselves automatically but I don't know which one...

  • @zolti22 Turn on the auto-ripple button to automatically adjust clips when you change the size of other clips on the timeline. See my YouTUbe video about auto ripple in Sony Vegas

  • @guerillabill OMG! OMG! OMG! That video was what I saw long time ago but I forgot to bookmark it!!! Thank you very much for the help, I'm very happy now that I found it again!!! :D Thx again!

  • Thanks for the tutorial. I did a 1minute clip of clouds (time lapse). But I ran into a problem. I cut my clip 3 times (using the "S" button) to speed it up and slow it down. Now the problem; I rendered the clip and in those 3 spots where I cut it, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds. Everything else looks great except those 3 spots on the video. Do you know how to fix it? Thanks. Matt

  • @MrMacdurbin If the screen goes black, it means there is no video to display. Go back to the timeline and adjust the clips so they touch or overlap. This eliminates the missing frames between the clips.

  • @guerillabill That's exactly the problem on my timeline, gaps between clips, Thank You and Thank You for for your prompt response.

  • dr phil?

  • thanks for the tips.Me who doesn't know how to either speed up or to slow down my videos, now I know, all thanks to you and also for your other tips.

  • Thanks. Helped alot!

  • hey i already know that but can you tell me plz how to just speed apart from the video (not all the video)

    please help

  • @CFGAM3R See my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • Thanks very much !

  • Very useful!Thanks!

  • This is still useful with even the latest sony vegas! Thanks!!

  • i get the part about holding down the CTRL key and making it faster. when i speed it up and render it as a mp4 it's fine but when i open a new document, import that mp4, speed it up again, and render it as a new mp4 the playback is just a black screen... i have to speed it up twice because i need to make it really short... how can i fix this?

  • @tmacdaking96 When you use and render as mp4, you are creating compressed video files that often don't have enough video information to apply additional effects to.

Try to use uncompressed video formats like avi. Or even wmv.

Mov & Mp4 just don't to produce good results in Sony Vegas

  • @guerillabill i just tried it again...i rendered it as an .avi, imported it,added some music and some other video files, then i tried to render it as an avi again but it just came out as a black screen...can you make a tutorial of how to speed up videos x2, cuz when i try and speed up videos it can only speed up to a certain point... so i have to make a new document and import the video file that i was working on to speed it up again.

  • @tmacdaking96 If you start with highly compressed video (ie mp4), you are limited to how much and what kind of effects you can apply. For better results, start with higher quality (no compression) video.

  • thanks!

  • OMG no offence but you sound like Mr Mackey from south park.

  • @DontBeAFreakLikeMe EM Kay .. HAHAHAHA !!

  • How can I speed up video, just on some parts, not whole video?

  • @metK1337 See my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @guerillabill Thanks!

  • Thanks youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • Thank you thank you thank you Very much!!!

  • Thanks very much the best video i have seen to do slow motion so far on youtube !

  • thank you

  • i have a problem:

when i speed up a clip and render it, the program overlaps some pictures.

(i think thats because my original video has 2 fps and the faster one hast 30 fps..)

now the program tries to put all of the 30 frames in a 25 frames video

    -->so some picture get overlaped.

how can i change that??? i want some pictures deleted, not overlaped !!

    thank :)

  • Thank you :) :) !!

  • *Gasp* you are over speed limit! *Gives ticket* J/k :3

  • thanks a mill, that helped

  • Thank you my friend you have been a great help

  • Thanks man. This helped me a lot.

  • BLOODY HELL YOU DRIVE FAST!

  • THANK YOU!!

  • This is amazing program

  • My video doesnt speed up. It just deletes the video that I took out

  • @SchmitzerSnow16 Hold down the CTRL key while resizing the video on the timeline to change the playback speed.

  • rally racin' :P

  • Thank you alot :D

    Nice and easy!

  • how do i fast motion with audio?

  • @SaintofFPS Right click on the audio track, choose 'properties', on the pitch change option choose 'lock to stretch', and then choose one of the 'stretch attributes' presets that best matches the audio.

  • @guerillabill Thanks ;) its awesome that you still respond to questions even after 3 (almost 4 years) after making these videos

  • @guerillabill didn't even watch the video thanks man

  • this helped loads thanks :)

  • this helped alot thanks man.

  • Thanks

  • If I had a timestamp thingy on my video, how to make it adjust with the speed of the video?

  • how do i slow down transitions? or how do i edit them at all?

  • @moondragon05 You can slow most transitions simply by extending the length of the transition on the timeline. You can control the transistion effect in many transitions using the transition control window for the transition. Some transitions have controls, some don't.

  • @guerillabill alright, i think i got it now, thx a lot ;)

  • hello Bill Myers

  • hello Bill Myres

  • How do you do small parts of a video clip, i.e 10seconds fast then the next 30 slow for instance?

  • @SierraFiveZero See my YouTube video 'Speed up Slow down portions of video in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'

  • @SierraFiveZero or you could split the clip...and slow down/ speed up the parts you want...then put them together

  • how do i stop the audio distorting??

  • @Wizqid Right click on the audio track, choose 'properties', on the pitch change option choose 'lock to stretch', and then choose one of the 'stretch attributes' presets that best matches the audio.

  • Easiest and Best tutorial tutorial..EVER!

  • that's tight.

  • MMMMMMKAAAAAAYYYYYYY>

    hahah

  • all i needed to know was to hold cntl when resizing THANK YOU X99999+INFINITY

  • Is it normal when you slow motion, stabilize or close up a video for the quality to get a little bad or not as clean? Thanks.

  • @jloza98 In slow motion, quality can suffer, especially if your source video is not high quality. This is true with divx, xvid video, ,p4, mov and video from games or analog captured video.

  • Thank you. Warm greetings from İstanbul.

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you so much!

  • Thanks for that I have been wondering how thats done.

  • please somebody help,

whenever use slow motion or speed motion hold ctrl while resizing video (move to left or ove to right), after finieshed the resize, when i want to see the video, it"s showing like pause ,frezzing ,something like that, how can i fix it?

i realy apprectied for any response

  • @sharagim1 It could be your computer lacks the power to show slo/fast motion effect in real time. Or you might be working with mp4/mov files which use a lot of CPU and RAM to preview in real time.

Try rendering the file to see if the problem is just in the preview or in the final render.

  • @guerillabill , thanks for your response, the problem isn"t just for the preview, still there even after render,

do you have any idea for solve this?

    thanks again for your help

  • @sharagim1 Generally problems when video effects are applied are related to the quality of the source video and the codec used.

For example, videos compressed with divx or xvid, or game captures, or downloaded videos, or analog PVR videos are highly compressed and not suitable for applying effects to. Too much information compressed out of the video.

  • @sharagim1 was it only when veiwing the preview? because once you render it it should be fine,

  • @sharagim1 all u gota do is render it

  • @PBJminusPB , i wanted to ask how do i know, 4x or 5x? how can i find out to use this limit of speed?

    thanks for any response.

  • lol thanks :d

  • THANK YOU SO MUCHH !

  • Cheers Mate, i would have been stumped if it hadn't been for you

  • I remember this was the first video I came across two years ago when i wanted to learn the basics of Sony Vegas. Good to be back! Thank you so much! You helped me a lot!

  • Fascinating. O__O I've been wondering how to do this, and I probably wouldn't have thought of that on my own. xD Thank you very much for the tutorial!

  • Im haveing trouble trying to find out how to mach the preview in sony vegas to the event fx editors key frame time line,

When im adding effects with keyframes the video previewer doent folo it so im editing blindly. If anyone can tell me how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it.

  • @llparasitell Left click in the keyframe timeline to have it sync up with the preview window.

  • thanks, this helped

  • @21BlueNeptune totally!

  • @PBJminusPB Or you can slow it down 4x, then render out the slowed segment, and apply the slow down again.

  • Thank you !

  • Thanks very much

  • @bayliep008 Move your mouse pointer to the frame you want to stop motion. Then click 'best & full' on the preview window. Then click the 'snapshot' icon on the preview window.

This creates a still frame image of the frame and saves it in your media pool.

Drag that image onto the timeline, and extend its length to create a stop motion effect.

  • HEY,PLEASE ANSWER,WHAT DOES IT DO WITH THE SOUND WHEN YOU DO THE SLOW MO,OR THE FAST,DOES IT COMPRESS IT?HOWS THAT WORK?SAY I PLAYED MUSIC DOES IT "DISTORT"IT?

  • @cstylewit1 The speed of the sound adjusts with the speed of the clip. You can right click on the audio track, select 'media properties' and choose which method you want the sound track to use to adjust for the video speed. This reduces or eliminates most audio distortion in sped up or slowed down clips.

  • @guerillabill K THANK YOU,I APRECIATE IT MAN

  • Nice thanks man!

  • when u slow the vid it looks like your car is out of fuel

  • awsome xD

  • the thing is I don't want my video to be longer and I want to slow it, so what's the solution? :))
