it takes guts to walk a track like you are in this video its pretty impressive im glad you got the chance to do this caz normally they wont let you do this fearing that you will probably get hurt so your doing what nobody gets to do so im glad you got to experience this
This is unbelievably good. I'm guessing that maybe you didn't get permission to walk through...and I thank you again for your dedication to the greatest dark ride ever created. I can't get over the vintage footage you blended in here...I remember it all.
About Sportland Pier, Gilbert Ramagosa, son of Sebastian Ramagosa sold the pier around 1985, and it's been go-karts since the early 90's, the 2-level Dr. Blood's House of Horror dark ride that was closed since 1983 was razed Jan 2007 and some of the props saved, the monster head and hands from the front is now on the rear of the pier and some of the props from the inside are in the "Randyland" the former Woolworth's on Pacific Av. near the Boyer Museum. Not sure where the ride carts went.
Robert is obsessed beyond obsession. I'm guessing you were there at the send off? Then again maybe not, The Dark in the Park board was very quiet when all this was going on and it remains that way.
Castle Dracula was on Nickels Midway Pier on the land side across from Mariner's Landing, it was built 1977 and burned Jan 16, 2002, the Dungeon boat ride under the castle was built 1919 with the wooden coaster that was torn down fall 1984 for a kiddie ride park that debuted 1985 and closed after 1998 and the new waterpark opened 2000 on the site where Nickels Midway's amusement rides were and the Hell hole was on Sportland Pier, it closed in the mid-1980's.
too bad there is no way to start up an organization that helps to preserve rides using donated funds from like minded individuals and organizations whose focus is of keeping memories alive heck Im sure if you had enough people working together im sure you could find a way to convince whoever runs / owns the pier where this ride is located to delay or even downright cancel the demolition
and on another note does anyone remember Draculas Castle either at Wildwood or Seaside Heights?
Dracula's castle was in Wildwood and burnt to the ground in 1999 or 2002. Was Arson, I believe. As for Seaside The Doorway To Hell was the walkthrough haunted house which was removed after Great Adventure had their fire in 1994. Doorway to hell had 8 trailers side to side, and was about 675 feet long. It took 7 minutes to walk through. I worked there two summers in 1985 and 1986. I was crypt keeper when you first walked in and around the coffin. Used to sit for 4 hours a night
gmsmedia, they wont demolish it,didnt you hear? knobeles are bringing it and putting it in their park! knobeles have great rides that were going to be demolished like the pheniox from texas!
This is incredible footage. Excellent job on the editing too. I was holding out hope for the GN but it is not to be....at least we have our memories of it, along with this documentation. Thanks for all your hard work, it's much appreciated!
Great video! I really love how you splice together the vintage footage with the footage from what she looks like today. Only 2 more weekends until we say goodbye to her.

Anyone remember the "Hell Hole" ride?? I forget what pier it was on...but it was very cool
bobbywire 3 years ago
Sports Land Pier. I wanted to go on it as well as Dr. Bloods but I was something like five years old at the time.... I should have been born in 1966.
