C'mon, everyone! Were raising huge amounts of money to get Ron Paul a toothbrush and toothpaste. If we get enough donations, we may even give him enough money to get his teeth cleaned. Give till it hurts! Were almost there!
Article VI of the U.S. Constitution says, "...no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States."
It disgusts me to see how Paul himself succumbed to this outrage.
Then again, I understand that quoting this Constitutional passage would serve as political suicide before a group of religious fanatics like these.
But that article is saying that no religious test shall ever be applied BY THE GOVERNMENT, not by the people holding forums like these. If you restricted the latter you'd be violating the First Amendment.
Yes, I agree that it's up to the person, of course. I'm just saying that we should spread the word that such a "litmus" test is wrong precisely because, as you said at the end, someone's religious beliefs and "values" don't generally matter to me unless it's a hypocrite like Larry Craig. Then again, Craig violated no ethics even though he did precisely what he condemned most.
will these people ever learn? They tell you what you want to hear, then they get in office and do what benefits their agenda and the voters say "but you promised US" RON PAUL is not just telling people what they want to hear he is stating FACTS and saying live and let live as long as you don't hurt anyone else.Sounds very good to me! BTW why do some Christians feel the need to FORCE their GOODNESS on everyone? Doesnt seem very Christ like to me.
We'd still have consumer reports and companies like the BBB. Private companies can handle things successfully at what the fed departments are failing at.
Also Ralph Nader got seat belts in cars.... As a consumer advocate and now the car companies are trying to out do each other in safty. (government is only in it now to write tickets) Ralph had the right idea when he was in the PRIVATE SECTOR, he just has it all wrong now thinking that government can do any of those things with out the use of force and limiting individual LIBERTY.
Again, with the idiocy in the comments... "Ron Paul...he wants to let us all eat arsenic..."
What a moron. I swear, some people simply lack the capacity for rational thought. If you want to see what REAL criminals and murderers look like, look no further than the neo-cons in power and the Democrats who falsely purport to oppose them while quietly supporting their activities with inaction.
What Dr. pauls says is based on the constitution and it makes sense. The constitution is the reason we became the most powerful country on the planet and the people who stray from it would move america backward!
Upton Sinclair's The Jungle is a novel. The conditions of the Industrial Revolution, while harsh by today's standards, were an improvement over previous periods, which were marked by famine and disease. Our increasing wealth and technology, products of capitalism, increased our standard of living, not government regulation.
You'd trust the FDA, whose existence is guaranteed by Federal funding, corruption, and payoffs, over private laboratories whose livelihoods depend on their credibility?
The FDA is keeping the possible cure for cancer in Alberta, Canada because it is free to study. Large Pharmacorps don't allow it in because the little guy or other private companies can get ahold if it to take their customers.
Sinclair did right thing to reveal the problems in food production and industrial productions. He was not a government employee however. The best person in the US exposing government and corporate abuse is today is John Stossel. He is a Libertarian he understands that people are unaware and that sometimes the biggest abusers are the people we think are protecting us.
Read Harry Browne's Why Government Does not Work" Libertarians want all the same things you do Tivo, we just know what actualy getts things done and it is not government it is WE THE PEOPLE.

I agree with Ron Paul on a lot of things, disagree on several things, and am undecided about the majority of things.

Technically speaking, I admit you're correct.
But can't it be applied for both?
VoteLiberty 4 years ago
I think that's up to the person. It's an individuals choice of whether to decide someone's religion or religious beliefs or values matter.
To me, they generally do not.

Agreed. I am a Christian and fully understand that Jesus never forced faith,he just presented himself and let the people choose.

Tivo, you've got it all wrong. He wants to get the power back to the people, not the corrupt corporate/goverment fascist state.
