@WackyJackyTracky I got it in a trade so I'm not sure exactly what I payed. Perhaps around $450-500 is what they go for? Or more? The hum is from the SID itself, they are noisy buggers :) I'd need a noise gate to get rid of it.
@7thDanSound Oh is the 8581 just as a noisy bugger like the 8580? I would recommend you an Behringer 2Ch Denoiser, they work much more inaudible with their filter circuits than simple gates, especially on sounds with some decay/release
@WackyJackyTracky Thanks for the recommendation! Yeah I think both chips and all revisions are more or less noisy, I haven't done any comparisons however.
@bentlovemusic Thanks! Sometimes I find the bleed through a bit annoying but most of the time it's hidden in the mix and becomes more charming than anything.
@SH4RCR4SH Here is a video showing them side by side. I find the emulation "good enough" in that it gives you the feel of the original and with quite some of the grit but without the noise of the chips. Not really there for a connoisseur maybe but since the MnM is so much more it's a lot to consider.
Awesome, a Monomachine & SID C64 side by side! I need your help for a comparison. between them, if you don't mind. how does the SID Monomachine stand aside of the original SID C64? Is the emulation really phat/dirty, in other words great compared to the original? What kind of differences did you notice?
What did you pay for it? it sounds a bit hum/noisy though, maybr thru better shielding sound can be improved?

:D from another midibox SID owner I appreciate the slight bleed through the filter/amp I can hear on this video :)
