Why not rent? My local library has 500+ games (really), and it's FREE! Also there's GameFly or Blockbuster Online. I know I'm in the minority, which is really shocking, because I REALLY don't understand why people buy games they know they will be beating in under 20 hours and tossing aside. You buy it, you beat it, you get some of the achievements, and then you toss it aside, and then you trade it in for $15 down the road. Congratulations, you basically just rented the game for $60 - $15 = $45.
I bought Final Fantasy from gamecrazy, and something in the middle was cracked. It was very suttle though, so it took taking it out of the box a few times before it finall broke off. Another time I bought a 64 game from the same store, and inside the catridge it was chipped. So they gave it to me have off. I'd say give it to me for free or throw it in with the other guys I bought. They should check before they buy used games from customers.

Gamestop said they had a copy of Soul Calibur 4 for 360 in the actual box at another store, so they called em and told them to hold it for me. I got a used game (Cube) for PSP from Entertainmart. Got to the car, poped the game out the case, and the damn CD inside the UMD case fell out! Took that crap right back in, and the only other one they had was fallin apart too! I had to fight for about 30 minutes to get a refund! Then they flagged my ID, so I cant do any refunds at Entertainmart now - so I no longer shop there.

i bought the incredible hulk for 360 at gamestop. they had a used version for 30 bucks and a new for 40. the new was plain just the game and stuff. but the old was really cool because it was a preordered one, before whoever sold it, so it came with a limited edition red hulk character. and i was psyched. cheaper game with an extra character great right? but out of the two disks the one they put in my box happens to be the new one so i get home and no red hulk. i know they didn't know but man....

I hate EBGames and GameStop with a passion. I actively refuse to do any business with them. Not only are their used games a rip off (bad condition often), if you decide to trade in games, they'll rip you off and jack up the price when they sell it to you. On top of that, the dudes that work there often don't know anything about games and they just try to get you to buy this and that (at least from what I remember from about 4 years ago). I do my game getting on like Amazon mostly.

1) Blockbuster's selection of games is about 10 PS2 titles from before 2005. Maybe a few platformers no one wanted to rent, too. Don't expect to be able to purchase GTA IV or anything. They want $40 for GTA III.
2) Blockbuster went out of business because of iTunes and Netflix.

dude i work at EB games (GameStop) which is where you most likely bought the game. some times people steal the cases off the shelf thinking the game disk is inside, people are jackasses. and because it's used you're only ever paying for the disk. If it has a case and or book we consider it a bonus, people trade games all the time without cases or books. one simple solution to your problem is to just buy new games.
so basically, i went to try and get me some money for returning my broken 360 which i didnt expect all that much anyways. but i turn it in and everything. and they say they will give me 50 bux for a broken 360 that i bought for 250. and it kinda still worked. the only thing wrong with it is that it didnt read disks. so im like o well, thats ok. but then they say i have to give them a wireless controler which is like 40 bux or they dont accept it...
at my gamestop even used cames are just an empty case, you briing it into the counter, and they have like 10 filing cabnets with used game discs and 30-40 of new in the back room. so the take the disc out of the cabnet, put it in the case, and if your case doesnt hasve a book, theyll put one in if they have any. my gamestop show the games love

yeah dude i hate that shit.. I've only bought a few "Used Games" and i wont do it again..lol, i like it where, if i buy a game it has to be new, i like it where, i open it, and its me thats has opend for the first time.. not some other kid who opend then put some scrathces on it then trades it in, and i get a scratched disk, still works, but its scratched.. so me i go with the new games..lol.. *advice* dont EVER! go to blockbuster for a used game o0 holy freakin crap..

gamestop always trys to get me to buy used games and then they get pissed off when i dont want to buy it used.....i hate when they try to talk me into buying a game that is missing a booklet or doesnt work for shit.
ive had to argue with them just to get them to sell me a new game...some reason they try to make people buy used games and if you dont want it used they start to be smart asses about it.

I hate EBGames and GameStop with a passion. I actively refuse to do any business with them. Not only are their used games a rip off (bad condition often), if you decide to trade in games, they'll rip you off and jack up the price when they sell it to you. On top of that, the dudes that work there often don't know anything about games and they just try to get you to buy this and that (at least from what I remember from about 4 years ago). I do my game getting on like Amazon mostly.

I totally agree. Everytime I walk into gamestop in Humboldt the manager is on the phone with her husband or kids or some shit. she never knows a damn thing about when the good games are coming out nd she cops an attitude with me everytime I go up to buy something without my ID.
So after I moved to Oregon I figure things will be better at this game store Gamecrazy. nope. all the employees look like they just got done takin a bonghit they don't know shit about games and they aint nice to NE1!!

Also, I don't work there, I just haven't had the problems you guys are complaining about. When I buy a game and they ask me about reserves, I say, "No, that's all for today." That's it. Of course they have to shove the reserves down your throat, that's there job. You don't want it, say no. Not that hard, but I guess when you have no balls and let people talk you into stuff, it is. Go to Walmart instead, where they know nothing about games and think Mass Effect is a medical disorder. Have fun.

That's crap that game having no book. That's the best part of opening the box. The smell of the book. It retains the new plastic smell for months sometimes YEARS after you originally got the game.
I'm totally addicted to the new game smell. Minute I opened Mirror's Edge I stuck my nose right in there.

It's not a matter of caring. It's business. What'd you trade in? Halo 3? They have shitloads of copies of that game. You shouldn't expect to be able to trade in Mass Effect and get $40 for it when there's 20 copies on the shelf already. Same goes for games no one buys. If you trade in Fantavision (one of the PS2 launch games), why should they give you over $20 for a nine-year-old game no one will buy? You don't know how business works, my friend.

they did the same thing to me when i got littlebigplanet. there was that buy 2 get 1 free offer i got LBP first (paid & everything) with a box for a ps2 game not the ps3 box!!! then went to get the second game (Battlefield Bad Company) and told them i was going to get the third game and they said NO cause i had already gotten LBP so i just paid my games and left!!!!! i feel you're pain man

Okay, two things.
1) Blockbuster's selection of games is about 10 PS2 titles from before 2005. Maybe a few platformers no one wanted to rent, too. Don't expect to be able to purchase GTA IV or anything. They want $40 for GTA III.
2) Blockbuster went out of business because of iTunes and Netflix.

lol...back when I used to play wow ...this fat asian dude at gamestop sold me a used copy of the burning crusade....and they were cheeky enough to wrap it back up in plastic to trick me...the card was already scratched and it didn't work...and chong..or whatever his name was didn't give me the money back...so I kicked one of the stands down and got kicked out of the store...

I absolutely understand your point, I also think it's important to have a booklet, cover and all that stuff...I mean if I just want a game I can buy it online and save money. I go to a store, I pay a few dollar/euro/what ever more and then I expect to have that booklet and a cover and all that stuff.

dude i work at EB games (GameStop) which is where you most likely bought the game. some times people steal the cases off the shelf thinking the game disk is inside, people are jackasses. and because it's used you're only ever paying for the disk. If it has a case and or book we consider it a bonus, people trade games all the time without cases or books. one simple solution to your problem is to just buy new games.

so basically, i went to try and get me some money for returning my broken 360 which i didnt expect all that much anyways. but i turn it in and everything. and they say they will give me 50 bux for a broken 360 that i bought for 250. and it kinda still worked. the only thing wrong with it is that it didnt read disks. so im like o well, thats ok. but then they say i have to give them a wireless controler which is like 40 bux or they dont accept it...

at my gamestop even used cames are just an empty case, you briing it into the counter, and they have like 10 filing cabnets with used game discs and 30-40 of new in the back room. so the take the disc out of the cabnet, put it in the case, and if your case doesnt hasve a book, theyll put one in if they have any. my gamestop show the games love
