This was absolutely the best number of season 3. Season 2 had several outstanding tunes including Apologize , Soul Sista, and If I were a Boy, but none had "push" of this Queen Medley. Of course the Aires were not going to win for many of the reasons already listed.

I'm sorry, but this is just shit. All the Dartmouth Aires did was to sing the songs as they were originally, and they didn't even do that great a job on that. At least Afro-Blue showed some insane creativity with their Janet Jackson arrangements! There were DEFINITE pitch issues in this Queen medley! I DO NOT understand how they lasted so long- so ridiculous!

@Lunaedea7 I think it's because of the amount of respect Queen has gathered. They didn't want to take the risk of ruining any of the songs by remixing them, because, well, it's Queen. This was a very difficult medley, and I think they nailed it. Some things are just better off left as originals, at the expense of creativity.

A recording contract isn't what the Aires need. They need a show on Vegas or somewhere. I probably wouldn't rock out to them driving around, but I'd pay lots of money to see them put on a show.

Every single one of reviews is extremely biased against these guys. Afro blue should have been gone awhile ago. Their pitch is everywhere and they miss the mark every week. Killer Queen and Somebody To Love was great. but Bohemian Rhapsody on the other was just horrible. They would have been better off doing the Ballad part over the Opera part. The opera part has way too much at the low end compared to the Ballad and they have prombles at that end. I understand they need to make it their own but they need to lower the "will not let you go" and keep "Let me go" to make the distinction between the Judge(s) with the power and the townpeople who don't

Watching this performance gave me chills, Michael at the end with the high notes in Somebody to Love, it was beautiful. Probably one of the best performances that I've seen on this show in all of its 3 seasons. I think the Aires will win it all.

I think that this performance proves this group isn't a normal college group due to the presence of Michael (star power) and then several other strong soloists. The high range of some of the upper register guys is sick and gives them a really full, mature sound. I think they have better pure vocalists and a chance to make it to the top 3.. I do think Pentatonix has more appeal for a contract, and afro/delilah are a real toss up at the moment.. urban method/vocal point being next eliminations

Seeing as this upcoming week is country week I feel that Afro-Blue will be eliminated. The Urban Method performance was leaked and they sounded solid on country. I believe that Vocal Point will win it all, they have had 1 sub-par performance and that was due to emotions for Ben's dad

And dear Broadway Producers/Casting Directors I found your Judas for the upcoming revival of Jesus Christ Superstar. His name is Michael and he attends Dartmouth. I think the Aiers will be in the top 4. with Pentatomix, Vocal Point, and Afro Blue. With Deliliah with a slight chance this is rock and country coming up. Unless like Urban does Walk this Way with Aero Smith and Run Dmc and I dont know something for country I see them going home. Yes, it was flawlessly executed, but there is also very little artistic interpretation to this medley. They basically did Queen songs pretty much how they appear on the original records, and the Aires is a huge enough group to make that happen with ease. This group has yet to do a performance that made me think, "Hmm, now that was an interesting way to do it!' When I heard they were doing Queen, I knew exactly how it would sound and be performed. On this show, you gotta push the envelope to win

@gypsyjazzbo You have a valid point. However sometimes a group can pass over originality for emotion. I don't know about you but I nearly cried when I heard Somebody to Love. It was so emotional for me and I still tear up a little bit when I listen to it. I agree that I'd probably listen to a group like Penatonix more often than the Aires. But there are times like now when all I want to hear is their voice blending beautifully. Just playing devils advocate for a moment.

I think appealing to emotion while retaining the original arrangement requires the presuppostion that "We are going to do it better than the original artist!' I don't think the Aires offered anything that I could not have found on a Queen record. Thus, I see their performance is an appeal to novelty in how they reproduced with voice alone what has already long since been recoreded, and it thus lacks little artistic value, in my opinion.

Yes, Somebody to Love was excellent, but Killer Queen was super-underwhelming and Bohemian Rhapsody is both an overdone song in general, but also felt like it was lacking energy and any wow factor - just like a bunch of guys singing along to the song in a bar. These guys have overstayed their welcome, in my opinion. :(

I went into this expecting to hate it.

I mean, Killer Queen isn't a particularly powerful song, and the idea of a collegiate group singing Bohemian Rhapsody is downright cliched--*everybody* does it. When they copped out on the insanely high "for MEEEEE!" at 3:26 (it was there for a fraction of a second, but then it cut out), I thought my preconceived notions were right...

...then "Somebody To Love" won me over.

Mark my words, this guy's destined for Broadway.
