I can´t really understand how there are 24 real douchebag people which don´t like this video. I want to see them doing something like this man is doing for his kid.
@JustsomeoneLOVE He is in a wheel chair because when he was born yu got stragled my his mothers ambilicord so he was paralised from his neck down.. then university found a way he could communicate as he couldnt speak.. it was a machine that pronounce what he was thinking.. then his dad asked him what his biggest wish was .. and it was to do the iron man triathlon. His dad worked for years and years and finally did it.
i can only imagine the strength this man have physically.. swimming while carrying someone else is hard.. but with a inflatable boat with a man in it, is extremellllllly hard the weight is greatly multiplied.. I wish when the time comes... I would be a father as great as him.. T_T
there's no words that can discribe how i feel right now! This is what father-son love is ALL about. You're supposed to love your children no matter what obstacles may come in your way. now this is how to set an example for future parents!
This video honestly touched my heart that I started crying. Guess some things are truly possible...especially with such faith like them. Everyone should be grateful for what they have..people hardly take the time to appreicate even the small things in life...But this is beautiful..God is soo amazing.
I sat here, I watched this and I cried. I cried because it puts everything into perspective. When I hear a powerful and inspirational story like this, I realise how my worries fall into insignificance compared to what the Hoyt's must face everyday. This story has truely moved me. God Bless Dick and Rick Hoyt!
i could reply 2 this video every morning, and probably will .you are the love of OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.AMEN.PEACE TO YOU MR. HOYT AND YOOUR FAMILY. YOU ARE SUCH A BLESSING

Mr Hoyt, you're such an inspiration! I didn't have my dad's love, but it warms my heart just to see your love for your son. You ran, swam, cycled, and completed the triathlon. There's no prize greater than seeing the smile on your son's face when you finished the race. It's beautiful!

A wonderful example of HIS GRACE for us.. when you think you cant make it or wanting to give up..HE is pushing, pulling, holding, lifting and carrying us.. HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR EACH NEW DAY and all that we do HE SEE'S US THROUGH~ If you haven't, let JESUS IN YOUR HEART TODAY HE will be there every step of the way~
Dear Hoyt family~BLESSINGS (I'm sure you have abundantly) from our hearts for you thank you for being living witness'
Im tearing, this means sooooo much!!!Because some father's don't know the little things can touch their kids life, The fact that the father never thought once about it he just did it. I wish my kids father would do the same for his kids. He thinks money is love. When I talk he thinks Im jealous of his relationship or I just want him around for me. That's not the case!! But, I am all my girls have and I will continue to motivate them and do whatever they want to do. God is my redeemer!!
It's so incredibly powerful to see the love of this father carrying his son! Then I think about the fact that Jesus carried all of man kind when we were helpless to do it on our own...and I am so very grateful Jesus intervened to save our souls~
This weekend i attended a woman ministry with Elizabeth Talbot as the speaker, and after seeing this video all the women in the room had tears in their eyes..
This is sooo touching:) they inspire me. My mom ran Boston twice and saw them while running and she said it was amazing to see them and she said she got all choked up. They are so amazing:) They are truley heros
We Christians can use any example, since Our God Created everyone and and He created those two people for His glory and as an image of His amazing love for us sinners!!! " I know My redeemer lives, and He is there for me, and for you too even if you reject Him, He is there waiting for you too, with His unconditioned amazing love!!!
@BelgianAtheist: actually, the official video is "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe - a Christian band and a Christian song on their official site. But the version with "My Redeemer Lives" is also available for purchase from their e-store. :)
@cornofstarchy indeed I have since found out that they are indeed quite christian, does it not seem strange that it is so hidden on their website, almost as if they are ashamed of it....
@BelgianAtheist: No, not really. The basis of our belief is to lead by example. Preaching till we're blue in the face is pointless if God does not move a person's heart to believe. However, living by example and then having people find out that we're Christians makes a statement of immeasurable faith and devotion. You will find that those who talk a lot about how they love Jesus and God are usually those who live as if they are atheists. It begs the question of whether they truly believe.
@BelgianAtheist (continued): Conversely, those who don't say much about it but then you find out after they do something out of real kindness and sincerity... well, I'm sure you can draw a conclusion from that. That is why it's disappointing for many of us when non-believers simply bash Christianity - it's as if they've met all the fake ones and applied those misconceptions to the real ones. If you were in our shoes, wouldn't you be a bit upset to be broadly labeled as something you are not?
@cornofstarchy You do have a commendable point however by being silent you allow the "fake" (at some point you're gonna have to explain how you can really make that distinction, ever heard of the "no true Scotsman" argument?) ones to define the public view of your religion.
Also in this case the Hoyt's seems to go out of their way to not publicize their religious affiliation, there is only 1 mention of god on their site and it is by a fan
@cornofstarchy (continued), either they don't find it important or they are intentionally dishonest to attract more clients.
As for your last point, I (atheists) are in those shoes, believers have been wrongly defining and labeling who we are throughout the ages, instead of becoming upset we become outspoken, proudly wear our atheist identity and provide a response to false statements made about me (us) and ask clarifications about believer's beliefs
@BelgianAtheist: (I’m replying at the risk of getting kicked) No, not really either. I have to use "true Christians" because there are so many self-made definitions. For example, I've heard people declare that they are a Christian because they were christened at birth, grew up with it, baptized at an age when they knew nothing of nor understood the act, the nation they live in is founded on Christian principles and that somehow makes them a Christian, and my all-time favourite, they are simply
@BelgianAtheist: non-practicing Christians. The words Christian and christianity comes from the belief in and acceptance of Christ. A Christian is simply a person who accepts that a) s/he has committed wrongs, commit wrongs, and will commit wrongs, b) s/he cannot undo any of the wrongs (e.g. if the person lies, steals, kills, even if they are repentent, no future act(s) they perform can undo the fact that the wrong was committed), c) wrong-doings come with punishment (our courts are based on
@BelgianAtheist: this principle), our wrong-doings should come with punishment (e.g. in God's terms as judge, physical or spiritual punishment), d) Jesus, sent by God, is sufficient to take our place for the punishment (death) and accept his cruxificion as atonement for all our wrong-doings (past, present, and future). That's it. That's a Christian. You cannot "practice" this - you either believe or you don't. You cannot become one by christening or baptism - those are public declarations of
@BelgianAtheist: your belief. If you declare yet you do not believe, then the acts are meaningless. You are not one simply because the nation you live in is founded on Christ-like principles or because you grew up with the ideals. So, with regards to the ad hoc fallacy (without getting into the theology - which is beyond the scope of the comments section), I would definitely be guilty of using it if "Christian/christianity" is not clearly defined. (The rest I replied to you by PM.)
God carried us when we were yet sinners, and a burden to Him. We were absolutely nothing, but because of His love for us, we lived. Because I know my Redeemer lives.
Nicole C. Mullen doesn't she have a powerful voice. Imagine all the love that man will have stored up in Heaven!! Imagine when his son runs with him!!!!!

Mr Hoyt, you made me cry.You are the best inspiration I have ever seen. When I feel bad or worried about something, I will think in this in order to be positive and push myself harder.Thank you very much!YOU ARE A TRULY HERO!
Whenever people tell me they are hard done by, i email this video to them. I get so much thanks from them after they have viewed it. You are a hero to my 3 sons and to so many more. :)
all my respect to you sir..you are such a great father to your son..you are the iron man of alll iron man you are the true iron man and iron father...you ispire me so much..i have an unborn hopefully my first baby child and i was worred if i could be a good father to him, but when i saw your video it ispire me to be a good father to my future son...thank you for ispiring me, thank you for giving me courage to be a good father to my son..thank you...god bless you sir...
My sister is a special child, I want to finish the ironman with her someday. Problem is, she likes the water too much, and I fear she might jump boat on the swim portion. :[
This makes me sad because I think of my father who recently passed but at the same time makes me remember how great of a man he was and it also inspires me.
A good song for a great Vid, but if you want to know the full story, if you want to understand why they do it you need to watch this video: /watch?v=U9Md3Vldcj0
Then and only then will you understand the message they carry and why they are HEROES.
Fantástico! Como é possível existirem no mundo pais capazes de tudo pelos filhos e outros que os matam, torturam e tratam pior do que lixo. Este PAI é ....Fenomenal!
This son, one of his dreams is to take part in a triathlon. So, of the dad love for the child so much, He brought him thru a triathlon. Love by Actions ;D
Yes this father is special and yes this father loves his son very much. But lots of fathers out there have spastics kids and love them just the same. You dont have to enter a bloody triathlon to show it. All parents who loves and take care of their disabled kids are heroes in my book.
Some say it's because of God that Dick have the strength to take his son thru this race.. But it's all thanks to his love for his son.. God have nothing to do with this..
Lillofflan, I choose to believe that God placed Rick into Dick's arms for a reason.
There are few men in this world that are like Dick. Yes, he loves his son. And, he does it for his son! But, what if Rick had been born into a family who would have been most content to place Rick into a home as recomended. Sorry, God did right this time. Dick and Rick are both lucky to have each other.
Love has everything to do with this!! God is not a person..
In 1st John, Chapter 4
16. ...God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
God is The Law.., and the Law to obey is... Love!
Of the words used for "love" in the Bible, one, in the original Greek is "agape". It stands for unselfish love, supreme love, unconditional love,.. This is the quality of love that Dick expresses towards his son.., and it's that Love..., God.., that supports them both..
I'm sorry dude, I don't think you are right at all. Listen I don't want to start a whole argument with you, but God has everything to do with it. God is love and therefore any feeling of love that this father or any other father has for his son comes directly from the love that God has for us,
God's glory is shown in both of you! You have just shown mankind how we can follow God's steps. My two-year-old daughter cried when she saw this video. God bless both of you! Alleluia!
this song made me cry as well..it reminds me of God. He is carrying you in the deepest sea of your life, He pushes you to run on your race and He never leaves you nor forsake you......If everyone would embrace the forgiveness and salvation He offers...my redeemer leaves

Is it not disturbing to christians that Team Hoyt's original video's are altered (essentially lying)
Well I guess we all know that christians do not have a lot of integrity and the majority will accept anything without questioning.

My sister is a special child, I want to finish the ironman with her someday. Problem is, she likes the water too much, and I fear she might jump boat on the swim portion. :[

Maravilhoso !
Independentemente de qualquer religião o ser humano tem a chama do amor, da bondade e da misericórdia dentro de si.
Esse pai aí é um grande exemplo. Incentivando a nos entregarmos mais pelos que precisam de nós.

Yes this father is special and yes this father loves his son very much. But lots of fathers out there have spastics kids and love them just the same. You dont have to enter a bloody triathlon to show it. All parents who loves and take care of their disabled kids are heroes in my book.

mlonde: 'lots of fathers have spastic kids'.
Mmm, yes, it's NEVER the mother's fault is it.

Thats not what I meant you twat !!
I meant lots of fathers have children who are spastic and I didnt mention mothers cuz the video shows the bond between a FATHER and his son.
Think it out in your head before you start typing.

Some say it's because of God that Dick have the strength to take his son thru this race.. But it's all thanks to his love for his son.. God have nothing to do with this..
Lilltofflan 2 years ago
Lillofflan, I choose to believe that God placed Rick into Dick's arms for a reason.
There are few men in this world that are like Dick. Yes, he loves his son. And, he does it for his son! But, what if Rick had been born into a family who would have been most content to place Rick into a home as recomended. Sorry, God did right this time. Dick and Rick are both lucky to have each other.
BBH101 2 years ago
Love has everything to do with this!! God is not a person..
In 1st John, Chapter 4
16. ...God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
God is The Law.., and the Law to obey is... Love!
Of the words used for "love" in the Bible, one, in the original Greek is "agape". It stands for unselfish love, supreme love, unconditional love,.. This is the quality of love that Dick expresses towards his son.., and it's that Love..., God.., that supports them both..
peterperfectprac 2 years ago 3
I'm sorry dude, I don't think you are right at all. Listen I don't want to start a whole argument with you, but God has everything to do with it. God is love and therefore any feeling of love that this father or any other father has for his son comes directly from the love that God has for us,
sparrow7230 2 years ago
God is the one who put the love in this father's heart for his son, just as God the Father loved His own Son, Jesus.
