  • I don't know why they don't let the Speed Twelve out of its cage or at least an exact replica. No turbos, no compromise, 100% car, 0% safe. You gotta love TVR, the last remaining company to not be diluted by safety features and doesn't triple the price just because of the nameplate like Ferrari or Lambo. Awesome part about a TVR is it's almost impossible to jack one, to an unknowing carjacker it takes forever to find the door buttons to get in and out let alone start it/keep it on the road

  • @humpaoranos I agree. And if the Tuscan's a threat, stick the 550 in a drag race with a Sagaris and it would be annihilated

  • The 550 has the world speed record for sustained high speed driving by a production car: One hour at 185mph average (one fuel stop, driver rotation)

They were using the Ford T5 transmission a few years ago--great transmission as I had one in an old Mustang GT--I used to beat the car up so bad, and the transmission never, ever, gave me problems; just had to change the clutch once in 150,000 miles.

    Just the standard tranmission, T5 gearbox. No need for anything else to be honest.

  • Good start from the Tuscan but 350 ish bhp is not enough for massive sustained acceleration over 100 mph...

    TVR's are cheaper, faster and more purist than any modern Ferrari.

    They break, but so what, it'll only cost as much to run year on year as a Ferrari, and who'd want an Italian footballers posing pouch when you could have 100% British beef?

    People with Ferraris are mainly cocks (not all) where as TVR owners are enthusiasts.

    Give me a Cerbera 4.5 anyday, I'll show you how slow your Ferrari is...plus most other things : Þ

  • You can buy a 550 for £37k now so your Tuscan is not the bargain you think it is. And I don't trust you - when you've owned one you can talk: my 550 has had 30,000 carefree miles unlike my TVR. But you just want to believe your own BS - that's fine. Many happy miles to you!

  • Why not use a 599 FXX? Duh! Tuscan vs 550 = 1998 vs 1996, a fair comparison. I love my 1996 5.3L Griffith which is faster than my 550 to 120mph but it cannot hold a candle to my 550, and neither can the Tuscan. Have you ever driven a 550 at 180mph? I have. It is comfortable and rock solid. Try that in a TVR.

  • i just had a ride in a tuscan today, my cousins friend has one. Funny, after we drove about 4 miles, we stopped briefly and when he tried to get back into the car he couldn't, because the window wouldn't lower (needs to lower so that the door is free to open). But yeah, a very fast car indeed accelerating, lethal in towns. Got my heart pumping a little

  • It looked like the TVR was limited to 155mph or 250kmph. It was pulling the 550 quite nicely then just stopped accelerating.

  • Well the Sagaris was helped with developing by the Russian business man, but nothing has been finalised to build a new car! Apparently there is one coming out maybe end of this year or start of next year though! I am hoping it will have similar styling, similar engine management, similar crayziness... But alot better build quality and maybe some more safety features lol... Maybe one or two airbags would be nice! If they get the guy from Noble on the handling again, it will be fine in that dep.

  • Yeah to a degree. Although this Tuscan would have been from the Peter Wheeler era. At the end of the day though, all the designing and engineering was done by the British, nothing really changed after the Russian takeover apart from where the money went.

    I hope they come back eventually. We used to own a Cerbera 4.2 many years ago and a 390SE before that. I hope to own either a Cerbera, Tuscan S or Sagaris in the near future now I finally can! Was still too young to drive when the Cerbera went

  • Ahhhh man, I am actually jealous! I want a Sagaris, a Cerbera was one of my favourite cars on Gran Turismo 2 lol!!

    If you're going to get one though, please get a Sagaris, record it and upload it on here... I'm going to subscribe now, so I hope to see it in the next 3 months :D

  • Haha don't get your hopes too high, the Sagaris holds its value really well and prices can still be in the £40k region for a good one - although that would be my ideal car. If not this year maybe next anyway!

    And yes, the Cerb tore nearly everything apart on GT2, was a great game.

  • Genuinely excited to see older cars involved. Would still like to see some more everyday sort of cars used, like a new 350z vs and Audi RS4, or a lightly tuned MR2 vs a Porsche Boxster for example.

  • the tvr has 400hp and the ferrari 550(or 575 if it is a 575 maranelo)

  • Sorry you're wrong. The 550 represents a 5.5L engine, the 575 a 5.75L. The 550 had about 485bhp, the 575 around 515bhp.
