  • indian in the hole! I'd like to see them make this in a concrete floor. hehhe! grat show!

  • bonesandann... this trick is over 100 years old.. and done the same in india and Morocco.. there is a famous black and white film from the bbc of this been done many years back... i dont think air pressure equipment was available back then.. you need to think more than outside the box, like outside your own paradigm.. for example even gravity can be circumvented... peopel live without food and water for years,, this is proven.. truth is stranger than fiction.

  • you have to think outside the box, lateral thinking. In all rope tricks the boy only climbs just above head height.Top half of rope must be air pressure, bottom piece a pressure hose.I suggest this trick is prepared months in advance, therefore a chamber is possible.Tricks are made to look as though they have been spur of the moments, when in fact they take much practice and planning

  • @awakekiwi erodotus, the greek historian wrote about this trick in 1 of his 9 books

  • @maximilianitoaguirre Which book?

  • Hobbes71002. By the way, there is another video from Belfast where you can see the magician lifting the basket from the ground with the rope erect in it, and this was made in public !. So, I can tell everyone to investigate a little more before giving their opinion on this matter.

  • Hobbes71002. I can see you also share the ridiculous opinion of Deavonb. If this were the explanation, notice when they show the magician (1:14 min.) and the rope falls down to the ground. A rod, would fall straight, but in any case falls into the form shown here, isn’t it?. I don’t say it is magic, because that doesn’t exist, but obviously the explanation is far more complex and mysterious. Magicians around the world have tried to explain this trick for about 100 years and no one has yet !.

  • deavonb: How can you say something so stupid like this !!. Whay do you supose ?. That there is someone buried under the earth that is pushing the rod up !!. Don't you feel how stupid is this assumption !!. Please, next time think in something more realistic man, and please don't say craps !.

  • @jhonny1392 It is a lot more realistic than assuming there is any "real magic" happening here.Honestly, it would take less than an hour to dig a hole large enough for a man and creating a hole for a long pole would be fairly simple too. Then you just put down a sheet of plywood with a hole in it and the hollow basket bolted down. Cover it in sand and invite your friends around.

It isn't very ridiculous considering the lengths some magicians go to in order to pull of a trick.

  • that was soooooo fake :)

  • Hat eto brea it to you but theres nothing paranormal about a magic trick. Its a great trick but its no more paranormal then sawing a lady in half.

  • The original description of this trick has the boy climbing the rope, and then disappearing at the top - and all in the open air. However, this is something that has never been witnessed, and as said in the video, it is clearly a myth! If you want to know more about the history of this trick, there is a great book called 'The Rise of the Indian Rope Trick" by Peter Lamont. Fascinating stuff!

  • where can i watch this full episode?

  • lol so offensive

  • didnt know ropes could become phallic symbols

  • "The powers that be dont want this seen as it shows how this world is an illusion and anything is possible."

Please... No one has censored this video for THAT reason, and it doesn't show anything at all like that. By the stop and go motion of the rope as it rises, there is clearly a pole inside it. You can also see that pretty clearly, the pole is retracted quickly at the end (the rope goes slack from the top downward).

  • @neslock I agree its a trick obviously, but the only thing I don't get is how the rod would be able to support the kids weight, considering it has to be telescoping (retractable as you said) and would have to have its entire base inside the basket, what type of material do you think it is?

  • Clearly there is a wooden or steel pole which is "inserted" into the center of the "rope" from the ground. If this Indian were to actually move that basket around, at that point would I truly be amazed.

  • @deavonb there wasnt steel in da middle if it fell at the end

  • @enzocuseo The steel rod could also fall, no?

  • @deavonb If you watch the hole program you see that he lifts the basket.

  • @deavonb Watch the longer version - /watch?v=y0AgvxEx754&feature=feedrec_grec_index - He does.

  • @deavonb watch?v=y0AgvxEx754&feature=related

    full version

  • Oh good, no murder! It's modern, so no murder it is =D

Wow, very interesting trick I wonder how it is ^^

=D Thank you for posting this up.

  • you r living in your own world

  • I prefer the 1930's version, it's a pretty simple trick IMO. The only thing I doubt is the old saying where the person would "cimb so high that he would disappear from site" which would be extremely hard to do, especially in the 13th century when this was explained first.

  • i dont think anyone would sensor this trick of course its not showing how to make a nuke at your back yard :)

  • wow such rubbish comments

  • . I bet the original was not really a myth of a trick, it probably was real.. thats the funny part. haha.

  • wow.. im impressed you can copy and paste from a dictionary, such quick insight! hehe.. but it only describes the effect, not the cause or the method of delivery. In fact immediate apprehension happens faster than the speed of light on the etheric plane, it is instantaneous, just light science has proven that 2 particles can react to each other instantly over any distance in certain situations.

MAFAWLOL, sniggle. ps: did u meet an unusual or unknown person in your dreams last night?

  • "In fact immediate apprehension happens faster than the speed of light on the etheric plane, it is instantaneous, just light science has proven that 2 particles can react to each other instantly over any distance in certain situations." Does your flying carpet travel faster than the speed of light also?

"ps: did u meet an unusual or unknown person in your dreams last night?"

No, I rarely dream and I dont know what it's like to have a nightmare. Sorry to disappoint you.

  • Hiya, its no surprise, clones rarely dream, its something to do with their design. I havnt got a flying carpet, but in a previous life I had several, and from memory enjoyed very much using them, cheers.

  • There is no end to your delusions of grandeur. You're truly wasting your life away.

  • the world is full of billions of people each living their own life, its all relative, one persons wasting is another persons norm. If you think your somehow the ideal human then your sadly mistaken. Variety is the spice of life. Dont get too excited about your normality or materialism, but I guess its your life so its your right to be what you are, right? snickle

  • I wish all people understood that as well as you do.

  • @awakekiwi guess what? im an actual clone, and we do dream. done blieve me? identical twins are exact clones of eachother, as we share the same genetic pattern

  • just agree to disagree and move on... "the worlds an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" Einstein. In other words, nothing is really quite how it seems to be, but you are obviously a total materialist and you will NEVER ever agree with me or the millions of others who think like me and may believe in fairy's for example. So there's no point in you slagging me off and me hitting back and so on, its just pointless and boring, but hey if ya get a kick out of it or something.. sad for u :]

  • "the worlds an illusion, albeit a very persistent one" LOL You dumbass!Nice try with your "appeal to authority" with a quote you failed to understand. What YOU percieve as reality is merely an illusion(such as illusions themselves). How ironic it is that you would use that quote!! lol

"The only real valuable thing is intuition." ~ Albert Einstein Time for work, have fun at school you jackass. ;-p

  • hehe.. hilarious that you didnt even understand my post, so arrogant and sure of yourself.. but if your a materialist then i see why u dont understand my veiwpoint I love this quote "The only real valuable thing is intuition.", its funny that you would include this quote as it is clear that you have no idea as to the actual nature of intuition, how it functions and through what medium it operates (etheric plane via Tachyon propagation).. as for magik, jysafhwft i.i.t.v.r.o.t yahaveh nam! :}

  • Intuition-1. direct perception of truth, fact, etc., independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension.

    2. a fact, truth, etc., perceived in this way.

    3. a keen and quick insight.

    4. the quality or ability of having such direct perception or quick insight. You oxymoron LOL!

  • ps: your such a cheese muppet! :]

  • first: for some reason you assume thats the best magic can do (of course its not, any magician knows that :])

second: I didnt censor anything, i found this on utube years back, saved it and then reloaded it when I saw it had been removed from others videos. But I have seen the full episode on tv, so no i didnt censor anything. you did make a vague guess, my assertions are based on my life experience with magic as a tangible reality, anyway think what you like, all opinions are just opinions :]

  • There is no such thing as magic. Every magician KNOWS that. Its trickery nothing more. These bums could win a million dollars from JREF if their magic is really genuine. Ofcourse they wont even try because they truly know its a magic "trick" not magic. The rope is hollow, its a casing, you can tell at the end of your censored video. Even standard ropes are hollow. continued-

  • Single braid ropes consists of even number of strands, eight or twelve being typical, braided into a circular pattern with half of the strands going clockwise and the other half going anticlockwise. The strands can interlock with either twill or plain weave. The central VOID may be large or small; in the former case the term HOLLOW braid is sometimes preferred. Look it up yourself, or just ignore everything that doesnt agree with your narrow minded world view.

  • I cant believe your channel is under "sceince & education". Just a quick glance at your videos any1 can tell that isnt the case. Sceince & education, LOL more like faries & unicorns.

  • ps: your hilarious!! shehenazi, really funny, you say I have a narrow minded world view and yet you cant even fathom magic or faries or anything unusual. Call yourself a sheheNAZI? but you dont even know about magic? you could learn a thing or two from hitler. :]

  • the rope is hollow, it looks like chinese finger cuffs. something must be inserted to lift the rope and so the kind can climb. it is pulled out afterwards making the rope appear to lose its "magic" powers. notice the video ends without letting penn finish what he was saying, and telling you in the description that the rope trick is censored from you tube by a big conspiracy. there are plenty of rope tricks on here. the only thing that is censored is the following logical explaination.

  • Firstly, "the following logical explanation" was not censored. Secondly this is the only pen and teller rope trick on youtube, previous ones were removed probably for copyright reasons. Thirdly if you can find and watch the entire episode you will note that there was no hole or cavity under the ground where someone could have inserted "something" to make the rope tight. pen and teller made very sure there was no way to fool them. It still remains a mystery. Your explanation is a vague guess.

  • Where the fuck is it? Your video is only 1:49. YOU censored it, now you say its due to copyright reasons but in YOUR description you say. "The powers that be dont want this seen as it shows how this world is an illusion and anything is possible." Insinuating magic conspiracy theories. You accuse me of making a vague guess, while you make blind assertions. A rope rising out of a basket, it MUST be magic! If thats the best magic can do, its completely fucking useless. Use magic on your I.Q.

  • u guys see the the building in the middle behind the video itis the taj mahal number 1 out of the7 wonders

  • Oh Really? I thought it was the Brighton Pavilion.

  • I thought it was a mormon temple.

  • i thought it was the great wall of china

  • I figued out away a to do the traditional rope trick (not a joke) I'm looking for interested buyers.

  • I will buy it! How much?
