My friends dads a war vet and he loves his custom semi auto 22 the most and he has killed a lot more with that than his 44 and 357.22s are very deadly people you have to realize it hell when I get my 7 shot 990 Taurus revolver 22 tracker and bolt action ill probably kill more things with those than me with a 3006 or 308 or 44

Well, i'm sorry but i have to object about the .22 being as deadly as a .50 cal. With shot placement, it is definitely more deadly. But there have been countless stories of some people shot in the *head* with a .22, and survived. With a .50 cal, man, you'd have to scrub the brains off the wall. Lol.

@mekque in the USA? none, you just need to fill out a BATFE Form 4 and pay a $200 tax stamp, then wait at most 3 months for processing, if you you pass that(same requirements as any other gun, background check for felonies, violent crimes, stays in mental institutions, being a drunkard or drug addict, dishonorable discharge from the military, ect) you'll get the paperwork to buy the gun, either from a Class III FFL holder or a private sale through a Class III FFL holder.

a .22 is a very deadly weapon. a hollow point 22 will shatter some bones, but just bounce off of others. if it hits your rib it will shatter it causing the bone to hit your vital organs.

@1alexWhitley yes but there is a slight difference a .22 also wont penetrate kevlar far enough, and is a fairly shorter ranged round in terms of battle field use.

but yes outside of the battlefield, such as in the case of home defense, a well placed .22 shot can be even MORE deadly than a 9mm round or the like. a hollow point .22 will penetrate the skull, but seeing how much velocity it loses and the fragmenting of the bullet, it bounces around the skull, essentially turning the brain to jello

the gun is not jamming, most jams i have ever experienced require that you dig the round out of the chamber... however when the round has been manufactured incorrectly the gun strikes the rim, but has no recoil to re-cock and eject the round. that and if the firearm is not clean it can fail to fire as well... but more likely cheap ammo was the cause of the failures...

It could be the ammo. If it's super-high velocity, (or low), it might just not be cycling properly. For instance, i can't use minimags in my Ruger 10/22- it jams every other shot. Conversely, subsonic .22 does the same thing.
