My wife and I saw John Denver in concert one month before his passing. We sat in the second row at Cape Cod Melody Tent. I will never forgot the kindness he showed to a handicapped women next to us as he passed by, to go on stage. He has been a hero of mine since I was learning guitar in Junior High , back in 1974.
Why can't people be gentle and kind to each other like the messages in John's music? This poor world needs you now more than ever. The angels are with you my brother.
"It is here we must begin to seek the wisdom of the children and the graceful way of flowers in the wind. For the children and the flowers are my sisters and my brothers. Their laughter and their loveliness would clear a cloudy day."
We are one with Nature. Let us love ourselves, each other and the planet.
@charubak1 The key word is pure; his heart was as big as the outdoors he loved so. Never one to "Preach Hatred" only Peace. His music and spirit will be with us forever.
I did not personally meet John Denver but it did seem to kind of person I could get along with, with an old soul understanding & I think he would of been pleased to see Barak as President of your country Ilive in the UK we think both JD &Barak are both cool. I was sadenned by the news of JD's death a few years ago I loved his music it seemed to talk to my soul & nourish it somehow.
whats really weird... the glitch in this video is basically the same glitch on my old cassette, as well as the 8-track... same place... just found it sort of odd that heat and over play would effect the exact same places.
@pattydoe123 .... John was a very gifted singer, speaking and most of all his writing ability and knowledge of music..... I too sit up till the early hours of the morning listening to his music and that of the Judith Durham (Seekers) as all their music has meaning to them......
One of my favorites of John's work. Love the timeless and meaningful lyrics. Thank you for sharing. Yes, I miss John and his ability to connect and to express so beautifully through song. See you later, John :)
John's music brings me back to the 60's& 70's when we didn't have a lot but were happy. Vacation was camping in Vermont every summer where we sat around the campfire at night singing these songs.
has always been my favorite JD song. inspiring and uplifting and great guitar. I love the 12-string finger picking which he always did so well. if you play guitar not an easy task. sure do miss you...
God, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written...he may not of had the best singing voice (not) but the vibrato in his voice makes up for any negatives. He could sing, write, and play guitar...that's a positive for me compared to the crap that is played today!! I miss you John!!!!
@oooooo386 why is it that dislikers are such noobs?.. they first dislike, then leave a blatant response about other dislikers in vein of religion/race comments.

eerie connections to the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. "cities start to crumble, towers fall around us," and "written in the desserts" etc. still one of my favorites, thanks for the post.
I love this song so much that I wrote a flute harmony part to this that is absolutely beautiful. I will be performing it with folk group here in Northern Illinois.

I saw John in Kansas City....must have been very early in the 70's....right after "Rocky Mountain High" & "Thank God I'm A Country Boy" came out......I'm so proud to have seen him when he was so young and new to his fame, it was only himself and his bass player Dick Kniss....my God how he infIuenced my love of the mountains and all of nature and our beautiful planet, whenever I look at my hiking boots of that era, I can't help but think of Aspen, Annie & Sunshine on my Shoulder, RIP John
What a genius and humanitarian. We miss you JD, you brought a ray of sunshine into so many lives and your genius talent will stay with us forever. The songs tell it all. R.I.P
I was lucky enough to see John live in Arizona in 1988 and also at the Albert Hall in London. One of the few artists who could hit the high notes just as well live as on a recording. But I think more than being a very talented singer he had the ability to put across ideas and feelings to his audience and making you believe the world can be a better place. In Arizona in the interval of a 3-hour concert he stayed on stage to talk about the Windstar Foundation while sucking a throat lozenge
my family thinks John could not sing.......well....they sure are wrong. not only did he have the gift of singing, he had the gift of speaking. I have sat here somrtimes ti 2 am just listening to him talk. to bad he did not run for pres. he would of won hands down.......and at least he could of shown a birth cert. to the USA
@pattydoe123 It's not how good his voice was that made him so good, it's what he sang, and how. From the heart and with complete belief... He didn't have the best voice in the world, but it was so clear and pure...My favourite has always been Rocky Mountain High, but if you want to listen to him speak, and it's possibly one of the most poignant things I've ever heard, listen to 'The Box'... can't remember which LP it's off now (either R & R or P,P & P), but it's amazing....
"at least he could of shown a birth cert. to the USA"
Ya mean, just like our President showed the country, time and time again? That kind of birth certificate? One thing I know for sure about JD is, he woulfd NOT have been so disrespectful to President Obama, and he most certainly would have welcomed his leadership of the country. John was like that.
that wasn't a birth certificate in case you didn't know, the original "birth certificate" released by the whitehouse was taken off because people found out it was made on an adobe program
I still miss this genius man ... my savior, By that i mean Johns music of which i swear got me through a very difficult time in my teens, and a few more after that. God bless the memory and spirit of this angle lent to us for a brief time
@snerddarplol I saw him 23 times - you really missed a GREAT musiocian (and not a bad juggler also!!!) Go to Aspen the second week of October - it is John Denver week and there are several that play his music very well at the Wheeler Opra House. They are NOT imitators they are people that really like Denver's music. It is as close as you are going to get!!! Good Luck!!!
hello... im Archt. Marlowe A. Domingo United Architects of the Philippines, from san mariano isabela. im merried, loving and understanding.. this is the rhymes and reason of my life.... thank you john Denver you've given me inspiration...
Every couple has a song, this is ours. The very first time we heard it, shortly after we were married in 1974, it became our song for life. When we die and go to heaven, we're going to find John and ask him to sing it for us.
@262990592k That is a beautiful comment. I saw John when I was ten years old, twenty years ago this autumn...the night I fell in love with live music and knew I'd see the Rockies and Aspen before I was 30! I still come back to his music over and over and still cry cos he is gone.
I know of someone who thinks the same way SShammah does... but I pray it'll never come so early, though an eagerly encounter... John Denver will never cease to be...
When I see him singing here I feel he is still with us. I suppose he always will be with his song and his humor, but most especially with his love. RIP, John.
I remember back at the age of 16 playing John's songs on a friends porch, when we played this song, it was very hard to keep a dry eye amongst all who were there. Now at 52 I still have that same feeling. We miss you John, thanks for the music, we really need it now as well as then. Blessings all...
As I sit here and listen to John ...... I just realized my 2 favorite singers have the same initials J D John Denver and Judith Durham ... I just can not believe how these 2 singers have touched my life ... and John I have followed since 1970 and he is greatly missed .... yes greatly missed ... you were a wonderful singer with songs that have a lot of meaning... God Bless You ....
He was truth, he was goodness, he was purity. He is part of my utopian chlldhood and he will always be with me. Thank you for sharing yourself with the world, John. RIP. With love....
John Denver is one of the great singer / songwriter in the world. So sad that his life is so short. I love him....I love all his songs, it's my life all these years. Thanks for sharing this video, please upload more.
Can anyone tell me the 12 string guitar he preferred?
I am always moved by his songs. The only other song to compare would be Noel Paul Stookly from Peter, Paul, and Mary fame, "The Wedding Song" or sometimes referred to as "Where there is Love". Check it out also! Sounds similar.
@gliderrider His older guitars (like the one you see here), were Guilds. Later, he played Taylors. Notice his old Yamaha in the background - that's the guitar you see on the Muppett's Xmas LP.
He was dropped by Guild in the 80's- when he was also dropped by RCA. All around the same time- BUT JD probably did chuckle a little when Guild ended up going bankrupt. THINK maybe they got just a tad of good advertising by JD playing their guitars- hum?? Just guessing but yea probably so!!!!
Illuminati=ET kin aka gods, Ea, Enlil, dragons, angels/demons, Satan, Pepsi, naga, vampires, bluebloods, Al Gore, Windsors, Rothschilds, Rockefellars etc who rule cults like Freemasonry. Their agenda: cull/victimize people via vaccines/other poisons, carbon taxes/cap & trade, Codex Alimentarius, internet 2, WW3 then stage an alien invasion to get a fascist world government/religion with us chipped. Support Dr Deagle, Stewart Swerdlow, Oracle Broadcasting, gardeners and free-energy technology!
@gliderrider The Guild he's playing on this vid is the one JD bought back in the 60s, a near-twin to my guitar bud's. Later on, it was largely replaced for his stage shows bya custom Yamaha.
But i am very happy, that John Adams the music of John Denver will sing with his heart , soul, guitar and with his beautiful voice. So on this way,the music of John Denver will keep alive.........
My dad loved John Denver & I grew up on his lovely music. My younger brother(aged 7 in 1975) used to sing out to his songs & his voice would resonate around Liverpool......happy memories indeed! cheers John.
Yes, I too am a Colorado guy (Estes Park) and was fortunate to see JD perform twice. The best part was always when the band went off stage and it was just him and the guitar. This is where he could really shine through. He was not only an excellent composer/singer, but a great guitarist (seldom mentioned!). I'm fond of saying that his songs provided the soundtrack for our growing up in and around Rocky Mountain National Park. Each summer my brother, Brad Fitch, does several JD tribute concerts.
So well put, yes he continues to bless us through his music. So talented in writing, his trained voice, and his wonderful guitar melodies. I have seen John on stage four times, and each time was different. I loved the way he talked to his audience as if each member were a good friend. What a gift to this world, John Denver.
I meant to give this a BIG Thumbs UP, Jardinami, but somehow accidentally hit the thumbs down. I could not agree more with your comments. JD's music/life has certainly made mine much better.
Johns guitar playing has always held me mesmorised. Watching him play his 12 string so masterfully was for me as wonderful as hearing his beautiful voice ... It kind of seduces you, if that makes sense

I always listen to John Denver when masturbating and imagine that his ghost is watching and touching me. Maybe thats a bit weird, but I keep thinking he would appreciate knowing he can still get a girls juices to flow! Anyway, when John sings and his voice vibrates, its mere moments to my Rocky Mountain high. (It also helps that I have a BFF named Turbo Speed Maximum Ultra Deluxe Vibrator 3000 with 25 speed settings.) Damn, I love you John Denver!
My tramp wife was getting hammered and flirting with the nigger ski instructer while on our vacation years ago at a ski chalet in Colorado.I got payback by hitting on this cross eyed blondie who I learned was Johns sister.I made her panties wet before pounding her turd tunnel with little mercy. Her meat curtains were flapping like Dumbo the elephants ears!I felt a poking at my shit canal,it was John!He wanted my ass cherry so I got up swinging! No sicko denver sandwich here I yelled!
He wrote this in the shower? That couldn't have been very good for the guitar. I was born in Colorado and my mom was a big John Denver fan. His music will always remind me of my innocent early chhildhood in Boulder.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I write songs in the shower, too. The songs are usually about my wet, soapy flesh puppet. I wrote a speed metal song about shitting in the shower that I tried to sell to Metallica. I also wrote a children's lulluby called, "Bathtub Baby Batter".
John would have loved my songs if he were alive. It's his own fault for masturbating while piloting. Now he's singing "Annie's Song" in hell's shower of fire and brimstone.
Before he became a pilot, John wanted to try his hand at sailing. The thought of seamen on his poopdeck was quite appealing to him. Unfortunately, the repeated cock-jabbings to the back of his vocal chords from horny sailors affected his singing voice. "Without singing, I can't make any money to support my underage Asian boy prostitues", he said in,"The Gay Men's Journal". John was killed in a plane accident, resulting in restrictions to getting butt-raped while operating any aviation vessels.
I got to see John LIVE three times and this video is from one of the tours that I saw. It was magnificent. Notice how just John's voice and the 12-string guitar FILL UP the arena with a wall of sound. Amazing sound form 1 voice and 1 guitar.
When John died we all got together at the park and sang his songs;his second grade teacher from ft.Worth was even there; they will be singing his songs forever now...
Mr Denver has always inspired my love for the Mountains and nature. His music rings out in the winds of time. He died foolishly But lived greatly. I too like the rest of you miss him and his life.
what a Voice, "one of a kind"... your music has always "affected" me Greatly, STILL does... makes me "go back" to the 70's when I was a kid growing up and you were one of my greatest musical influences... your music makes me feel good, brings back many good memories... TRULY Beautiful... I miss you John...
His poetry is beyond compare and when you add the music...you see heaven. One of my favorite lines from song was not written by John Denver but his songs and poetry are the total essence of this line..................To love another person is to see the face of God.............

I have sat here somrtimes ti 2 am just listening to him talk. to bad he did not run for pres. he would of won hands down.......and at least he could of shown a birth cert. to the USA
pattydoe123 1 year ago 17
@pattydoe123 The comment about the birth cert. surely isn't needed, and is irrlevant to JD's message, don't you think?
Kburgboy 1 year ago
@pattydoe123 It's not how good his voice was that made him so good, it's what he sang, and how. From the heart and with complete belief... He didn't have the best voice in the world, but it was so clear and pure...My favourite has always been Rocky Mountain High, but if you want to listen to him speak, and it's possibly one of the most poignant things I've ever heard, listen to 'The Box'... can't remember which LP it's off now (either R & R or P,P & P), but it's amazing....
wolfman7421 7 months ago
@wolfman7421 i agree the box was nothing short of amazing..... ive heard the recording so many times i can hear it w/o the album..... it was on PP&P

Ya mean, just like our President showed the country, time and time again? That kind of birth certificate? One thing I know for sure about JD is, he woulfd NOT have been so disrespectful to President Obama, and he most certainly would have welcomed his leadership of the country. John was like that.
Kburgboy 5 months ago
@Kburgboy fuck you cock goblin
that wasn't a birth certificate in case you didn't know, the original "birth certificate" released by the whitehouse was taken off because people found out it was made on an adobe program

Sounds similar.
gliderrider 2 years ago
@gliderrider His older guitars (like the one you see here), were Guilds. Later, he played Taylors. Notice his old Yamaha in the background - that's the guitar you see on the Muppett's Xmas LP.
RantzBizGroup 2 years ago
He was dropped by Guild in the 80's- when he was also dropped by RCA. All around the same time- BUT JD probably did chuckle a little when Guild ended up going bankrupt. THINK maybe they got just a tad of good advertising by JD playing their guitars- hum?? Just guessing but yea probably so!!!!
