Dont you agree that 80's cr's had as much power as nowadays? ;)
I have a -86 engine in my kart and it's a thrill, when you get on the powerband it whips my head back, rear end gets loose in the corners and it can keep up with a 250yz engined full-fairing kart...
@eamh2002 thats because honda decided to make one mean motherfucker of a powerband back in the late 80s, they put mainly all of the power in the high rpms, although this did mean it lagged a bit on tight twisty tracks, it raped similar bikes on straights. Take a look at my vid , you will see what i mean
@toxsickdog I wish i could race back in the 80s. I imagen it to be so much more fun, today it is generally a big show, not really about the riding... if you know what i mean...
im 13 and im rippin on that same bike pretty much bullet proof it keeps up with the 03 yz125 one hell of a powerband, do you remember what you mixed the gas and oil at on that bike by chance?
Nice work there and brings back memories. I used to race an '83 Elsinore just like that back in the day. Gotta dig up the old VHS from my mom's place and get on DVD soon before the tapes stick and wont play. Might be too late already :(
When I was a kid I would've killed for that bike. From the era when Honda was the most dominant team with the best factory bikes made. To this day the works RC250 is the most beautiful MX bike I've ever seen.
sweet bike and great riding. i have an 83 kdx 250 and i love it. i rode an 01 yz 125 and it was pretty awesome but i wanna buy an 80's cr or mx'er coz the new bikes are just so easy to ride. i suppose thats a good thing but i like my bike with a bit of unpredictability and a little bit of weight and you just cant get that now .
I bought an 86 125 a month ago. Last night i bought the same bike as my first ever,a 1984 cr 125 from an old guy who had it in a barn for 10 years. Paid $120.00 for it! I don't care if that one ever gets finished, it's just nice to have it. 2 strokes forever!
Sweet ride...I have a 1984 CR 125 that is CHERRY...bought it in 99 have ridden it like 6 hours. Just got it out of storage after 3 years. Should I stick with the drum brake on the rear or switch to disk?
probably be a collectors item in a couple years so id keep it original but thats just me. but if u dont wanna sell and make it a fun bike go hydraulic :P i just got a 97 cr125 wata blast to ride
That old CR is really cool...the first model with the front disk brake and the power-valve on the engine. Pity about the junk music in the video...I would much rather hear the sound of the bike.
KILL THE GAY MUSIC !!!! thats not what we want to hear, ill buy a CD if i want to hear music what we want to obviously hear is the bike goin through the gears
why so so many faggots put these vids of vintage bikes and cars to music ? Ridiculous and so gay
i got a mint 84 cr 125 brand new paint and monster sticker kit all black with green stickers brand wiseco pistons 80amg rear swing arm fuel injected 2 stroke goin for 900
probly is those bikes when they came out had stock 31 hp and there light and have strong hitten power bands.i think this was the first year of the atac expantion chamber on these bikes i still gotta get mine goen:(i cant find a casen for it mines cracked
wow thats insane...i just bought a 84 cr 125r and it has like no bottom end-cuz of the pipe that i have on it and stuff like that.its pretty insane.. but wow,im glad to have the bike-its one of a kind.you mean your expansion chamber is cracked??your losin a lot of horse power-look on ebay.
hows the compression on yur bike it should still have pretty good bottom end on it to but hows the mid and top end on it is it strong hitting and real fast?and no my chambers fine looks new.my engine block tho has a crack were the bearings sits i used some cold weld today on it it says it is oil and gas resistante and stuff and can with stand 3000psi of presure so i put it on the crack just to seal it up i stil have to sand and rethread the hole then it wil be good to have the new crank put in
wow, had to watch that twice- good old honda's though mine (94) had some headshake but im glad to have avoided the tailwag the 1980's ones seem to have.
well then i guess you could get pretty much any type of bike,i mostly just trail ride and climb hills and i bought a 99 yz125 for $1000 a couple months ago,if you like 2 strokes you could probably find a good preowned yz80 or 85 or you know whatever manufacturer you like
nice, that looks like an 84 cr 125 judging by the disc in front and the black side panel, not sure if u posted that this is in 83 and thats a 84, i had a 86 and a 88 cr 125, 85 yz 250 and a 87 cr 500. hondas were the best in 86 and 87
why would he get blown away? he looks good enough to race JR class at the old carlsbad track or barona where i used to race,. hes no beginer, but no expert or pro
man a few years back they had 6 speed tranny's. no a days most only have 5 speed. Although the fith gear ratio might be higher but it cant compare to actually having a 6th gear.
I myself have a 84 cr125 and im passing cars on the road and bikes on the track. dont judge untill you drive one of the older bikes man.
Well i have a 2001 CR125 and it goes approx 145.. thats the max i've got it up to i think it could go faster but i got a custom exhaust and bored it out and stuff
i have a 83 but the motor in pieces im rebuilding it i bought it apart since yurs is a year older so there snot much a of a dif is yurs a 6 speed or 5
its a 84 i have a 83 cr125 and i put the 84 gastank and side rad covers on and stuff and side panels and it looks egzacly like that bike except mines a 83 so it had disk brakes they didn put the disk brakes on it till 84 so thats tho only difference but looks liek a 84 to me
Quality of the video is very poor and I think some part of it had no sound. I also think the bike was a 1983 but this was over 20 years ago so I can't remember exactly all of the details.. :-)
This is sweet this was my first full size bike as well the thing was awesome, It sadly ended in a head on collision tho but resulted in a 97 cr250.

nice video! Bit I want to listen to the motor sing.
I raced n 85 CR125R back in'85 & loved that bike.
I tricked mine out pretty heavily with a Mugen engine kit (Cylinder, Piston, Reed,37mm
Mikuni, & Pipe). Also 44mm Fox Forx, Ohlins shock. I used 32:1 golden spectro, &
sometimes I would use 20:1 castrol R. that bike hauled ass with the Mugen kit &
was super fun to race.
