Thanks again for the info! Click on my name to go to our channel and check out our rappelling/rock climbing shirts--and the Vietnamese model we enlisted to show them off!
Looks painful, especially for a heavy guy like me. I usually wear a 5.11 belt with steel rescue buckle. Works for emergency rappels with a single carabiner and a munter. Well, it's not really comfortable either.
I used to work ski patrol and we used this setup to rappel from a chair lift. (We used the webbing and it does hurt if you are not arranged properly.) We carried this setup because it was light and easy to fit in a pack. Less weight, easier and safer to ski. In 3 years of patrol I used it 3 times in training and twice for real.
KKKKKKKKKKKKKKK...FOR GOD...!!!! YOUR BALLS ARE KILLED WITH THAT HARNESS....// I WOULDN'T RAPPEL OFF MY COUCH WEARING THAT CRAP....HEHEHEH....GO TO MY VIDEOS AND LEARN HOW TO MAKE A REAL HARNESS OUT OF A ROPE...
@ZK818 I watched your video...or enough of it at least and since you went to so much trouble to show us all your wonderful rope-work skills, you should have used webbing...all i had with me was a cordelette (which I'm sure you've never heard of). At least I did mention it should be made with webbing for more comfort. BTW...I think you're cap-lock is stuck.
I'm in volunteer search and rescue and I'm reviewing videos of before I do my ropes training. I have a few questions.
Which knot did you use to tie the loops together and why?
In a real pinch, is it possible to rappel without a Belay device using a Munter Mule and combining it with a Klemheist knot to catch in the event the rate of descent is too great?
Is it possible to add an extra twist in the front to avoid pinching the family jewels?

@ninet999 I use a double fisherman...mostly out of habit I guess. And yes, you can use a Munter or a carabiner break...in a pinch...pardon the pun.
