  • @398700773 put the file on cd/dvd or a harddrive ...

  • Way to fast and assuming anyone watching is very computer programing literate. I think a slower less techno worded version might be more helpful to all the people at home just wanting to do an update but not being that computer wise. I know it's easy when you are very knowledgable to fly thru things assuming "that's easy" and not go into detail.

  • @SaraTGinMD

Try watching this guy's vids He's much more visual and doesn't race through as if it were a review rather than a tutorial, even though it's supposed to be..BTW, copy and paste this AFTER the "Com" in youtube dot com.

  • @MegaJames1337 listen, you child! XD can i update bios on my motherboard? m2n

  • i don't really know. if i could see it for myself, i could say the answer.

  • @KIDEKIDE90

you need to know your motherboard model if you dont then you cant update your bios.

if you dont know your motherboard model.

    cpuid(dot)com/downloads/cpu-z/1.59-setup-en.exe

download and install cpu-z (link above)

run the program and go to the "mainboard" tab.

there it should tell you your motherboard manfufacturer and model.

  • @ms205 hm...i'll try to do that, we'll be in touch B|

  • this is very important if you install a new processor on you motherboard..

  • will it erase my porn?

  • @nuggz503 keep it secret. it's embarrassing,,

  • @nuggz503 no

  • yes

  • Was about to do the Live update 4 for my MSI mobo but it ran into the Warning this rom different from that rom and gives 3 options one to go with what it recommends or leave it they way I have it or quit? So I just exited and after you saying you don't prefer it I won't do it till I'm sure nothing goes wrong...

But my computer does have some random crash issues that I believe relate to me not updating my Bios I have 2.50 while there is a 2.80 out.

  • i am trying to fix up my old computer but every time i try install windows this blue screen show up here what it say stop: 0x000000a5 0x0001 0x0000000000

  • Is this gy still making this vids? I will sub.

  • I have an AMI 7B3P091G BIOS and i have been to the AMI website but you have to pay to get the update ($30+/month) and I have gone to the Gateway website as well to check for any BIOS updates for my computer model and there is nothing.....

  • So flashing means updating correct? Also how often should this be done?

  • @Hawkisnoob Try to do it every year or whenever you pick up a component (if there is an update).

  • @Hawkisnoob Flashing is wiping out your BIOS, updating just requires flashing to, well, update. Normally you dont need to update your BIOS at all unless you have an old computer.

  • I used method #2 before and it completely corrupted my BIOS. I had to buy a replacement BIOS chip and install that. I would recommend method #1.

  • where the directory of old bios?????

  • you lost me at "floppy"

  • gonna do the second method soon but i'm gonna get my friend to do it since he's a geek :D

  • @gino2240 If you need a BIOS update you are already a geek.

  • @ThomasPianecz not really, you just know how to use a computer.

  • @XboxBasherAvailable Yeah, sure, ask any girl or guy who knows how to play games and browse the internet (that is knowing how to use a computer) if they can flash a bios.

  • @ThomasPianecz no, I'm saying if you need to flash your BIOS, you know how to use a computer.

  • i did the first method however my laptop now has a black screen when it starts up

it sounds like it's running but nothing appears on the screen

i am trying to use a bios recovery to go back to an earlier version

  • my BIOS version is 2.5 but i want upgrade it what i should do?

  • Sir do you have some video on how to update the BIOS of ECS A780GM-A motherboard in step by step using a usb?

  • EVEREST says I need to update my Bios

    BIOSTAR

  • Floppy? I can put that in my PC, what should I do? >.>

  • How is everybody getting so many problems surely they should actually make it work

  • i have a M4A78LT-MLE mobo and i recently reset the bio to the defaults because the overclock was making my computer all pixelated and screwy and now at start up it says "cpu does not support this model" i have a AMD phenom IIx4 B45 processor and my msn crashes my mmorpg crashses, and my firefox crashes so idk what to do.

  • i have windows 7 x64, but my mobo is made for windows vista x32/x64.

will happen something if i install the new bios and have win7?

  • @JordyMegaman nothing... it will still support it but be wary of bottlenecks

  • @JordyMegaman um nothing? it would work just fine

  • how do you find your motherboard's website?

  • my chipset is 915GSM/920GML

how i get the latest bios?

  • how do I check my bios version? LOL

  • I got the latest BIOS update for my Asus m4a785td-v EVO motherboard. I want to update my BIOS using the second method, navigating to the .rom file and starting doing it like that, but I'm scared it will fail on me and I'll end up with a BIOS-less board.

There's no reason for it to fail, but I would really hate to risk this.

  • Question to anyone. Before updating BIOS do we need to rest the BIOS to default settings or not. Ex in Gigabyte. Load Optimized Defaults, save reboot. Go back to BIOS and then update it by method 1 or 2. So do we need to rest BIOS back to factory settings or not? Thanks.

  • Can I do this on OEM systems like a Dell Dimension? I hate the limited Dell BIOS

  • Everyone says that one of the first things you have to do after finishing a build is updating the bios.

But why? Why did they make an important thing like this so hard? (and easy to destroy the mobo) :S

  • I'm encountering an impact FPS drop while playing games after I updated my motherboard. Also, my fan noise has became more louder after this happened. I demand to know why would this happen? My motherboard is ASUS P6X58D-E. I updated the version from 0303 to 0403.

  • my gtx 470 keeps crashing in like all my games, i just bought it, im not sure if this is the problem or not... like if i get into farcry 2, it runs fine, and its not getting too hot, the game just freezes... my backlit keyboard, (cyborg) changes all these differnt colors, and then i have to turn it off... and sometimes when i restart it, i get one short beep, and have to turn it off again... let it set for about a minute, then turn it back on.... is it my bios , my ram, my motherboard?. >.<

  • @Legoman0323

Did you install the latest drivers from Nvidia? If not, try that first. If you already have, then intall the latest BIOS. Hope this takes care of your problem. Let me know how it goes.

  • @IDontGiveARatzAzz turns it out it was the shitty power supply i bought from apevia ( DONT BUY THERE PRODUCTS ) mine failed the second day.... on the third, it couldnt even turn my cpu on, the fans, were jittering, and the motherboard light was really dim.. and it was like wow, just bull shit, i ended up buying an Ultra X4 850 Watt instead, works perfect :D

  • @ ShadowJ20

You can save it on your hard drive, usually C:\ and you will be able to find it on the EZ Flash or whatever your motherboard has.

Great tutorial as always PCWizKid, all I would add is if you are using RAID 0 make sure that after you flash your BIOS go into the BIOS again and set your boot drive to RAID otherwise you will get "System not found" message. Then again if you know how to setup a RAID 0 I'm sure you don't need help with a BIOS flash :)

  • Can I do that with a USB flash instead of Floppy Disk?

  • For the second method...where do you save the bios file for it to be seen in the built in bios updater?

  • Ty good sir

  • I bought an hp computer in 09 and upgraded the CPU in 2010 it has an am2+ socket and i put an am3 CPU and it works just fine nothing went wrong its just well perfect, and i didn't update bios or anything.

  • i went to my computers boards website and it gives me a .bio file will it update even though its a .bio file

  • hey can u help i have an acer grs400m motherboard and my bios version is R01-A4

  • So lets say that I buy "AMD Phenom II X6 T1055" and a "ASUS M4A77TD PRO motherboard"? The ASUS M4A77TD PRO does not support Hexa without a bios update. Will I be able to update the bios with the Hexa core (using the inbuilt Bios update in the BIOS?)?

  • You can also make a boot cd if you dont' have a floppy drive... Ive done it on many of my customers computers...

  • @mike22490 how can i make a boot cd to update my bois can you please reply back?

  • @omegadavid99 check pm ina sec

  • i have to do all the updates or just the latest?

  • I've got a few more things to add: Updating the BIOS from the HDD requires FAT partitions, it doesn't see NTFS, at least the motherboards I've worked on.

You can also update from the Optical Drive (CD/DVD).

  • Can someone ask my questions, please? Or at least provide a link?

  • I have a question and i didnt get any answers to on on yahoo answers...when i boot up my windows xp everything boots normally it goes to my desktop but everything is black like no icons or start menu...but if i wait like 10 mins everything comes back to normal...any solutions to fix this?

  • can you delete the file after installing it on your bios?

  • @8530Jack Deleting from your USB or HDD? Yes, sure thing.

  • This is a good video for beginners. Keep it up!

    I have 5 questions though:

    1) Do I need to update each version of BIOS or just the latest version? (AM2+/AM3)

    2) Do you recommend updating beta versions of BIOS or just skipping them?

    3) Can HDD performance or fragmenting affect the BIOS update?

    4) I've used live update on a motherboard since BIOS notes specified it. It failed. M2A-VM HDMI PC starts but no video. Can it be recovered?

    5) Can M3A78 EMH HDMI use the M3A78 EM BIOS?

  • Do new motherboards come with the latest bios version?

  • @LeDgEnDx It depends on how new (manufacture date) the motherboard is. It's a yes and no answer. If, however, you wish to update the BIOS I would recommend it only if there is something faulty with the current BIOS (like functionality or supporting new hardware). Hope that answers your question.

  • . . .new theme song!!!!!

  • @Hittman305 You can do a BIOS upgrade through Windows but you have to be more carefull and read the manual of your MB very good. Gigabyte and MSI by my expirience did a very good job with there BIOS upgrade tool for Windows and had no problems with them at all.

  • I had a MSI motherboard and did the method number 3 and had no problems! Only i downloaded the BIOS version myself and update was ok. On Gigabyte MB i used the method number 2 via USB flash and also had no problems. Nice job, PCWizKid - - - Over and out..

  • whta program do you use to see the bios curent version and stuff ??? thx

  • It bothers me a bit how you call it Bias instead of Bios :p

  • PCWizKid, if I have a 5 year old motherboard like the Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000MK, it is dangerous to update the BIOS if i never did it?

  • What i love about GIGABYTE is you can update your motherboard bios while you login into your Windows account! all that can be done with GIGABYTE @BIOS program.

  • Okay, honestly? Why would you dislike this?

  • help me! when i log into my main cpu it takes a long time to "personal the settings" and it only shows my wallpaper after. before this happened, it logs in normaly but anything i click either does not respond or open up until my yahoo messenger and other automaticly starting programs go on. can you tell me whats wrong? thx...and i have have windows xp

  • @kdipi upgrade your RAM memory or format your hard drive .

i recommend the first solution .

  • i never have updated my bios because i cant find it on the asus website :/

    its an A8N-BR

    with Nvidia Geforce 6150 LE/nforce 430

    its so frustrating..

  • i have never update my nForce660 motherboard LOL

  • Hi all i'm looking for good graphics card for Blu-ray Movies and World Of Warcraft

is nvidia GeForce GTX 460 1GB or ATI Radeon HD 5770????

  • @DK752 That's extreme overkill for WoW and Blu-Ray movies! You'd honestly be fine with a 9600GT. Both WoW and 1080P playback are not intensive at all. The former can be done even on mainstream cards, and the latter can be done on integrated graphics chips.

  • very very helpful tnx.. glad i found ur channel :D

  • can you make a video on how to change the crosshair iv how to change the start up logo

  • right about now im hating my limited bios toshiba put on here lol

  • No one has a floppy disk anymore, unless I missed something. I do not see nothing wrong with doing a Windows Bios update really. I have done a lot and they were all successfull.

  • thanks

  • The @BIOS from Gigabyte works fine for me... I've been using thins option for some time now... and it never fails :)

For the first method... I have 2 floppy drives but not in the comp. case :) not using a floppy for a long time...

  • I needed this today :) THANKS

  • I downloaded a file from Dell, because my laptop is from there, and ran it as an administrator, after a minute, it disabled almost my hole laptop while updating for 1.5 minutes, and it auto-rebooted. Ain't that easy?

  • i've been updateing my bios since i was 11 damn! people its not hard to things alone just read! and take chances!

  • I've updated using the 3rd method but that's only cos my Acer laptop doesn't have a floppy.drive or a BIOS with the self-update function. I agree though, I got nervous when updating the BIOS through Windows cos you never know what could go wrong... :(

  • I haven't updated my BIOS before. Thanks dude :)

  • hey how do you remove that asus interface that appears when you boot?

  • @1337BananaL33TVostok in the BIOS menu you see the BOOT option then in there there is a setting to disable to logo on boot.

  • @PCWizKid i got a blackout while updating my bios... is it ok if i redownload / install the bios update i was doing, while the blackout accured.

  • @hehehe929 is the motherboard still working?

  • Love your videos, but quick question, how would you flash a graphics card (gtx 460) to unlock every that has pretty much been disabled.

  • yay... very very nice video! <3

  • wen i downloaded the bios, it was in a zip folder. do i hav to extarct or do i leave it in the zip folder?

  • @joho1795

i think you need to extract it...

  • @joho1795 you need to extract it, also read the instructions if it came with any. Pick the best method for you to update it.

  • Does it have to be on a floppy?

  • @randomviewer896 on very old systems yes, on newer systems USB Stick is fine.

  • @PCWizKid do you have to revert to stock cpu settings before updating?

  • on new asus rog mobos , just put bios on flash usb insert it in the back , turn on pc while holding the rog connect button:D
