I always listen to musicans like Radiohead, Andrew Bird, ect. who have the quiet patience to feel the music that when it comes out it's just utter inspiration that brings with it it's own aspirations and warmth, it's simply beautiful.
i get really lonely at the end of this video. in those seconds before i hit replay, it's as if every love i've ever had has walked away from me, and hearing this music again is the only way they'll come back.
This man is a visionary. He is genius at creating a simple melody and slowly adding more and more intricate harmonies and counterpoint until it achieves perfection.
How does this song have dislikes? Do people not understand he's played every part of this? and he can whistle like Jesus or an animal from a disney film...
@amrohijjawi dude. I was thinking that same freaking thing when I first saw this lol. The similarites are so funny: the music (a lot) but even Andrew and Thom's facial expressions when they are playing. Lmao and Radiohead played at the Basement too.
Will see Andrew Bird live in 1 week in great venue. Third time. Once saw him solo in a very small venue, but he only played for 35 minutes. He and 2 other musicians/bands were stepping in for a cancelled show. The sad thing was he played for shortest time and was, far far and away, much better than the 2 groups that followed him. He's put on a fantastic live show each time. Love introducing people to his music. Just keep spreading the word.
If you love incredible songwriting like this, then check out this band called Seraplane. I'm trying to help spread the word for these guys, so if you get the chance search them on youtube and give them a listen! They aren't quite as technically gifted as Mr. Bird, but they are young lol
I can't believe this has only 105,313 views..while Beiber's "baby" video has over 600,000,000...its a crime I tell you..people just dont seem to know good music
I'm sorry, I'm trying to record a cover of this song, but the tempo is killing me!... I'm not shure if it's 155 bmp or if it's in 4/4...3/4 or what?. Does anyone know? I would love some help
@cesaROCK07 It's probably a mixed meter of some sort. This will be very hard without an actual driving force to his music besides the violin, plus he's putting a recording over a recording. Just listen to it and you might just have to go for it and hope for the best. Goodluck though! I hope you do an awesome cover!
@cesaROCK07 The way I figured it, it's four measure of 4/4 with the first chord, then it's two more measures with the chord changes, so basically I think there are 6 measures in the loop. Not sure if that helps or not.
So I was flicking through the channels late one night, and accidentally stumbled across this performance. I lay on the couch, under a blanket, and just watched in awe as he picked up that violin and played the most beautiful piece of music ever to come out of my television set. This, my friends, is what it sounds like to put love into your music.
Five people....just didn't like the song. Or maybe the video. I'm not sure why; I thought it was beautiful. But, thankfully, beauty is not universal. Beauty is not by majority rule.
I guess people lost good taste in music a while ago... he's so tlented I love his records if he was more famous i'd might be abble to see him live ugh
I actually find a few of his live performances to be much better than their studio counterparts. This guy is amazing; it's a shame that he's relatively unknown (to the people in my area at least). It sucks that the radio musicians are the ones who experience the most success, while those who are leagues above them musically are left in the dark. I wish people were more open minded about music...
@MusicTheAccount nah, i think its ok bird doesnt sell like gaga...im sure financially he is ok and he is getting to do what he wants...not a victim of his fame and me, the fan, can reveal in not hearing his music 10 times a day on the radio and in every passing car and in stupid commercials for soap or cars ,etc
what i get a kick outta him the most is that he always changes the tempo and the flow of his songs when he does a live performance. it's tough to make a song seem like something totally different, but still make it sound like nothing's changed. well done andrew.
Anybody know how he achieves those really low octave notes? He does it at the begining to get the bass notes and then again when he's bowing, when you can hear both the low octave and the regular octave. Is it a certain pedal he uses?
There's a couple different ways. A boss octave pedal. I use an electroharmonix pog pedal which adds a sub octave and 2 octaves d-tuned higher. Just look around for different pedals. There are many.
i think the same thing all the time. it's not like his music is too far out there to be radio-friendly either. but whatever, if people don't know Andrew Bird, it's their loss, not mine.
@chriszilla123 the musical taste of the world is collapsing. look at the itunes top ten. its dreadful. animal collective, andrew bird, these guys just arent being recognized enough. the music mind of today has become deteriorated and naive. few true musicians are left.
