it was in spa due to coulthard that schumacher lost the 10 points he needed to win the 98 championship. and in 1999 schumacher was doing great but broke his leg in silverstone and had to sit out 8 races or so, but when he returned in suzuka for the last 2 races he was uber dominant. he should have taken both championships but had bad luck, same as 2006 when his engine blew and cost him the title..that sucked.
@piro4351 yes you're maybe right. But things can happen in formula one. Also Kimi was unlucky in 2005, he had the speed and the car to be champion, but he also had so much technical probs. Also in 2007, Hamilton (China GP and Brazil GP) and Alonso (Japanese GP) were unfortune. Things can happen. That doesn't change that Mika is two-times world champion and one of the greatest driver to me.

Yeah, i was mad that Villeneuve could carry on. I was six at the time + a Schumi-fan. Plus, fair racing doesn't win you championships. Willing to go to limits and beyond to win does. Schumacher knew that, Senna knew that as well.
There's no place for goody two shoes in competition.
Fair racing does win championships, willing to go on, and over the limits makes you win more. Trying to take others out just to win, is NOT the way to win. Then you are not a worthy champion, a champion is the fastest, and the best driver, not the one who take other drivers out at the right time.
In 1997, the champion was a guy who was lucky that he had the fastest car. Schumacher was the fastest and the best driver that season, but lost out in the end to a guy who isn't half as good as him, but who has a car that is much better than his Ferrari.
In sports, only one thing counts, either you win or you don't. How you win, is irrelevant, until you get caught. Senna did it before, Schumacher twice. It worked once, it failed once. That's having a intense passion to win.

But I have to disagree with you, that is like saying Schumachers titles in 02 and 04 was not deserved, because Ferrari was clearly the fastest car what so ever. But still, I like fair racing, not crashing. :)

Biggest incident was with Coultard (mikas teamm8) where he should have won. That kind of shit happens all the time but not every one of them got so many titles therefore they arent in spotlight.
Or just take a look at Singapore race when Schumacher was retired with Piquet crashing on purpose so Alonso can win. That shit is 100 times worse then any shit Michael did.

Yeah, i was mad that Villeneuve could carry on. I was six at the time + a Schumi-fan. Plus, fair racing doesn't win you championships. Willing to go to limits and beyond to win does. Schumacher knew that, Senna knew that as well.

In 1997, the champion was a guy who was lucky that he had the fastest car. Schumacher was the fastest and the best driver that season, but lost out in the end to a guy who isn't half as good as him, but who has a car that is much better than his Ferrari.
In sports, only one thing counts, either you win or you don't. How you win, is irrelevant, until you get caught. Senna did it before, Schumacher twice. It worked once, it failed once. That's having a intense passion to win.

But I have to disagree with you, that is like saying Schumachers titles in 02 and 04 was not deserved, because Ferrari was clearly the fastest car what so ever. I agree that Schumacher is a better driver than Villeneuve (even though, I am a Villeneuve-fan) but no championships are undeserved, Schumacher is the best in F1 in modern times. But still, I like fair racing, not crashing. :)

Well, i'm more of a "whatever it takes to win"-kind of guy, so we kind of differ in that perspective.
Especially when i'm rooting for Schumacher, i'm a huge fan of him and he could probably get away with murder and i would still defend the guy.
I guess you do have a good point, Villeneuve wasn't undeserving of becoming a champion, he had good races that year, but imo his car helped him a lot. But then again, you need a good car to perform well, ask Jenson Button.

Schumacher doesnt even stand in the shadow of Fangio or Senna for that matter. Its all character based, and since he has a fucked up attitude (must be some nazi leftovers) that does make him NOT the best driver in the world, dispite his 7 WT. In the glory days of ferrari you could put anyone in that car and he would have won, same goes for Williams in their days. I think u misinterpreted what really happened there intredidvs.
Schummy tried to take him out but ultimately FAILED. So not only did he lose the championship, he showed how much of a dickhead SORE LOSER he really is in that 1) he can't even take a car out on a slow turn, and 2) he cant beat a young french canadian in a Renault even with a top of the line Ferrari. It was truly an EPIC FAIL.
