I knew the little beggar woman was going to be important in the movie otherwise they wouldnt have introduced her in the first place. When Sweeny realized who it was at the end, my Dad was like "Oh shit... Oh my god" it made me laugh but also sad when he seemed so crushed.

What a poetic end for Mrs. Lovett, burned in her own cooking fire. Gotta love the crazy stuff writers come up with and all the producers, directors, and hollywood people who make it all come to life. Let's hear it for the madness! XD

@PeanutButterJelly500 i do! i tried finding out what happens to Johanna and Antony by watching the Broadway musical (here on youtube). i think that Johanna told Antony of her encounter of a scary man (Todd) and so they called the police. only for the police to find sweeney todd dead (as well as mrs. lovett) and Toby. Unfortunately, Toby went mad so when the police found him, he was repeating instructions that Mrs. Lovett gave him (you know..."Grind the meat" etc.) in order to make the meat pies.

She had a fixation with Sweeney... an obsession, not love. There's a difference, I would know, as for "did she deserve to die"? I don't think anyone has the right to say someone deserves to die... But she was alone, kinda looney, and she called to toby so Todd could kill him. She didn't care about anyone but herself and Mr Todd. That explains why she didn't panic when she saw Pirelli dead.

She just tried a hard as she could to live out her own fantasies, regardless of what Mr.Todd wanted.

I have to say that this movie is creepy, not just almost. Just think about it as if it happened. A man go to get a shave, "The closest shave you'll ever get." and his throat gets slit open. The next day his wife comes to the meat shop and eats him.

The original man admitted to killing like 40 people by getting them drunk in his shop and when they're drunk they would go to nap in a bed. The bed would, just like sweeney's chair, black backwards into a hole that led into a giant thing of boiling oil.

@adferty Yeah I think Mrs. Lovett is a very tragic figure, too, because she loves Todd and can't say him that his wife still lives. So she's afraid to tell the truth and lives a lie and in the end she pays for it.

@adferty But this whole mess may have been avoided if she had just told him the truth. Look what that lie did, it destroyed him. It turned into a sociopath consumed by hate.
She may have wanted him, but she wanted him even if it made him more miserable then already was. That's not love
If she really cared she would have given him the chance to see his wife again, even in the slightest chance it would help him heal
(Also, lets not forget that she was the one who came up with the pie idea)

@sumanoskae You can't really blame her for what she did, she loved him so much that she was willing to to anything for him. Also, if he had met Lucy I doubt her sanity would have been brought back, she was too far gone. And I think that he would rather think that Lucy was dead instead of turned into a loony! (also, on a side note: she technically didn't lie! Like she said, she said that she (Lucy) took a poison. She never said that she died!) :) Sorry for the confusing..ness of my comment!

@aqualuvor95 Ms.Lovett deserved everything she got. He obviously loved Lucy greatly, probably enough to care for her, despite her condition. Mrs.Lovett is too selfish. Nobody who truly loved a person would make a lie about such a thing, especially if it drove the they cared about to insanity/despair. She just tried a hard as she could to live out her own fantasies, regardless of what Mr.Todd wanted.

Makes sense, mostly. But think. Lucy lost her mind, too. I don't think she would have cared about what Benjamin had become. But of course, I too, would have loved it if he stayed with Lovett. <3 Toddett is just awesome. They're too cute together, even in the actual stage version... Except our Todd and Lovett at school. :/ They're friends, but they really don't give off good chemistry. lol

@adferty I have to say that i agree. except that even if Lucy knew what he had become, she really wouldn't mind too much. after all, she had gone mad from living in the mad house. but, i think that mrs. lovett should have told him that his wife survived, but had gone mad. maybe...just maybe...he wouldn't have blamed her and killed her.
anyways, i love this movie to bits. :-)

I have to say that this movie is creepy, not just almost. Just think about it as if it happened. A man go to get a shave, "The closest shave you'll ever get." and his throat gets slit open. The next day his wife comes to the meat shop and eats him.

The original man admitted to killing like 40 people by getting them drunk in his shop and when they're drunk they would go to nap in a bed. The bed would, just like sweeney's chair, black backwards into a hole that led into a giant thing of boiling oil.
