  • I hate the mallet part to prelude....all two measures of it :P the siciliano and rondo parts, esp the rondo part ROCK!!!!!!!

  • c'mon horns.....i can barely hear you

  • Played this at camp! it was my favorite song from that week! <3 Rondo

  • When I played this in grade 10, the "gong" on 0:52 was supposed to b e played "Fortissimo" and let to resound... it seems they didn't let it resound at all... just hit it 'Forte", gave it a 2 beat resound, and dampened it.

  • @allanvs You do know that everyone has their own interpretation of a song and that it is very likely the director told the percussionist to do that. There's more to music than what's written on the page. While it's one thing to butcher a song, small stylistic changes and such make pieces feel unique for every ensemble that performs it.

  • This 3rd movement is really slow compared to what we did. Nice upload though.

  • My class sight-read this all my freshmen year, our director wanting us to play it really bad haha oh well xP that was when I played 3rd clarinet and hated my part, but now I play 1st oboe and love this song D;

  • my school band is playing this :)

  • my band is playing this song for omea contest

  • @steveforthree in the version im playing its at 60 bpm but the trombone gets no shots at the melody

  • lol my symphonic band at my school is playing this =)

  • dude, i love this song!! it's so much fun to play, too!! :DDDDDDD

  • I played this in band my freshman year of high school. I haven't picked up a trumpet in 2 years, but I bet I could still play the Rondo, It was so much fun.

  • Tune that trumpet.

  • Playing this in band. Siciliano is most definitely my favorite. :)

  • i could barely hear the descending sixteenth notes that are supposed to be played by low brass. the bass needs to be much louder

  • @LikeAPierrot69 its actually the low winds... i'd know

  • Ahhh, needs stronger bass on Sic... actually it just needs more bass period.

  • @animecello sup bro, u like what we gonna play this year? I cant wait, but our band sucks at siciliando, and it makes me sadface... =(

  • @asdfgfdsa44 R they playing it slow?

  • @Anonymous4609 normal speed

  • @RealMadrid560 Yup! we got some really good players this year:)

  • 1:35 Squeak! :)

  • 1:36 Squeak :)

  • Our 6th grade beginner class is playing this.

  • @asdfgfdsa44 i really doubt that this is an advanced high school piece

  • Im doing this song in my 8th grade band class, pretty exciting....:)

  • 8th grade?? i believe im doing it for a senior band :S @Anonymous4609

  • There was a run in rondo that1st cornet didn't play here. I totally listened to that one part like 10 times just in case it was overly piano but no. Otherwise I really like the way this recording sounded. Good Job:D

  • I just did this piece in our wind ensemble concert at my college it was a very nice piece :)

  • The little clarinet that could at 1:36 hahaha.

  • 7:37 - 7:58 "Rock-a-bye baby, in the treetop. When the wind blows, the cradle will rock. When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall. And down will come baby, cradle and all." I love that part.

  • Bass Clarinets! I love Siciliano, it's such a lovely piece. I'm learning this in school, and it's stuck in my head - actually, I want it to be.

  • POWER TO BASS CLAR'S 2nd is my fav movement when we get to play that little part when we go lower

  • im in 8th grade and i play bass clarinet in the rsms symphonic band and we're playing this at indianapolis!!!

    Woo Hoo

  • Ahh, I had that beautiful solo for Siciliano.

  • @dmogovan cornet solo? me too! -highfive- LOL

  • we're playing dhis song now ! imma bassoon

  • their bassoonist needs to play out more

  • @pokenaruto54 imma a bassoonist !

  • im a freshman and we rockin thiss

  • @beddleleddle same

  • 1:35 Clarinet Squeak ROFL

  • ROFL 8:53 Clarinet Squeak FTW

  • My favorite movement is Rondo...i love how fast it is!

  • Very Great. High this high school is great whether it be the music or not

  • first time i played this was when i was about 14, little daunting to start with, but once through it a few times its rather easy.

horns live on forever (and my fellow french hornists, did you realise we play an "endagered species"? xD)

  • Really great job on this!!! =] Our symphonic band is learning to play Siciliano, it's SUCH a romantic peice isn't it??? I'm trying to play this on piano now, I can't get enough of it!

  • I just love the trumpet solo in Siciliano, but the french horns don't do much help to support.

  • @MegaTrumpetBot320 Nor the low brass... my band has a very strong baritone player, he played that bit out and it sounded absolutely wonderful.

  • im playing this right now in classs it sound good but some part are quite pitchy in the recording other wise good work :)

  • This is gonna be so much fun to play in Denver for Metro State festival. Flute forever!

  • Nice work, but needs practice... And trust me, It's about 5x more fun 2x faster.

  • Very nice! Little problems with intonation here and there though. Trumpet solo in Prelude and Siciliano needs a little work I think. Flutes... (and bells) that little 16th note run in Prelude was EEEK!! And the beginning of the solo I think the flute was a little flat so roll out on the A. When second flute comes in after the 16ths was really out of tune!!!! Good job though!!

-Got a Superior rating w/ my high school band this year- flute player :D

  • @blueheart26 Someone has a good ear! haha.

  • it is SO much fun to play bass drum for rondo. especially the accelerando at the end followed by straight quarter notes at double forte

  • Our Junior high band is playing this ;)

  • ur french horns are pretty darn bad

  • those poor french horns :) its so hard to play that!

  • as a french horn player, i can back up that assertion. it's hard.

  • @magicalt3ddyb3ar i play french horn but i been playing for quite a while with practise this piece is quite easy except for the third movement but with time put into it wil be good i must add that the french horns really need to put more effort in playin the rite nots consistantly

  • @magicalt3ddyb3ar bassoons have it worse! i have to play this for my high school band and ive been playing for a month in a half! i have most of it down eccept the accidentals in the melody of rondo

  • @pokenaruto54 true !

  • I remember our band played this last year for UIL, and our main trumpet guy played his solos perfect in Siciliano , then he cracked a note on his last one and he was in tears the whole way back on the bus. aahaa it was crazy.

  • WOOT! We play this song for our band too ^-^

  • I love this piece. we aare playing it in band too lol

  • yay!! I love being in the HEHS band... Mr. E is really great :D awesome song

  • I'm playing this in band on piccolo :)

  • I love this song, our band is playing it right now, and I agree with Ender618m, it is pretty much the next song after Ascension, we played the Divine comedy show for our marching show last year. I also agree with the comments on tuning and timing, those are the 2 things that get us. Otherwise I love this song for trombone, except Siciliano is too repetitive

  • also playing this for my High School band also on trombone I have to say playing the Prelude part is just so much fun it's such a beautiful song

  • I had to sightread this once... AT A CONCERT... probably the most fun piece after Ascension from the Divine Comedy. Loved it, played in the horn duet, and found Rondo surprisingly fun, despite going three notes over my usual range. I agree, trumpet solo needs work.

  • eeek... tuning.

  • trumpet solo in Siciliano needs more shaping like vibrato on the whole notes. Its a solo so play it like one, and don't cut-off with the tongue, just stop the air and let the tone ring instead of abruptly stopping and going sharp. and watch intonation in higher woodwinds.... all in all very good job on the piece!!

  • you're right on.

  • the 16th note runs on rondo are a ton of fun.

  • This is our piece for a festival we will be playing in sometime in the spring. I'm excited.

  • I was supposed to play this in a concert tomorrow, and the director cut out the first two movements! He didn't think we were good enough to play them, but the one we had the most trouble with was Rondo! I'm ticked.

  • we are playing this in our band in december. on siciliano clarients have 8th notes, well more like 16th b/c its in 6/8 time, and i did not here them. but this is one of the prettiest things ive ever played. it should be a piece on its own, instead of justa movement

  • Comment removed

  • The French Horns should watch thier notes in the very beginning of Sicilano. And you guys need help on your timing.

  • the 16th note runs on a euphoninum are soo fun

  • siciliano is soo damn hot.

  • these pieces are so cool!!!!!!!!! i was supposed to play this in honor band but my schedule didnt let me >:/ but this is a really awesome song

  • i played this in 7th grade honor band in coppell o.o! haha i remember this song. if you want to look at our band.. its COPPELL HIGH SCHOOL marching band (:

  • yea i doubt that...

  • wow c'mon timpani...

  • our teachers having us play it. were in 8th grade and i play tuba god its hard

  • no its not. it's badass on tuba

  • >=[ What happened the the sixteenth notes in Rondo Baritones?! I'm a sophomore and can play it clean!

  • Go Baritones! My band is playing this piece and in Siciliano my director has me (first chair Baritone) playing all of the Bassoon ques =[) I don't like the 16 notes in Rondo though lol

  • I'm playing 1st clarinet for this music in my college band. I like everything about it except those sixteenth note runs in Siciliano...awkward fingerings lol..

  • i hear you! those were tough! lol, but i love this piece! i already played it in my band.

  • great great great music our band is pplaying this for our band competion i love the kind of tuba trumpet thing in the begining of sicialono

  • where you go to school

  • WHOO! go oboe!

  • Prelude is really quiet....At D, we have a picc, flute and xylo play, instead of just the xylo.

Whenever we play Rondo, I think of Zelda. xDD!

  • they need more first trumpets

  • AW they played Rondo a litlle too slow... oh well i'm probably gonna stink at it...my middle school honor band is playing this year for UIL......go second clarinets!!! oh i like Siciliando the best!!! even thought i don't have the part that i want for it...oh well it's fun to hear the trumpets play my favorite part!!!LOL

  • my band is playing movements 2 and 3

  • GO 2ND TROMBONES ---->ME

  • Go trombones!(:

  • to whoever played mallets...

    you need lots of work.

  • I'm playing this in Symphonic Band this year, I especially like the Siciliano movement.

  • crazy eyes is that you? cuz im also playing this in symphonic band. i like the rondo though

  • its pretty good the only problem i have is that that u guys didnt accent during this one parrt of the A section of the rondo pattern but otherwise good

  • i played this in middle school. i love this piece so much. right behind variations on a korean folk song..

  • did you really?! I just played a band concert with P,S,&R and variations on a korean folk song!! i was bass drum on PSR and triangle/sus. cymbal on variations

  • i actually played them both in middle school. 7th and 8th respectively. at lincoln middle school in florida when mr david olsen was my band director. i can honestly say we played up to a very high level. very small intonation quirks at the most.

  • omg i played both of those in middle school!

mizukage7668 i went to lincoln and was in mr. olsen's band too! that's so awesome xD

do you know where he moved? is he still teaching?

  • im playing this song as a alto sax player, there pretty cool peices

  • I am playing this song in band right now and it sounds so cool

  • My 8th grade honor winds played this for UIl, straight 1's ^^

  • We're learning this now, and it seems like a pretty great piece. What a fantastic job.

  • I played this song at for our region band concert in 8th grade and again last year (junior year) for UIL

  • we played this my sophomore year in high school i think it was so awesome!

  • We just played this song this past Wednesday, it was beautiful...

  • Very Good playing. Personal favorite is the 2nd movement solo

  • Siciliano is great, period. This movement pretty much made 6/8 one of my favorite signatures.

  • sweet

  • My band is playing this for Micca-I'm so happy to find a good quality video to listen to to get this out of my head! :)
